Gears 5's Multiplayer is Boring

Although i feel gears 5 end of life MP was decent, it just feels so bland, soulless, and uninspired. We need ACTUAL progression like in Gears 3 with the war journal that puts value behind cosmetics and play time other than mindlessly playing to save up x amount of y currency to by z cosmetic. Also gameplay feels wayyy too dumbed down and weightless from the actual mechanics to sound design to visual design. We also need a fresh batch of GOOD game modes, koth is a classic but we need something fresh thats actually fun to play. Horde mode feels like an endless mess, with no actual stakes but your older vids do a great job of explaining that. Finally, with the addition of sprays and emotes etc the fortnite-ization of gears 5 gave it a complete tonal mismatch and took away from gears being gears. It lost identity and character just to pander to a woder audience who played the mp and shelved it as soon as they realised what an underbaked mess it was with streamers like DrDisrespect being a prime example.

I never play ranked MP anymore. if I feel like playing the game I will just go into a custom game and we have our own little community there.

We will never get gears 3 type of progression, companies don’t do that anymore. Nowadays the most you can earn is an emblem or namecard, or if your lucky some boring cosmetic. We never got new game modes because they put all the stocks on escape and arcade, and both ended up being duds. The tonal shift started all the way back during gears 4 and probably won’t ever change because they’re trying to copy more popular games, hoping to bring in new/more casual players.

Gears 3 was the best MP experience IMO. The weapon balancing in 4 and especially 5 never felt quite right and in honestly, I blame eSports. Mortal kombat had the same issue with MK11 but fixed it with mk1, so i wonder if TC will take notes

Way back when gears 4 came out my friends and I were trying to find out why we suddenly suck so much after stumping gears 3 and loving mp. And we decided that yeah the new balancing of 4-5 removed most of the ability of rifles to compete with gnasher and power weapons. And that is a core part if the E sports

I agree with a lot of your claims, gears 5 movement is very easy, the game is way to slow and honestly it doesn't even feel good to have mastered it. Wallbouncing in gears of war 3 it takes a lot of determination, that's why there's not many people that are good at it. Most of all, wallbouncing in gears 3 actually matters and it does something, when you wallbounce in gears 5 no matter what unless you're fighting a player who struggles in the aim department, you're going to get hit. Gears of war has always been a shotgun-based game for the most part, I think it should stay that way. In my experience that's the most fun way to play the game, I can't stand camping back with an AR just chipping away at health for my kill just to be taken. It's boring and unengaging.

gears 5 multiplayer COULD'VE been something crazy, with all of it's new movement tech and what not, but instead they ruined it and made hitting shots a breeze whilst making moving accessible to anyone and their grandparents

I was also surprised that the damage was so similar. Right now I can't find the notepad I kept the data in but im sure they're about the same

Gears 5 was just a mess all around. When it first came out the lancer and the flash grenade were abused to hell to the point where if you were using gnasher, you didnt even get a chance to get up close let alone get a single shot on the enemy. Now I am seeing the complete opposite with the lancer being as weak as a snub pistol and having the recoil of a gears 3 retro lancer for absolutely no reason. Its like there is no in-between with these weapon tunings, like either make them extremely weak and unbalanced or just flat out them weapons of mass destruction lol

Shocked that it has no dlc, just one hiveuster and 2 skins from Reach. No lie i bought this game with the expectation that it'd be way better than Gears 3 at least, But it's crazy how the game is not. just the horde mode, thats insanely good

The shotgun fest in Gears 5 is infuriating. Game feels like it picks and chooses when you get 100% 1 shots. Gnasher just feels so fucking inconsistent yet broken at the same time.

Remember in Gears of War 3 when you didn't an Xbox subscription to play a private game of Horde. They need to reimplement this in future Gears.

The GOW 3 Retro Lancer was imo more skillbased with the massive recoil it had compared to Gears 4. Learning how to tap the trigger on the Retro Lancer for long range combat during GOW 3 Horde was so fun.

Loved Gears 3 and its great. But I love Gears 5 too, of course its not perfect but I play almost every day and always have so much fun, tbh every weapon the game overall feel more balanced than the previous ones

I think the multiplayer of Gears 5 is actually fun, but I do agree that Gears 3 is better, the only reason I keep playing Gears 5 is because my Xbox One broke, and the only Gears games available on PC are Gears UE, 4 and 5. I don't have UE and have not played Gears 4 since 2019 (I have no idea about the current state of the game) so Gears 5 its pretty much my only option to play Gears, so I'd really love if they release a Marcus Fenix Collection (for PC), because even though I enjoy Gears 5, If such collection existed, I'll be playing that instead

Gears 5 was made with esports in mind. And their problem was that this game never got enough content to keep it in esports. So the playerbase died when content stopped. When the stupid currency was implented like in 4 and when the casuals stopped playing bc they got stomped by sweaty PC players. Gears 5 had potential if they stuck to the ingredients thats made the first trilogy amazing. Gritty atmosphere. Player progression that offered rewards. Actual diverse weapons and my biggest gripe of all is that all the base weapons offer no active reloads. Theres no reward to playing the gears 5 multiplayer any other way other than gnasher fest. Which isnt bad in itself bc all gears MP end that way but you had options with the sawed off the retro the hammer. The rifles could still outplay the shotguns. But it isnt that way anymore and it makes it so stale its just shotgun or power weapons no in between. Gears 3 and gears 2 had it perfect. Gears 4 was decent but in comparison to 5 gears 4 is still the best for character customization skins and the feel of 3

Gears 5 makes me miss loot boxes. Going back to gears 4 honestly reminds me why I loved gears. Lowkey such a great game pvp and pve wise, story is still buns at the end of the day unfortunately.

Your remarks on the lancer are way off. The gears 5 lancer is way more powerful than it was in 4. The reason is that it's more accurate, especially once you know how to manage recoil. If you fire in 2 and 3 round bursts and get headshots you can take down a player's health from far distance and really control the flow of the game. It has a bit of a skill gap but in experienced hsnds it's a great support weapon and a huge buff over gears 4.

Headshots are crit damage so I would hope a gun does more damage landing critically. Realistically the gun has high recoil, low damage, large bullet spread, and no stopping power. If I wanted to burst people down with a few shots at a time I would pick the hammerburst :D

And? That's exactly what overhyped means. 3 had forgettable maps and the multiplayer as a whole was completely unbalanced. Gears 4 took everything that 3 brought to the table and balanced it.@@lucidactives
