Charlie said he doesn't remember the sires at 51:00 but they are actually the origins of the locust. The COG accidentally made them by mutating humans and the AI Miles went rogue leading to the locust escaping and making their own society under the mountain, led by the Queen who worked at the facility, thats why their Queen is a human. I love how the game doesn't spoonfeed you this but gives you the evidence to figure it out without actually explicitly saying it

Gears of War 2 has a special place in my heart, and while I didn't play the campaign much up until now, I played the hell out of the multi-player. Heck, a cousin and I once did a Warzone match (the one mode in the multi-player that was basically elimination from COD) one Christmas, and god, that was probably the most fun I had while playing splitscreen multi-player. I was a god with the Scorcher, and I am still really good with it, even in Gears of War 3.

I am of the honest belief that video game graphics peaked in the 2010s. A lot of games today get so caught up in realism that it gives the devs less room to experiment and paint an imaginative picture. Games like gears 2 walk this line of style and realism that is rare to find nowadays. Dead space 2 and Halo:Reach come to mind as good examples too. Also GoW4 was a pretty good legacy sequel imo, though I never did finish it.

Playing all 3 gears game made me realize. Each has something I wish the other had. Gears 1 has by far the best gunplay, I like the fact all the weapons uses really fast projectiles instead of hitscan. I love the sound design and the aggressive shaking of the weapons, and the stupid ragdoll physics. I understand what Charlie was saying when he was saying “leading his shot” now, it’s projectiles. Unfortunately with that comes an advantage of host shots going faster, and that this mechanic is clearly an accident, and it’s hard to replicate an accident. The only way I can imagine it being put into a modern game on purpose, is if the devs made the projectiles go a bit slower but it still means the host can have an advantage. Gears 2 has a far more interesting environment with nexus and the story mode is pretty awesome, I’m not as big of a fan of Skorge as I am for Raam, which is kind of weird because they don’t have much too either of them until much later. It also hits the hardest emotionally out of the 3, Tai and Maria, like god damn. Also the maps in versus have a lot of random occurrences, that can change the game a lot, like the avalanche, and shard hail, I don’t know if gears 1 or 3 had them, so far nothing like that has occurred for me on those. Gears of war 3 has the most content, more weapons more variety of different modes that were all awesome, and much more freedom. It also has in my opinion the best OVERALL art direction, far better than gears 4 and 5, which do look more realistic technically, but isn’t as appealing. And the campaign of 3 I feel is paced better than the others, solid beginning middle and end. The campaign also had far more variety in terms of where you went in the story, but damn do I wish I got to see what nexus looked like in this game. When it comes to which gears game is my favorite, it sorta depends. I’d play Gears 1 if I want to feel that awesome gunplay. Gears 2 if I want to immerse myself in Nexus environments, the nostalgic emotional investment of the characters, and intriguing multiplayer maps, I’d play gears of war 2. Gears 3 for all the insane content like beast mode, arcade mode, the ability to play as general Raam in that DLC campaign, all the different options for weapons, and in my opinion a more replay-able campaign. Gears 3 is probably the game I’d play first to get me back into the feel of gears of war and then just switch back and forth between games depending on mood.

Around 2022 I played Gears 5 for the first time cause my friend wanted to play the campaign. We haven't finished it yet lol, but I played a LOT of horde and some multiplayer. I'm a Cod zombies fan so I love horde. Anyways, since my friend grew up playing Gears he said he wants to play through all the campaigns in order from the first game to the most recent. When we do finally get around to play them, I wanna see for myself what I couldn't experience back when I had my no wifi Xbox. Seeing the story looks really enticing, and I love watching Charlie have fun with it. I don't really get whats going on exactly, but it still looks hella cool.

For anyone interested, Maria was originally in a settlement with dom and her family but during emergence day her parents and her and dom's kids were killed so she went into a depression and went to live with a Stranded group for a long time, she gets kidnapped and tortured when locusts later on attack that group as well.

I do find it kind of funny how he trash talks 4 and 5 the entire time, but then says he doesn't remember the Sires when he encounters them. I don't care if people trash talk the newer games, I don't enjoy the new cast as much as the cast in the original trilogy, but it makes it pretty obvious that he didn't play 5 if he doesn't remember the Sires.

I hated the part where you pilot the centaur. Felt so bad to handle and the part with the ice, forget it. Sometimes thats one of the reasons why I dont wanna play the campaign again cuz ik im gonna have to sit there for a while and fight the controls 😅

After the hurricane I was checking my roof for leaks in the attic and found my old Xbox360 (and ps3) along with all my games including GOW 2 and 3, Halo 3 and Halo reach, and a crap ton more games. Decided to test it and see if it all worked and I’ve been hooked on that shit for a week now. I’m shocked how well the graphics still hold up all these years later.
