It's not, something is up with this game, really bizarre behavior here. Tried it on my 3060 and noticed similar, can be 4k/Ultimate and an easy 60 during a battle, then just walking through another area that's virtually identical and then fps is cut in half. This is perhaps a Nvidia driver issue.

Underrated in terms of the multiplayer (PvE and PvP)? Yes. Underrated in terms of its campaign? MASSIVE no. It's one of those woke, boring, bland, corny, campaigns that most games try to be nowadays. You've seen one you've seen them all.

I also agree with your opinion with the surround sound, though I personally prefer DTS: Headphone X for the higher bit rates it provides for all games across the board. It's a big advantage that let's you hear further and discern multiple sound sources all at once.

I replayed the game @4k all maxed out with cropped 120fps due to my 120hz vrr Panel. The game looks incredible crisp and runs so smooth. Bad are only the low res cgis.. i cant remember that the fps came down to 60..? Standard 4090/13900k, 64gig ram

If I were to guess the game uses more closed off/less demanding sections of the game to load the bigger sections of the level where more objects are drawn. I believe the first reboot Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider also have pretty big FPS flactuation when traversing between bigger HUBs.

Won't matter, it's permanently screwed since years ago when a Windows 10 update effectively broke it. You can look at other videos, 3090's were dropping into the 40's and this continues today, it can't properly utilize the GPU - it's not a problem of being too demanding, the game has needed a patch since that Windows update and one never came.

Why don't you play the popular games that people actually care about more often? Like Hogwarts Legacy, Modern Warfare 2, Dead Space, Resident evil 4 etc... You would get more views. No one cares about Gears right now bro like literally no one.
