I think it was a great idea to pick up where Robert left off! I quite enjoyed his playthroughs, and I always like yours, so this is a neat "continuation" of sorts.

Hi, I've not seen the video game, which I think is good as it never influenced my impression of the board game at all. And since I'm now doing a series on this one you can be sure it's a game I enjoy... thematically strong and atmospheric... it will certanly sit alongside the other games on this channel. I hope you enjoy! Rick

Hi, no, it says you spawn one per player, and you put them in any empty area. Thanks for watching, Rick

thanks! And thanks to Robert....it was his idea ! I really enjoyed Robert's GoW series..they were my inspiration, so this series is dedicated to Robert (and George of course!)

I've been considering getting this, so I'm looking forward to seeing this series. If I do break down and get it, I'll have to let FFG know to send you the commission check. :)

The Ticker card tells you when they spawn if there is cover they enter it so you should have 3 tickers on 9A and they should be in cover if it is available

I know this is an old video, but I had to just say I laughed at when you showed the ticker miniature it was backwards lol 😂

I like your playthroughs a lot.You explain the rules very clearly and you edit your videos nicely. The only thing i don't like is that cup you use to roll the dice. Just throw them already. :) Anyway just subscribed

So do you use the ammo chits to use a pumped up version of your weapon? Can you use the wes6pons without ammo? Do you refill ammo? Thanks

NOTE: Rulebook says, "A Weapon card with no ammo tokens on it cannot be used to attack with either a normal or an overkill attack" (p.19)

So Rick, what do you think has more replayability, smarter/dynamic AI (not just enemies but all game controlled events), etc... this or Galaxy Defenders or D&D LoD? Just finished your GD playthrough and the first vid of this. I really like GD's player "tech-board" and levelling up abilities. I also liked how the monsters move in smart ways based off their position to you (reminiscent of the AI in Field Commander: Napoleon), as well as the area VS hex movement of enemies (brilliant bit of AI design). If this is anything like the videogame, levelling up should be minimal and more of a "find item" thing (not a dealbreaker). However, I do like cardplay (a la Mage Knight) but it's not a must (I am obsessed with Freedom: Underground Railroad atm..... which appears to have some parallels with predicting enemy movement and where you want to get to) As for Legends of Drizzt, I know NOTHING about it but plan on getting to your playthrough of it soon. Finally, streamlinedness is a bonus. One reason I love Freedom: TUG so much is that I can play it on a whim. Games take an hour (but what an hour it is). Rulebook flipping is kept to a minimum. Etc etc. I don't mind fiddliness when a game is worth it (Mage Knight, Thunderbolt Apache Leader, others) but as someone with terrible time management, a game I don't need to plan a whole day around (rulebook flipping, tablespace, card-flipping, etc) is welcome. Looking forward to your response.

Good question.. it's too early to say for me re GD re-playability. I found GoW rulebook easier (though I make more mistakes!). There's no levelling up in GoW and each mission is more standalone. The GD AI is pretty good, as it includes line of sight. I think GoW is prettier though. The combat is more streamlined in GoW.

Ricky Royal Appreciate the response. How is GoW replayability? Just from the setup video, I see shades of Space Hulk the card game! I'll continue watching this series as well as your Drizzt videos and try to inform myself. I saw someone say that GD looks like someone took Drizzt and tried to make it better.

GoW is great.. it made my top30 list :) It has a special place in my collection...
