I thought this would be a "sensible" review of the fightpad. Instead, it's being reviewed as if it is a "normal PS5 controller" - which it doesn't pretend to be. 14:55 - Anyone buying a fightpad, to use in fighting games, has no need of the right analog stick - so the absence is not a negative. Would you mark down a fightstick for not having a right analog stick??? 15:24 - No adaptive triggers is a positive, for this controller, not a negative. They are never needed in any fighting games. They are one of the easiest components to break, in a normal PS5 controller. 15:38 - Having the buttons moved onto the face of the controller is the entire point of this type of pad. The review section makes as much sense as buying a motorbike, then complaining that you can't close the windows like you can in a car. After all, they're both vehicles that go on a road - surely it makes sense to compare them, directly, when both are advertised as doing very different things?

YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND. Jesus some actual logic in the comments. Absolute morons are buying these tools for perfection which is what they are and then complaining they aren't "premium" or comparing them to tools not remotely designed for the job. No word of a lie, one guy actually said one a couple of the highest end tools doesn't "feel" premium for the price despite having the best things required for it's intended purpise. Low input delay, comfortable to hold in long tournament sessions, long lasting mechanical inputs, fast actuation, reliable and consistent inputs. THOSE are what matter, not the fkin colour, carrying case or the packaging. Like WHAT! These people are expecting some luxurious bespoke product that some how makes them get a huge jump in KDA in an FPS or rank at fighting games but then have no idea what a jump shot is for or a safe jump is for......

So to correct a point in this video, just about every major fighting game on PS5 supports listened (brands like Hori, Razer, etc..) PS4 sticks. There have been a couple exceptions, such as when the DNF Duel beta dropped, but games like Street Fighter 6 and Guilty Gear Strive will work with any licensed Sony arcade stick.

I sold my PS4 MadCatz Arcade Stick recently, but before I did, I tested Mortal Kombat 11 (PS5 version) and it worked even though it was not meant to be supported out of the box. And obviously all the PS4 games on my PS5 also worked as expected using the stick. I was planning on buying this Hori Octa for PS5, but I may either get the Victrix Pro or perhaps a hitbox to see if I can adapt to it.
@mercster Жыл бұрын
The Hori OCTA, while certainly imperfect, shares many of the disadvantages of the Victrix... and it's $50, so like, $130 cheaper. Neither the Victrix or the OCTA are great pads, but they fill a niche for games that use 6 buttons, like Street Fighter. The Victrix is so mediocre-at-everything-master-of-none, if you want a pad for SF6 I'd get the OCTA and save yourself a wad of cash, and then get a good gamepad for all other games.
@VictorSilva86 Жыл бұрын
@@mercster I was actually stubborn enough to get a Hori Octa PS5, to see if I would addapt to it... It was OK, but the dpad simply wasn't good enough for me. A couple months after this, you reviewed the Victrix Pro... which, I think we all agree does a lot of things, but is mediocre at everything. The HORI, while imperfect, provides the one benefit that most SF players would be looking for: 6 face buttons. It doesn't do some of the other things the Victrix Pro does, but... it doesn't do those things well anyway. Best option? Get a normal high-quality PS/BOX controller (or my personal favorite, 8bitdo) for 99% of games, and get the Hori, which is only $50 USD now, for SF5. I think in light of how mediocre the Victrix Pro was for $180, the HORI deserves a slightly better score, if only because at least it does one thing well, for $50.
@mercster Жыл бұрын
Oh also, no need to buy that other controller for "ps5 passthrough"... there is a dongle that does the same, and I think it's around $50 or $60. Not inexpensive, but much cheaper than the Besavior.

If you aren’t into fighting games it serves no purpose, but if you love fighting games it’s one of if not the best on the market. My major gripe with fighting pads is they are all made for tournament play so they are all wired which sucks. I know they do it for latency, but I’m not a tournament player and I don’t want my controller wired. Normal ps4 and ps5 controllers are wireless and have no latency, so why can’t fight pads do the same?
@GearsAndTech2 жыл бұрын
Bluetooth is slower than hard wired. The latency is in perceptible in real time. But when you slow it down this makes the speed difference more clear
@bahamut505ci2 жыл бұрын
@@GearsAndTech yes but it isn’t to the point where it would effect the play of a non tournament player. The pdp one coming out soon will address this issue but it just shouldn’t have taken this long. 1st thing I did one of the 1st things I did when I got my 2nd PS5 was I bought a ton of fighting games come to find out I hate playing them because I do not like the dual shock 5 and maybe the problems were the same with dual shock for I don't like how close the deepad is to the analog sticks And there's no room to maneuver I feel like for some 3-D fighting games it wouldn't really matter that much but if you're playing something like a kind of fighters are you playing something like street fighter or blaze blue or guilty gear well for me I'm trying display world heroes 2 jet and I can't feel the moves out. Although looking at my controllers that seems to be a problem with all of the controllers maybe it's the placement of the depad over the analog stick and that might be the real issue yes I think they're all about the same distance but the xbox and switch controllers Have the analog stick on top And the depot's below it the playstation control her however for some stupid reason they decided to put the deep pad on top and the analog stick below it. So I'm looking into this controller the Hori commander and is there anything any of you can recommend that doesn't have that the sticks that would help?
@GearsAndTech Жыл бұрын
A true arcade stick is best if you're serious about these games
@Edwinschuur Жыл бұрын
@@GearsAndTechno it is not. They have pros and cons. Arcade sticks don't play better on modern fighting games. They are easier for some characters like charge characters for instance. But many pros won tournaments on pad. It's a matter of preference. A pad has more buttons within reach which you can use for shortcuts. Countering a throw or other mechanics which you use on reaction can be done faster. It really depends on the game. Oh don't they to play Mortal Kombat on sticks. Most specials are not quarter circle forward but just down, forward. And MK has a dedicated block button. It it's better played on a fight pad. Now if we talk about hirbox controllers which don't have any Dpad or stick and also use buttons for movement: hard to master but they do give you an advantage in fighting games.
@That1PissedOffBoomer Жыл бұрын
I don't like it man I don't understand why the f****** analog stick has to be below the depad I mean obviously for the switch pro and for the xbox series as an ex controller's the analog stick is above the d-pad. So there's still that same distance the differences you're only catching on the analogs that could feel like doing moves in the air potentially if you're jumping all your dashes rolls Ground attacks projectiles pretty much it's all stuff that you can pull off pretty easily because your finger is not bumping up against the d*** analog stick. Like I said I would rather just a straight up controller with no analog sticks or I would even be OK with a controller with analog sticks that you can take off if that's even possible.
@That1PissedOffBoomer Жыл бұрын
Oh that's another thing I want to say is just for having just bought the d*** PS5 literally like last week the f****** dual shock 5 controller already one of my buttons is f***** up and I barely even hardly played this thing, like it's ridiculous. This controller actually sounds like it was really well made.
