perfect way to support new user without experiences in the synth-world. Bought one of these, second hand, for new sounds with guitar and found only hundreds of videos, showing the (terrible) presets. Even if it's quite late after six years: Thank you very much!

Most, if not all of the videos/demos I've seen of this unit made it sound like a video game. This is the first demo that actually made it sound like a synth and showed how to edit on the fly. What a great demo. Thats. I was considering this but watching the other vids I thought it would be a waste but after watching you I have to reconsider this unit. Thanks very much.

Thank you so much for producing the FIRST and ONLY SY-300 demo that doesn't just consist of mindlessly scrolling through the presents. FINALLY someone (certainly not anyone from Boss) shows us what this thing can do! I don't understand you programmed the sequencer sequence into OSC1. Could you explain where the melody in there came from? It seems like the tempo of the sequence was controlled by the LFO, but where did the sequence itself come from? At the start it seemed like you were recording a note sequence but that doesn't seem to be the sequence that OSC1 was playing later. Thanks!

Looks like the Slicer was used to cut steps out of the pattern. You can see it being used (labeled SL) throughout the video. Every time that SL block is turned on off the pattern changes. At 6:35 a second Slicer block is added in and then he scrolls through different patterns to alter the sequence even more noticeably

the SY-300 has per Oscillator a 16-step sequencer built-in. I preprogrammed 2 simple sequences in OSC1 and OSC2 which I turn on at 0:51 and 2:49 respectively. Since the SY-300 has no "note-off" info the release of the sounds is not 'hard' enough and that's why I added the slicer to that first sequence - makes it sound a little more like a TB-303. Hope this helps!

This is one of the best vids about the SY-300 out there! The first I see that shows how to tweak parameters to get some classic synth sounds! Which is one of the main reasons I bought it in the first place. THANKS!

So this little gizmo will practically play like a good old Moog synth, even without a guitar controlling it, except for providing a single initial tone for it. Impressive.

Oh yeah! This is what I was wanting to se about this baby. So, if you freeze a voice, can you still play the rest of the voices? Will they freeze as well as soon as you play? 1 sequencer per Osc is a synth's wet dream. They got a lot of things more than right with this one.
@HerwigScheck7 жыл бұрын
yes, if you freeze one OSC you can still play the rest - and if you have the WET/DRY set to anything other than 100% wet you could freeze all 3 OSC's and play on top of that ;-)

Okay, this is more like it. I didn't buy this thing to play Queensryche with a synth, I bought it to meke nerdy beeps and boops. My big question is, can I also run keyboards or more importantly, my voice through it?

Cheers, you are showing off its ability to edit synth tones far better than those official video demos, aimed at convincing guitarists it can track, which is important, but most of the sounds that guy, you know the one, uses or edits sound terrible from a synthesis perspective.

@HerwigScheck7 жыл бұрын
David Thompson I'm not at my Sy300 at the moment but you can assign different functions to the different switches. In this case "osc1 hold" (and 2 and 3). Great function to "freeze" notes or chords as well!

This demostrates that synths are NOT for guitar
@HerwigScheck7 жыл бұрын
Sure they are. Just try to approach it for what it is: a synth. Not a guitar pedal. Most demo's I've seen make the SY-300 into a distortion box.
@creamforever26777 жыл бұрын
Herwig Scheck the only real guitar synths are the moogerfoogers; reason? they allow you connect SEVERAL expression pedals for control the basic synth parameters you want(VCO, VCA, LFO,...). Just like keyboard synths: the rigth/left hand controls those parameters while you're playing(on the contrary, the SY 300 only have one expression pedal connection, what is ridiculous) But, obviously, the foot isn't the hand, and despite that moogerfooger's feature, if about create SYNTH SOUNDS we're speaking, I prefer to play an (analog) keyboard synth
@javiceres7 жыл бұрын
+creamforever2 you can control lots of parameters of this if you get your MIDI stuff together, boy
