thats the convenience you pay for though, you buy off your dealer and dont do him wrong he'll pat your back on warranty, personally the ratchet wrenches I had it took like 2 and a half weeks for a replacement for it. When i stripped the gears on my Matco I call my dealer, and within the next day me and him meet up and he takes care of me.

I have both the 1/4 and 3/8 pass-thru set and they're my main ratchets since you can use them as a regular long handle extremely thin/low profile ratchet, also has a quick-release attachment that lets you use all your sockets with it as well, and cant forget locking flex head with 72 tooth

I see gear wrench being a big threat to snap on, Matco,mac, and cornwell. Having an affordable tool truck on the road is a very nice thing IMO.

While snap on and Mac make some fine tools, there are a lot of tools that gearwrench makes that are such good quality, it's hard to justify triple and quintuple the price of the legacy brands. There are certainly particular tools that snap on and Mac make better top shelf and quite irreplaceable for the professional. But as my mechanic friend told me, for normal regular work the gearwrench tools work fantastic. My mechanic friend Eric has several specialty tools by gearwrench including the brand new 1/2 in replaceable head digital torque wrench $550 is the envy of his shop now.

I checked these tools online because I don’t have a gearwrench distributor besides Home Depot, through Amazon we’re substantially cheaper, Ratchet (jeff says $245.99) is $197 on Amazon, add the extension sets 1/4” $22 and 3/8” $30 so same price as promotion. The 84 piece bit set (he says $260.99) is $140 and the pry bars are $126 so same price as promotion. The 44 piece wrench set (he says $420) $229 on Amazon. The 57/51 piece sets (he says under $250) the sets together on Amazon are $150-170 so cheaper than the promotion. I like Jeff and he seems to genuinely know what he’s talking about and care about customers value, but I’m not so sure about that pricing!

You are correct, tool trucks inherently will have a bit of a padded markup, but you got to understand it's for the convenience of them coming to your shop, and the ability to do the warranty directly with the truck.

I purchased the 84 piece bit set last month and had the same issue with them not being centered. Sent an email to Apex tools for warranty and they sent me a RMA to send the set back to them. Sent it back to Apex on March 6th and still haven’t received my new set. Not very happy with their warranty process.

I have found the pass through sockets set are worth every penny.One is access to the bottom motor mount nut in the Chrysler 300C/Dodge Charger with the hemi,the 18mm pass through socket.A regular socket does not fit in there.

I Use my gear wrench Passthrough socket to remove the nut on the top of struts with the Allen or torx to hold a stud in place. The set that I bought came with 3/8 and 1/4 with pass rheough nut driver. I love my set. I just need to add the swivel ratchet

Hey Dow, customer came to me on 2005 Chrysler 300, installed own timing belt. Meaning took off belt with setting tdc or marking! Now no start! Now wonder if I set tdc and adjust remaining points on cam back manually would it start? Curious... pretty much restart square one... would it work yours take?

I'm a plumber and use pass thru sockets on recessed shower valve cartridges with long stems. I've used Husky Kobalt and Craftsman. I bought a set of Gearwrench pass thru because I've loved everything else of theirs I've owned. I hated their pass thru. I returned them before I ever used them. The fit on them was awful and ratchet was stiff. You couldn't get the sockets into the extension. I love gearwrench tools but as far as pass thru sockets if you want them I'd get Husky. They have a 1/4" and 3/8" Master set for around $80.

I got that 1/4” set and one of the sockets was rusted inside and others had some imperfections so I returned it and just got another one in the mail today. The tekton 1/4” set is a much better value but I did get the GW on sale for $45.

I’m not an auto mechanic, but I have the 1/4 and 3/8 pass through sets and the accessory set. I find it very useful. Most of the time everything fits where the regular sets do, even thought they’re a bit bigger. But they come with an adapter, so you can use standard 1/4 and 3/8 extensions and sockets. So I find zero negatives with these. They are also pretty sturdy. And the locking angle heads work very well. The angles don’t slip the way they do with other ratchets.

What's doin brother.. Imo that the mark up on the tool truck is crazy. he said 245 for the 4 piece flex head ratchets. Now I know he said u get the extensions free, I bought that same 4pc set full polished for 189 australian 2weeks ago in saying that I didn't get no extensions but he did say there free. I done the maths and in us 189 aus is 115us so when u look at it that way his mark up is more than double... What's ur thoughts do you think he's doubling the price or is he adding the price of the extensions that he claims are free.. Just thought I'd ask what ur opinion is.. As far as pass thru socket sets, I got the Harbor Freight set that has Sae and Metric for 20 bucks. I got it for just in case use at my job which Iam not a mechanic. I got trained on the street sweeper recently and there is a super long bolt on each sweeper brushes that you have to adjust every now and then while your sweeping. That set ended up coming in handy to have with me, no extra deep sockets would not even work, could use a ratchet wrench of course. It’s just nice having a pass thru set where you don’t need deep sockets and shallows, everything in a nice small package. I realize after I got that set, I should of got one along time ago. I might get another set for at home use, for just in case use.
