@@jimsteele710826 years here and the stubs were driving me crazy after the first cut. Then I was wondering why they chose to set the rigging block directly over the house. And in my conclusion a speed line running straight to the chipper would have been my choice of rigging methods. The climber, and the other guys look like they were in their early 20’s and probably fairly green but as you said those stubs should’ve been cut flush as he worked his way up no matter how it was being rigged.

I did a little tree removal with GA Power many years ago. I here to tell you men you did a great job. It was unfortunate that the water line was there, but, things happen sometimes that you have no control over. You worked great as a team. Also, the man in the hooks ,my hat us of to him. I worked for my uncle as a ground man many times when he took down bigger trees than the one in this video. Steady slow and safe is the name of the game. Fast is slow and slow is fast was the first thing he taught me and I asked him what it meant. He pulled off his shirt and I saw multiple scars from as he put it young dum and unwilling to listen to anyone one day older than him. His first job taking down a large weeping willow a large branch dumped him and the branch from near 80 feet, when he opened his eyes he was told don't move then saw the branch some 6 inches in diameter sticking out of the right side of his chest. The doctors were shocked when they removed the branch and found no major damage. He went home 5 days later and Monday was back to finish the job, he told me that he listened to older people that had been doing tree work and hired an old logger who had one leg removed from a falling accident who couldn't climb anymore but told him what to do and how to take down a tree without killing or hurting yourself or someone else. I had a few chips and bruises but never a major injury. I was 11 years old when I started as a groundman. I quit when I enlisted in the Army. The old logger was a spar high top man in Washington State and worked there as a logger for 27 years before he lost his leg. Was dropping a western cedar when it split vertically and threw him over 100 feet and broke his left leg in 9 places so the doc amputated it he didn't even know what happened until he woke up three days later in the hospital. His falling partner was killed when he was thrown into a large rock killing him instantly. The crew thought they lost both of them when it happened. The old logger is the reason my uncle lived to a ripe old age with only bumps and bruises after his first and last major tree accident. This crew in the video is doing it exactly as my uncle and me would take down a tree that size. All you guys out there saying he should be using a crane, instead of proclaiming your informed decision get off your ass and go work for a tree company or a logger and find out what life is about. It's not a video game guys. Real people get hurt and killed doing this every day. Stay safe out there guys.

BTW the cost is why I don't let trees get big anywhere near my house. Twenty feet tall max then they come down. It's easy to plant replacements, preferably shrubbery instead of future cash sinks. Trees are pretty, but they destroy your savings if you leave them too long which so many do because they don't know any better. If you have to call a tree service see about removing everything you can in one job.

they bust a water line. how good can they be? I sat here thinking that huge tree is going to cause some depression and affect a water line before it happened. How could they not? Sloppy work. They needed to cut at least ten foot of that tree again.

Some day, probably in the far, far distant future, someone will invent crane trucks.

Also that the climber was asking “how many wraps.” The rope guy had. He scolded the rope guy. The climber should always tell the rope guy how many wraps to take. He is the closest to the wood. I’ll watch a little more...a lot of people critic this video for good reason.

I hate climbing wet pines! I also get frustrated when my rope man on the porter wrap gets stuff hung up, that’s a lot of precious energy going up and down. Good stuff man!

I would've saved the main parts of the big branches, it's the best firewood. This is NOT an occupation for the Snowflake generation. Pretty cool.

Actually, not the best firewood. It's not good for the chimney.

That fellow climbing was really good, knows his stuff, I can't believe he went hand over hand up that rope - try doing that sometime and you'll see how much strength it takes to do that! He's a very experienced climber and did a great job here - I'd hire him if he was in area.

How that man had the strength especially in his legs to stay up in that tree that long and working is amazing . He does have a rope holding him but all of the pressure is still on his legs . Tough as nails .

Wonderful viewing - how awesome was the dropping of the huge pine tree without crane or cherry picker - and within a few metres of the homes - all down to the expertise of the first class team. ...Bravo and cheers.

Very skillful climber. Great job!! But did anyone else think that boss at the beginning sound like a douche? I almost stopped there
@tymesho7 ай бұрын
@@tommieragsdale811 I caught that as well. The way he got past it told me this gig had him worried. For good reason, job sites like this takedown can make or break you, especially if you're a young company. In hindsight, this should have been an automatic crane pick job, but I cut my teeth in Humbolt County, California. THOSE boys get trees (redwoods) done every day climbing and tend to chuckle at cranes.

I've done climbing work like that, best part of the job is when your back on the ground. Should have chunked it down all the way, that's going to be expensive to repair the water main, live and learn

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Was it the water service to the house or the main out on the street. I heard the homeowner say he and his neighbors had water, so I'm assuming it was the main out on the street, it was a lot of water. It probably cost as much or more than the cost of cutting down the tree.
@johngoodine58344 жыл бұрын
Rope work looked great... only thing I'd like to know is why are your spikes not biting into that tree. I have long gaffs on my climbers and never had them slip that bad.... not criticizing ... just wondering what was going on with the climbers..

Are the arborists responsible for the busted water line repair/replacement and for the cleaning of the roof and gutters? Also, as straight as that trunk was, can the wood not be sold to a furniture maker or floorer?

I feel for you guys (the working crew). You spent alot of energy on this removal. It really sucks that something broke just at the end ... (a water line). I hope you didn't have to collect your insurance !?! ... Keep up the good work !

felled a very tall tree, worked with 3 people who were compact and professional, I watched it to the point of my heart, which is above the extraordinarily strong physique, cut down about 2 meters from top to bottom, good luck, greetings from Indonesia.
