I like the 14 pattern yes it is on the small size but still capable, You get great walk and talk with a strong back spring too. The etch on the blade does come of very easily unfortunately especially if you keep polishing it as I found out lol but it’s not a deal breaker. 👍🙂

Not nitro-glycerine old chap, otherwise they'd blow Titusville sky-high! Liquid nitrogen perhaps... They do know what they're doing with Sambar Stag at GEC don't they? My first GEC was a stag #48 (slimline dogleg trapper, aka weasel), and I'd never heard of GEC - I bought it because I'd never seen quality like that before, even though I thought I was being ripped off on the price (which I wasn't at all). The #14 is a small pattern - I think it's known as a Pemberton? Long pull vs nail nick? To my eye the long pull looks better on the Northfield, and the nail nick looks best on the Tidioute, which is just as well really! Happily, that Northfield etch wears off pretty rapidly in normal use, I find - agreed it's not a great feature, I've heard the Yanks call them 'billboard knives'. I suppose serious 'collectors' will want to keep the etch pristine, but I use my knives, so I just polish it off.

Yeah the 14 pattern is the smallest........ then the 15......... and the 77 is the biggest!!!!!! I kept making the same mistake!!!!!!
