Note for question one in my video there are two correct answers (a and c). HOWEVER, on the real GED math test, when multiple choice, there will only be ONE correct answer.

Hello hope all is well and thank you for all your great videos it’s definitely bringing up my confidence level !!! So on question 1 you said if the 0 or X value is repeated and the Y values are also repeated will any repeated ordered pairs make it a function as well?? For example x 1,y 4 / x1,y4 ? Or does that only apply when it’s only zeros??
@KoffiBossoMath10 ай бұрын
Great question. You can't have the same X and the same Y in the same diagram. So for example, X= 1 Y= 4 and X=1 Y=4 can't be given in the same relation. Based on the definition of a function, do not worry about the Y part. Just check X. Does X repeat? If yes, then this is not a function. Does that help?

So for number one, does the test sometimes have multiple right answers? I feel like I've encountered that in practice. If not, which of the two would you select?
@WeissVideos3 жыл бұрын
Chad that is a great question! On the actual test if it is multiple choice there will only be one correct answer. I didn't mean to confuse you here. I I was just trying to give you extra practice with functions. (I probably should have set up question 1 in this video where there is only one correct answer). In short, for this video there are actually 2 tables that represent functions, a and c.

Part 1 answer 20 i.e D Part 2 answer: 1.5 Explanations below Part 1: After looking at this you should notice that there are 2 times where the distance is the farthest. It occurs at 20 minutes and 60 minutes. The respective distance for both these times is 20 miles. i.e 20 miles is the highest point on the graph. So the answer is D. Part 2: Think the following: from 30 to 40 minutes (note this is 10 minutes), you travelled 15 miles. Hopefully you can see this from the graph. Distance/time = average speed. so 15 miles/10 minutes = 1.5 miles/minute. so just type in 1.5. (Note the answer is not negative because we are dealing with average speed which is only positive. Note if the question asked for average velocity then your answer would be negative because velocity indicates direction.) You can also look at this problem as a slope problem just find the rise/run i.e the change of y over the change of x for that interval. ( but remember just because the slope is negative you would not include the negative sign in your answer because, again average speed can only be positive. Hope this makes sense.

I failed the math hiset a few days ago. I was under the impression i could use a ti 30xs calculator so i studied the calculator. The ged uses ti 30xs calculator but the HiSET math uses a four function basic calculator. Im retaking it on Monday, it’s my last test so I’ll be finished if i pass. There’s a lot of slope questions, you have to know how to solve for slope. Also a lot of word problems expressed as an equation with minor differences between the answer choices so you have to know that too.it’s mostly algebra and slope questions. I saw a video that says in 2014 they changed the ged from barely passing high school to college entrance level math just to pass the ged/hiset/tasc.
