I use this watch for travel in case I lose my passport. I do not take my phone to foreign countries so I input all my emergency data...(passport number, some credit card info, phone numbers of credit card companies, emergency numbers, phone of American embassy). It is all unhakable since it has no Internet connection. Maybe this is why Bill Gates wears one!

I use the Databank as I work in construction and I don't carry my phone while working due to the risk of breakage. I like the calculator for measurements and material quantities. The Databank is useful to store door + gate codes etc.

I'm a engineer in electronics and regenerative energy systems. I sometimes wear this one and the c53-w1 but just for the retro feeling. I sadly dont have any use for a calculator without scientific operations. It's sad that casio doesn't produce scientific calculator watches like the cfx-200 anymore. I would definitely buy one.

This is my everyday watch and I absolutely love it! While I don't use anything beyond the watch and calculator functions, it has done me perfectly well for the nearly 2 years I've had it. Knowing now all the pop culture references it has, I just love it all the more now!

I think, younger friends will find it ridiculous to wear a watch looking like a tiny calculator but it was the thing when it was launched. You were carrying some data with you and was available anytime you need it. Also it has multi-function such as calculator and you could show off to your friends "hold on, let me calculate" and boom, *achievement: mission impressing friends completed* :). I am still wearing different kinds of databank models (wearing EDB-610 as I am typing). Love the retro feel, the beeps, and lots of buttons, other than that yeah, mostly useless nowadays but great novelty items. Lastly, I think soon all the vintage versions of the databank will not be able to show the calendar cause most are limited to 2039 I think, or less.

I've had the same one for 9 years. It's definitely water-resistant to some degree. I've actually absent-mindedly swam with it a couple of times. Definitely fine for when you wash your hands or when it rains. I wouldn't push the buttons or dive with it, though.

2019 at smartwatch age...my entire office laugh so hard when i use this casio calculator,but yeah...i love it,i love casio digital at first place,i collect several model of casio and have some g shock too. Edit:better to buy casio with stainless band,resin band always broke after 2 years or more,except you only buy it for collector item it's fine.

Perth WAtch Well, thank you for asking :D I wanted change because 6 years of seeing the same f*cking watch on my wrist made me super bored with it. I bought Seiko because it has awesome opinions and I really liked those field aesthetics of this SNZG13K1. Another thing that had big impact on the choice was money, I had other things to spend 💲💲💲on and the fact that I'm just 15 didn't make earning it easier ;) I'm passionate about watches since I'm really young because my dad has some collection :) And now I will start saving up for something Swiss made like Tissot Visodate. Haha great to hear that... well yes I can totally understand getting sick of the same watch, I think I pretty much did the same thing as you at that time of life, had an old Tag 3000 I wore all through high school and beyond! 1 of the weird advantage of this watch amongst Casio/G shock watches is that it has loud and audible hour / signal alarms . most casio or g shock watches the alarm are really too soft to be audible. i set this to hourly alarm to remind me of each hour passed

Nice review...again!!! They're nostalgia watches, I had a Seiko memory bank calendar back in the early 80's, Roger Moore wore one in one of his later bond films, loved it when I had it, and I've been looking for one on the bay. Just reminds me of earlier times, and was and is, a Bond watch I could actually afford. For me it's nice to have something in the collection that's from 'the old days'. Great talking points as well. Wear one, the Casio, and see how many people ask about it.

This was my dream watch way back in 1986 when I was a little kid and I just could not get my hands on it. This was when Knight Rider and the KITT intercom watch were the in thing too! This was the closest we could get to pretending we had a Knight Rider watch back then... Nostalgic!

Please also review DB-36. The databank is useful for storing Mullvad pins, crypto mnemonics (if you sacrifice the first letter as an index for autosort) and so on. And yes, some people still use it as a backup for storing numbers, because a cheap watch is much less likely to be stolen, searched or confiscated than a phone or even a paper notebook. Very handy in a hostile environment.

i like how it says "illuminator" but it has the bulb light. On the other hand, I'm more confident I actually have a real one. Have it since 2007. Still on the same battery, even though I rarely use/wear it. Loses the display if I bend it a little in a certain way.

I have one of these and have been wearing it for 6 years. It is a great watch, but its seconds run a little bit faster than other watches. When I first bought it, the time was about 10 minutes ahead. Now it is 25 minutes ahead and it keeps going further.

I just got the original version that marty mcfly wears in back to the future. The model is CA53W. I believe that the only difference between the ones being sold today vs during filming back to the future is, today's model is made in China. Where as the older models were made in Japan. And sadly theres no light on the this model. But I'm a huge back to the future fan. I just wanted it for a collector reasons

I work in a prison so no devices with any sort of connectivity are allowed. Technically the fact that the databank has internal memory probably makes it a bit dicey but you can't do much with it.

This data bank is one mean machine. It calculates. Tells time , day , date the year and the century you happen to be in. And stores a lot of data.

It only tells you the day, date, and year (which BTW includes century, that’s not a separate “feature”) after you tell it the day, date, and year 😂😂 And it stores a tiny amount of data.

I actually just picked this watch up, it is a special one, special because it was worn in Child's Play 2019 and the part that sucks is you said it's not water resistant, because it has blood splatter from when the character died in the movie. It's definitely a cool watch, but even cooler cause it was in the film. 😀😀

Just occurred to me that a databank would be great for storing online passwords. It's an offline device, can't be hacked. And you can easily retrieve sensitive passwords you use online. There might be some practical problems with password syntax, but if you don't mind a password that looks like AIFHTIXH9478475 then it's perfect.

That’s a good thought, I like that. Limitations I can think of would be that many sites now require inclusion of a special character (@,$,#,% etc) many of which can’t be duplicated here, and also it may be tricky to indicate which account the password pertains to...

That's actually a good idea! Mine is currently on the way, and I got a metal one for the geek factor and because it would look ridicules in a good way above my SSB319P1, where it is protected by a sleeve. I can just reuse a string with characters and such for all services, and mix that with the numbers. Secure enough for me, and then I can actually use the databank and finally fix my reuse of passwords. Though I will backup those to a encrypted file on the USB stick I carry around, because that's more secure than a booklet in my opinion.

' . : / + - which is odd, because those are 26+1+10+9=46 characters, so they need at least 6 bits for each character (2^5=32 so 5 bits are too few, but 2^6=64) so they had room for 18 more characters...

I'm wondering if the chart in the instructions are not just a chart in itself for general purposes if and only if your current watch reflects water resistance on the hardware

That does not give an indication of whether the front keys on the calculator portion, possibly a key cover glued on, I wonder if... I've not removed the screws yet because I just got the watch a couple of days ago and if it is a seal of some kind well I don't know

I've heard mixed things about these watches getting wet. I heard someone took a DBC 150 data bank in the pool and it was fine but that's a different model that will run like $300 in bran new condition.
