They updated the game but still uses those stupid ass clips for stat counter? did they not hear the complaints about those?

They did make a upgrade kit for the original that uses dials instead. I can understand the clips for cost reasons. I would 100% pay more for something higher quality

@@sciencepartners6218 I would say the clips have the OPPOSITE problem now. At least for my copies of Legacy, the clips are now WAY too tight, to the point of damaging the stat board. I still use the taping the edges solution so I can slide them. Maybe 3rd version of the game and they will get the Goldilocks zone?

Not sure if the haunt roll was explained correctly or if it is different from the other Betrayals but you're not supposed to roll a number of dice equals to the amount of revealed omens, you're supposed to roll 6 dice and roll a value equal or greater than the amout of omen revealed.

Original Betrayal is played with the "roll 6 dice" rule, Betrayal Baulders Gate is played with the "roll dice = the number of omen cards". So really it depends which rule they put into this game.

Yeah just read the rule book for betrayal at baldurs gate and tbh I don't think they should have made it that way for many reasons. First that means there is a slight yet possible chance that the haunt never reveal (it is very unlikely but not impossible) as opposed to the original where at omen 13 the haunt happens no matter what. Second, there's only 8 dice in the game, if you roll dice equal to the amount of omen on the table, what happens at omen 9? The game was not desinged around this flaw. Those are very improbable case I grant you that but still if there is even a possibility that the haunt never occurs, then the game is flawed.

Yeah I don't know about that. There's 13 Omen cards in the game so when the last one is drawn you have to roll 13 dice so the chance of you rolling under a 6 is very low but it's not zero. But I wonder what the odds really are after that many rolls because anything after the 5th one has a better than 50% chance so it might be a sort of virtual zero situation. Also I would just roll the extra 8 dice as needed because it doesn't say "Maximum 8 dice" for the haunt roll like it does for some other things in the game.

@@HarryBOBX I've rolled attack rolls with 8 dice and have had lower than a 3, it's fairly possible. on 13 dice the chance to roll all 0s is 1 in 531441 so i guess the odds of rolling less than 6 is around 1 in 80 000 (roughly). It's not much, granted but it's a lot more than trying to roll 13 or more on 6 dice.

Yes and no. While there are a lot more rules and terminology used in Legacy, it is basically the same game. I haven't had much time to play Legacy yet myself, but I did just manage to make a few friends play the original and they now want to make Legacy a weekly thing.

I think is best if you play them with the same people. but I have played this one with different people (we are 4 who always play and the 5th character is for a 'guest'). Also, in the case of this game, once you have played the main campaign (16 haunts) and have finished finding all the tiles, cards, putting all the stickers... you make no additional changes to the game and now you can play the rest of the haunts you never played (you can even play most you played during the campaign) in 'Free-play' mode.

Oddly enough on their playthrough of the game literally no one did haunt rolls in the chapters when they were told to do haunt rolls.

Are the two scenario books consistent between each other, is it clear what is public information and what isn't, and did WotC/Avalon Hill learn their lesson about hiring drunk Russians to proofread their rules after the last two (and a half) versions of this game?

That's okay. Legacy boardgames are not for everyone. It includes things like putting stickers in the rulebook, writing on the board and destroying cards. Definitely not a thing for people who would never consider doing those things to their games.

I am super hype for this, that being said I have no intention of destroying anything that comes with the game, or making any of the stickers permanent. Will just laminate the cards, stickers and whatever else is needed, then use tape to stick them together (lets us remove the stickers once we finish the whole campaign). As well as just getting a zip lock bag and labeling it garbage to put any cards/etc that are to be "destroyed" inside it. Thus we can still play it fresh once again at a later date. @@MechagirlSachiko

I like the idea of the game evolving as you play it, but permanently filling the manual with stickers and tearing or burning cards makes my preservationist self scream in agony. That said, preserving everything for this game will be a bit harder than usual, I think.

The original Betrayal is one of our group's favorites. However, the expansion, Widow's Walk, was atrocious and nearly unplayable, so we pulled it out. That leaves me conflicted about this. We've played a few legacy games (Pandemic season 1, Seafall), so that's not a problem, but that we all hated Widow's Walk makes me wary.

mrphangoldwing ok legacy games are a genre of games that you mark stuff so the first about 15 games are different and create a campaign. Usually the game is still playable after the campaign and is unique for each copy

@@mrphangoldwing More technically, a "legacy" game is a game where playing it causes permanent changes to the physical game itself. Adding stickers, destroying cards, writing on things, etc. See Risk Legacy, Seafall, Charterstone, Gloomhaven and Pandemic Legacy for other examples.
