Try doing a 95% copper 5% aluminum mix. It makes a more golden colour.

Very interesting videos. I found myself wondering about the quenching. In the first video in the series, you mentioned the problem with this alloy becoming brittle. Would allowing the casting to cool slowly result in less brittleness? I think I am associating fast cooling with more hardness. Note: This question comes from someone who has not personally done casting although I did make a few molds which were used for lost wax with gold. Thanks for sharing your videos.

why 11% al and 89% cu? can you do it 50/50?

You're losing some of your copper weight to the insulation on the wire. You should incinerate your wire first to burn off the lacquer insulation, then weigh it.

You didn’t show how much they weighed so how much did they weigh

How do you figure out aluminum to copper . What is the ✍🏻formula to get 89 aluminum to 11 copper. I tried I got it way wrong 👎🏻

Since it's being done by weight I'm guessing Divide the weight of the Copper by 89 to get 1% then multiply that by 11 for Aluminum to get 11% It says 89% Copper to 11% not the other way around. Copper is heavy and Aluminum is light so by volume I couldn't say what it would be. If i's a case of you are trying to make something weighing 1 kg then it might be something where it's 890g Copper and 110g Aluminum but I'm not sure to be honest.

Just realised I said divide by 100 instead of 89 so edited comment ;)

You would also probably do well to do a normal 2 sided mold with a sprue and riser... that will eliminate your cavitation problem and also help reduce shrinkage as it cools so you get a more true to form casting.

Your right, that would help.

I wish I did. Most of my other videos shows that process. Thanks for watching.
