Actually the IMEI SV shows the software version that has been loaded into the phone. It has absolutely nothing to do with how many times a phone has been refurbished. I'm a professional repair technician. I think I would know. You should do your research before you panic almost everyone over the Internet.

You have right! MEI Sv is the IMEI plus software/firmware version a phone is running. It is useful when for same IMEI , different software versions needs to be updated. Example , when a phone is purchased its software version is 1, on next updates it becomes to 2. The IMEISV (IMEI Software Version), includes the 14-digit number plus two digits for the version of the device's software. (this is the right answer that I found in another site)!

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity, and SV stands for software version. IMEI SV is a 16-digit number that includes 14 digits and two software version digits. The 01 in IMEISV 01 means the software version number is 1.

The easiest way is to know the warranty. If its warranty under supplier, means its refurbished and u just can only claim the warranty under the seller that u bought from. If its warranty under local manufacture, means its new and u can claim the warranty to all its agent.

SV stands for Software Version...it will get updated whenever new software update installed on phone.. nothing to do with refurbished and all.

I am a professional repair technician and can confirm that the IMEI SV indicates the software version that has been loaded into the phone for it to be able to operate. It has nothing to do with whether or not the phone has been refurbished.

I'm a developer for android. Don't pay this man any mind. The entire video is false. P1 devices and GSMA will always show a SVW as 00. P2 devices can show anywhere from 00 all through the 90s. Dont panic or make a fool of yourself at the retailer over this information. This guy needs to take this video down. He makes actual tech personal look bad with his second grade idea. Truth is, it's not easy to tell if a phone is refirb. Apple yes. It's in the SN. IPhone F means refirbished. Android, used to be in RTN menu however was disabled. There are 3rd party apps claiming to tell you, as well as online apps which request payment for the information. Those are false and more than likely will not help your case. Same as IMEI trackers. You cannot track a imei but people claim online to be able to do so for payment all the time. Don't fall for any of these.
