Many of his soldiers were also not fully healthy but they came to India thinking they will easily conquer. But they were quashed by Porus and infact it was Alexander who was left alive to leave India because Indian rulers always spared great warriors. But on the way Alexander's wounds took toll of him!

It is said that after the battle when Shivaji maharaj ordered his troops to bring the body of Baji Prabhu Deshpande from the battlefield to give last rites and honours, it was impossible to find his body as it was teared into pieces by Abdilsha army. They vent all their anger on his body after he died. Baji Prabhu age was around 45, very strongly built, carrying sword in one hand and Dand-patta (Long broad belt like flexible sword with sharpness on both sides) in another is not possible in todays age. Imagine fighting continuously with these weapons for 8-10 hours without a break, without eating anything. Each soldier fought with 20 enemy soldier. If 1 dies, another will have to fight with 40 enemy soldier...such was the bravery. When you read or hear this story, it still gives goose bumps...no matter how many times you hear it.. And because such brave men, Shivaji maharaj could fight for Swarajya ( Freedom)... Baji Prabhu Deshpande....A Legend..

Baji Prabhu was the the most severe with Moguls. He fought with two swords till he died. There was another like that that happened in 1971 when a platoon held down and full force and tanks regiment till dawn when the air crafts destroyed them and finally the Pakistani troops ran away.

Shivaji maharaj never said him to stay there but he chose to stay there and stop the troops. He said, "Maharaj (king), you will get many mavale (warriors) like us but swarajya (our country) won't get a king like you, so i stay here and you go further. While fighting Baji prabhu Deshpande lost his shield due to constant attacks so he fought with turning cloth of his turban around his hand. And fight went till next morning..

Hey guys, thanks for this video. I'm from Maharashtra region of India where this actually happened. Let me tell you the things missing in the video. This army was not on horses and was walking 64 kilometres. This battle was started around 9 am and finished around 6 pm. Forces was empty stomach. When Siddhi Johar asks his gunman to shot Baji down then he was confused and not able to detect him as each of the soldier was fighting like Baji. Baji was using 2 swords 6.5 kg each. He was around 45-50 of age when battle happened. Only 100 soldiers was in front line and 35 soldiers in second line. Each soldier have to fight with 10 opponents at a time if 1 soldier falls another soldier from 2nd line will take his place.

Every year july trek on their honour conducted by the comunity. its 2 days walk of around 75+ kms. All age group (6years old to 65 years old) takes part in this trek. i take part in this trek every year from past 5 years and last year trek was made into Asian record book for largest participants completing the trek. there is more to that story though. Not only that there were also various other spectacular battles fought in Indian soil Battle of Chamkaur Sahib- 40 Sikhs led by Guru Gobind Singh fought against the massive Mughal Forces of 1million. Battle of Saragarhi- 21 Sikh soldiers of the erstwhile British Indian Army fought bravely against a more than 10000 Afghan tribals and prevented an attempt to seize the Saragarhi out post Battle of Longewala- 1971- Here 120 soldiers of Indian Army's 23 Punjab Regiment led by then Major late Kuldip Singh Chandpuri gave a stiff resistance to the 2000+ Pakistani Infantrymen and Artillery regiment until the air support in the next day morning

There is no comparison between spartan 300 and BajiPrabhu 300. Spartan was indeed best on the earth in their time, but their reason for superiority was their phalanx formation on Plain Grassland whereas in the case of BajiPrabhu it was about the initiative of each and every individual soldier as there is no formation for swordsmen moving in mountainous forests.

There are differences in the numbers. The adilshahi army was 20,000 in numbers including 8000 on horse and 12000 on legs. It was Bajiprabhu that insisted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for forward with 300 maratha soldiers to Vishalgadh and he along with remaining 300 maratha soldiers will fight with adilshahi army. He said,”if the millions died while protecting Swarajya, it is fine, but the Protector of millions (Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj) should be alive”. The battle last for 9 hours and Bajiprabhu was fighting with Danpatta (flexible sword that measures 2 meters in Length) that can cut 6 people in a single swing. It os indeed a great battle in Maratha history. I recommend you to react to many of the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj videos, that will give you the goosebumps.
