Thanks for the great story. I will like to add here that the Marathas had travelled 62 Kms on foot at that night after escaping from a seize of 40000 Siddhi's soldiers after which Baji Prabhu and his 300 brave hearts volunteered for their final stand without having proper weapons, food or rest. A battle which was supposed to last for 3-4 hours (Only 10 Kms distance was left to be covered by Shivaji Maharaj to reach Vishal Ghad) was stretched to 12-14 hours as there was a seize at Vishal Ghad fort too of 2000 SIddhi Soldiers which Maharaj had to break though with his 300 soldiers. It is written in History that a gunmen was ordered to shoot the person who is completely covered by blood ,, identifying him as BAJI Prabhu himself, the Mughal army has described Baji as " That night we saw the Devil himself with two sword in his hands and cutting down great warriors like they were nothing" Even after taking a bullet in the chest Baji kept on fighting for 3-4 hours, he make the Ghod khind a Pavan Khind with his and his warrior's blood. Once when Chatrapati Shivajimaharaj was on visit to South India, the ruler of present Karnataka, showed Shivajimaharaj his army and when he showed his 1000+ elephants, Shivajimaharaj were stunned. Seeing that he asked whether Shivajimaharaj also has elephants like that, Maharaj replied no but we have men worth of defeating elephants. So the ruler asked Maharaj to show one of them, and Shivajimaharaj introduced him to veer Yesaji. Then the ruler asked Maharaj to have a 1on1 of Yesaji ji with one of his elephant. Yesaji ji agreed and asked for the permission from Shivajimaharaj. Maharaj replied with yes and Veer Yesaji ji DEFEATED the elephant with his sword. Makes me really proud.

Thanks a lot for the enlightening the rest of India about the great Warriors of Maratha clan & Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This Chatrapati fought not for his name but for the country, Hindu people, and to attain ultimately the Hindavi Swarajya. His Lieutenants & soldiers selected were the Gems of the lot. Kavi Bhushan wrote about him as " न होता शिवाजी तो सुन्नत होती सबकी ". It's gathered from your talks that you like these stories very much. You may also pl study about Chatrapati Sambhaji, and Kolhapur Maharani Tarabai, with chiftains who fought against Mughal Army of Emperor Aurangzeb; Aurangzeb at last died without any Success in defeating Marathas. Thereafter it was the Stories of Valient Peshvas (under the Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Satara, direct descendant of Shivrai, & son of Sambhaji) & their equally brave Sardars who extended the Maratha Empire in most of North India with Mughal Badshah of Delhi under their control . Likewise , Even stories of King Chatrasal of Bundelkhand who also didn't give up to Aurangzeb. Lastly, when Marathas under Peshva Bajirao the second, lost the battle to English Army , almost 3/4 of India was under British. Then again the war of 1857 after which British got the total control. Request if you can enlighten the people of the bravery of our Hindus, at least their morale will be from the present inferiority complex.

An amazing piece of Indian history. Very well narrated Sharmaji. It's a pity that us Indians are not taught about such acts of selfless bravery in school. Such examples of morale boosting acts should be made compulsory in schools instead of storries about how Indians only lost battles against foreign invaders. We need to teach our children a balanced view of our history.

I had my schooling in Gujarat. And now I remember that, history lessons were full of mogul empires and other vendals. We never learnt so detailed description of Brave Indian warriors like Maratha and Rajputs and Sikhs. I even don't know any other warrior clans of ancient India. When we were in school...we were only taught about the battles Indians lost. Slowly when I am re-reading the history of India, I realize so much of our very own brave history was hidden from us in school. The sacrifices, local Sanatan Dharmi kings and our ancestors made to ensure that this civilization is not wiped out is immense. Time has come to to re-write the history of India. The bravery of our ancestors should not be forgotten. For because of them, we are still able to follow our culture and our ancient ways of living. Otherwise we all would be Muslims or Christians today. Just like the Middle East, Europe or the Americas.

Thanks a lot for taking me down memory lane to very inspiring story of Bajiprabhu Deshpande and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which I had read in history books in school days. I visited the Pawan Khind site few years back and was really surprised as to how Bajiprabhu and his veer sainik must have fought huge enemies in dark night and tough terrain because even today the Pawan Khind is very difficult to climb.

Hey Shyam one of the hero's you mentioned in the video is shiva kashid (guy who volunteered to be Shivaji during the escape plan). He knew it was a suicide mission as once captured death was imminent by the Adilshahi forces. (When the forces came to know he is not real Shivaji the heads attacked him and kept him asking who is Shivaji and just before they severed his head (there is a monument at the same place where this happened in maharashtra now) he said i may have been born shiva kashid but i get to die as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj..my life is blessed). he was as brave as 300 who fought the forces later..here is a video animated one for your reference kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWHVaoaBideLjNk
