Geese Being Herded Along Mumbles Road, Swansea

These geese from the local park have been causing chaos to rush-hour traffic recently, by wandering away from the park lake to graze on the roadside verges, sometimes crossing the busy road to feed on the greener pastures on the other side. Walking home this evening, I spotted two cyclists herding the geese from Swansea University back to their rightful place in the park next door. Excuse the grainy footage, but it was nearly dark. Thanks, Cathy. They've only recently started leaving the park and I worry if one rushes into the road as a car is speeding past, it could result in carnage - not nice for people or geese...

These geese were not in the right place during the rush-hour traffic ! Cyclists did well to help them get to the right place for everyone's safety. Great capture.

They were lucky with the thoughtful cyclists .Say this for Manchester The traffic stops and people go and keep it stopped whilst geese ( there are loads in M/C) get across ...Lovely video footage of humanity at it's best :) *

Thanks, Helena. Nice to know they Manchester is a goose-loving city! Funny thing is, these geese have been in this park for the time I've been in Swansea (19 years), and it's only now they've started venturing out and wandering along the road. I worry there's going to be a nasty accident soon...

Manchester motorists and public are very much like these terrific cyclists the geese do actually head for traffic lights in Manchester , which is amazing since few people do.What time of day is this Strange they are out so late and what has caused them to start leaving the park ..Have faith in people and the geese ..Clearly they geese your end like a great night out .)

This was about 5 p.m. or so. I now have visions of Mancunian geese pressing the buttons of pedestrian crossings and crossing over the road only when the lights go green. Reminds of when my favourite political party, the Monster Raving Loonies, had a policy of lowering the buttons on pedestrian crossings so hedgehogs could cross in safety.
