Of all the insults l Anakin Skywalker suffered at the hands of the Jedi Council, being ordered to save the nephew of the slave trading gangster who used to own him and his mother is possibly the greatest. Somehow he managed to accomplish that mission and not murder everyone involved, which is shows very admirable restraint on his part, I think.

I get what you're swaying, but by the time of the Clone Wars Anakin has swapped hatred of being a slave with hatred of the people that would hurt Padme, mainly the Separatists. So even if he wouldn't like it, he'd understand that nephew is just a baby and want to do it to hurt the Separatists and the CIS.

The fleet did cover Anakin's jump to Tatooine which allowed for Rotta's safe return to Jabba and thus the Republic gaining access to Hutt trade routes for fleet movement. So this battle, and the Republic fleet that participated in it, were an invaluable victory in the war. And the battle as a whole was an amazing, if underrated, battle.

Oh, there are plenty of battles from the Clone Wars, both Canon and Legends, that we could talk about. I've always been a big fan of the Battle of Dathomir and while it isn't a battle the mission to the Citadel has always been a personal favorite of mine. Not to mention, there's also all those battles we briefly saw in Chapter 22 of the 2003 Clone Wars micro-series with the exception of the Battle of Bal'demnic, since you already did a video on that battle. And there's also the Battle of Tythe.

Teth was a textbook example of Jedi incompetence. It was the perfect opportunity for an Airborne assault using jetpacks and LAATs but instead they wasted time and lives climbing a bluff.
@nicholaswalsh4462 Жыл бұрын
Skywalker and Tano arrived in an Acclamator transport. They were informed that there were at least two droid battalions guarding the Temple. That indicates approximately 5,000 droids without armor support, instead using STAPs and DSDs for scouting and fire support. The Scouts say they can't land there but they don't need to. The 501st is demonstrated to be highly trained in the use of jetpacks. So the obvious answer is to take the 66 LAAT/i gunships that an Acclamator has, load them up with about 2,000 clone troopers outfitted with jetpacks, and then drop them from around 11,000 meters altitude. They freefall until they reach about 1,000 meters or less (I'd suggest freefalling until only about 250 meters to minimize exposure to ground fire). The advantages are numerous. First, it removes the need to make a multi-kilometer climb up a sheer cliff face that provides the numerically superior enemy force with a defiladed position while denying the attacking force any sort of cover. Second, it removes the risk of enemy ground fire, since the CIS has not installed heavy cannons that could reach those altitudes and the DSDs lack the necessary range. Finally, the freefall and low altitude of jetpack activation combine to given the battle droids only a few minutes warning that the attack is underway, leaving them little to no time to organize a defense or call for reinforcements. More importantly, the nature of jetpacks and the 501sts demonstrated capability with them would allow troopers to take commanding positions along the walls, towers, and rooftops of the Temple, allowing them to engage the droids from multiple angles while gaining full benefits of cover and rapid access to the temple interior from multiple points. With the first wave deployed, the gunships can return to the waiting transport and deploy additional forces, even landing the tanks to provide an air defense perimeter against any CIS reinforcements. In any event, the droids will be forced to spread out their forces to deal with the attackers already on the ground, leaving them more vulnerable to follow on landings
@viperson9818 Жыл бұрын
You could explain it was a rushed job. Anakin was informed by the scouts just mere hours before the rescue operation since the mission was time sensitive.

@@richardched6085 Yes, but Anakin's duel against Ventress on the Coruscant underlevels happened near the last year of the Clone Wars (specifically 20 BBY), while the Battle of Boz Pity happened on 19 BBY, which is essentially said last year.

@@michaelandreipalon359 The dates can be adjusted of course. Boz Pity was gutted heavily by Filoni's retcons. No reason why the 2+ years of Clone Wars media (2003-2005) can't be compressed into the first year of the war. Though anything post Rendili would be difficult if not impossible to reconcile.

I tune out any and all noise about what is considered "objectively good" SW content, primarily due to how story arcs like this are treated today. People look at this battle and go "sweet that's badass." But it isn't and never was. Rotta the hut was an awful storytelling device, never shows up again, and Anakin casually helping rescue the son of the enslavers of him and his mother is just such shitty writing. I personally think the writing has come a long way and love the later seasons, as well as the new shows. But this shit? This storyline was just garbage, and why people hate on Book of Boba Fett while praising early Clone Wars content is beyond me. Sheep/herd mentality is a hell of a drug. EDIT: OH and let's not forget Ventress showing up with ZERO good reason or explanation. Jesus Christ this show was rough in it's early years.
@michaelandreipalon359 Жыл бұрын
Oh, the show's still rough when it comes to the Clone Wars Multimedia Project that came before. Makes me cringe when people still praise this continuity snarl over the sagas of Quinlan Vos, the MedStar takes on Barriss Offee and Luminara Unduli, the Republic comics' bloodthirstiness, and so on.

I chuckled when Ventriss just bailed after the little crumb cruncher made it to Tatooine. Fuck the Munificient, it wasn’t her money, and fuck the droids cuz they’re, well, just droids. She learned from Grievous well to not risk herself for a bunch of disposable durasteel. Kinda irksome ~135 Clone brothers had to die over a future criminal despot for a current criminal despot. Ya I know, clearly the reward outweighed the cost. Still, I hate it when good men, good soldiers, are taken for granted.
