I met Terry Wetley, Geezer's tech, a year or so ago, at a Black Sabbath fan fest in NY the night before a show at MSG. We hit it off and talked gear - He told me that the pedal is a line driver, intended to only be used when Geezer would use a cable for whatever reason (the long cable run would weaken the signal). The Boss LS-2 was used to take the wah pedal out of the chain, as the long cable runs - you guessed it - weakened the signal. The wah only worked when Terry hit the Ls-2.

Just one last bit on Geezers effects. He also used the wah pedal on the Mob Rules album and in concert for songs off the album. When they were playing with Dio (just before his untimely death) they played stuff off that album live. You can see him playing teh wah on the DVD of "Heaven and Hell - Live at Radio City Music Hall 2007" (which, due to a great bit of luck, I was in attendance that night). Seen Geezer play many times. Still one of my favorites. Dio or Ozzy, both eras were Geezer tour-de-force's.

Thanks Jppagetoo I hadn't realised that. People like to choose Dio or Ozzy but come on ... It's Black Sabbath.

Someone should take the circuitry from those two Tycobrahes, and combine them into a single Siamese Twin monstrosity pedal, and it should be called, "The Loc-Nar", with a glow in the dark graphic of the evil green orb on the front. Well, at least I think so, as every time I hear E5150 and The Mob Rules, it's its scene in the movie Heavy Metal that I think of. I think Geezer also used them on The Dark, the intro to Zero the Hero on Born Again, the "Purple Sabbath" album...

I agree on the Line Driver, his EMGs are WHISPER quiet (I have them in my fretted and fretless Jazz basses with P/J and P pickups, absolutely amazing warm-ish vintage style pickups), so I don't think he'd have much use for a Noise Clamp, and since the majority of his tone comes from tube amps, I can imagine he'd want a lead boost here and there.

i highly doubt that's an AT3035 since it's a side address mic, from the shape of the mic and its placement i bet all i have(nothing) on it being a Heil PR30, the sE VR1 is a ribbon mic, bidirectional, hence, the sE screen
@WhichBass7 жыл бұрын
Hhmm, the engineer Greg Price has strewn a bunch of AT mic's across the stage for Tony and Tommy Clufetos' kit. It's not too much of a stretch to say Geezer might have an AT mic too. But I can't find evidence of the mic placement as you've suggested for an AT3035. The Heil PR40 is typically placed this way. So yeah it's possible.
@DavideGuerri7 жыл бұрын
the evidence for the AT 3035 is that i do studio and live sound engineering, i just know you don't place it like that :D
