Hey! Love your KZbin videos. I've just gotten back into bass and I'm stoked for to learn from you. I'm also a huge fan of Rex Brown. I took your advice and got myself a Boss Katana B110. Could you help me out (via video or whatever works) in getting that awesome Rex Brown tone? Let me know how I can help! Looking forward to hearing from you.

It sounds worse than most choruses. I believe this is a you problem and you just need a better chorus pedal.

Like 933 . Comment 100 ♥️ Now I am kicking myself . Sort of … I just recently purchased a “ FENPEG “. Haha Yeah - I have the Fender Rumble 500 on top of 210 cabinet . It seriously has a lot of power . Thunders !!! It’s surprisingly light too ( easy to transport to rehearsal and gigs ). We really do rock the joint ! Everyone always asks me “ how do you get that sound “?? It’s a combination between Duff and Dirnt . ( with a little Simonon in between ). I call my amp a “ FENPEG “. I use 4 pedals . All 4 are by Ampeg ( if you want to capture that SVT sound ). Side note - That’s all I used in the 90’s ( Ampeg ) and up until about 2010 . I sold all my amplifiers a dozen years ago . I have been on hiatus . So I’ve been back to playing again and I can’t afford what I originally had . So I went with the reasonable priced Fender Rumbles . No complaints. And when it’s time - I just stomp on those Ampeg pedals not only to sound more like an Ampeg - but these pedals bump that sound up with earth shaking results . For now - I am solid satisfied. But as time goes on , and more gigs start to accumulate, I’m probably going to switch to GK . I can’t wait to do a side by side comparison!!!!!!!! Thanks for these videos ♥️ PS - my current band plays everything from Beatles to Who - Cheap Trick to Cars - From GNR to Nirvana- from Foo Fighters to Green Day etc etc . I usually don’t use any effects when playing some of those intricate bass scales . Example Pinball Wizard. I just play clean . So it depends on the song . I use a pick most of the time . So I know when I grab that pick - it’s time to stomp on the pedals haha 😂 Ok Happy Playing everyone.

The P bass is easily the most versatile bass ever made. It doesn’t need any on board EQ preamp knobs or anything to try and change the sound because the sound it has works for everything. A ton of bottom end is not a bad problem to have, and you can brighten things up with roundwounds and whatever EQ options you have. Those peaveys are overrated asf and are one of the most uncomfortable basses I have ever played. Warwick, Spector, and Wal have way too much of a specific sound to be in S tier, A tier at best. S tier should be MIA P and J along with the standard Stingray and Yamaha BB. A tier to Wal, Spector/Warwick as well as Dingwall. None of the other tiers even matter although the MIM fenders are pretty good too.

I read somewhere many moons ago that the LD50 tone was his bass rig, plus a DI going through a Duel Rec. No idea whether this is accurate… but it would mean he wasn’t lying about using distortion ‘pedals’

This is so informative, particularly because it's such a weird collection of bass amps and cabs. As much as people think there'll be a secret to Geddy's sound, what really shines here is the fact that the secret was, there's no secret--at least, not in the gear. The Traynors at that time were made right here in Toronto, and he probably got them because they were convenient: I played guitar for years through a big Traynor solid-state keyboard amp because the price was right. But I get the feeling Geddy Lee could go into a pawnshop, buy a Squier precision bass and an old used Peavey amp, and in about five minutes of twisting dials sound just as good as he did on the records.

Steve Harris has state-of-the-art equipment as a bass player. But It is his very innovative techniques and his way to play bass guitar that make him a legendary bassist. His fingers move as fast as the speed of light on his instrument. Finally, he has his own sound on the bass guitar, which makes Steve Harris easily recognizable. A real legend on the bass. Steve Harris is again and always a true reference on the bass guitar.

This was a pretty good review. I love this bass and I was very fortunate to receive it as a gift however, for the price someone has to pay, I would expect better pickups. I ended up switching them out for Seymour Duncan's and now the bass kills, especially paired with my Sansamp Bass Driver. I understand setup is needed with a lot of basses/guitars when you buy them but this was the first time something like this happened to me, the neck was extremely loose. I got some pretty good turns with the screw driver until the neck was snug. Idk if anyone else here had that issue?? Anyways, love the bass, the feel, the design.

I'm not really sure why I'm watching this video, curiosity I guess. I pretty much always use my '68 Jazz i bought back in the very early '80's for £230. Great ergonomics, I had the pickups rewound over time as the windings broke down with age. Plays lovely, used live, in the studio etc. I have a Yamaha 5 string I occasionally use and a Hohner The Jack if I want an active sound and it only cost me £80 back in the mid 80's for what is a nice, very playable bass with a sound I like. I build my own amps so have a sound modded to my own preferences with a wide range. I picked all of my basses by sitting in the shop and playing them. My main regret is not buying a Rick 4001 back when they were cheap enough to be sensible.

I had the best guitar for his tone and you can get for dirt cheap they stop selling but they still author and market pretty cheap I've played Ivan as bases for years and years and there's so many different types I mean you can get a really similar great sound if you use the BTB basis even if you don't have a homebucker the 2 pickups together functioning like a gone bucker and they got extreme punch you don't want to use passive base like a Thunder I use those for classic Rock for all this stuff if you want to play stuff this from like the 90s to the 2000's modern area punching metal base you gotta ge it active I like active pick up an active preamp a lot of spaces Out There have passive pickups but the iban is Songer Extreme version came out a couple years ago and was Only out for Just a short while. There is whole bunch SR 3305445505 there's a whole bunch of different models I was pretty broke but I still was able to forward 300 Bucks for the sounded extreme 300 which was like the bottom model but still sounded fantastic and it sounds perfect for tool and I was able to use it for a purpose circle and a lot of other newer stuff but that base doesn't sound very good for old classic Rock stuff you know what I'm saying it doesn't sound smooth like an old Thunder pee bass I have a genetic Thunder pee base I would always keep one of those around and I am currently trying to find another base that I can play tool on I exempt gear stolen couple months ago along with my Beloved stratacaster which took me a while to get a good use like that of a tune in My Life Everybody kept asking me sellent I said no 1 not gonna sell it Eventually I stole this second Time in my life I've had My Fender stratocaster stolen also lost a P/j bass special. Older passive model. And a few tube amplifiers. Some rare. I'm to broke hardly working u well and strapped for cash so it's been rough. My gear was all the light in my dark life I'd be so happy if they had left one of any those instruments I play guitar, bass, and keyboard. And have none since they stole all my gear. Robbed my drummers place months ago . Yeah I missed that I've been as active base the most although the Fender passive pee base was really cool too and man I just love the stratecasters I started on one but it was my brothers I never had 1 of my own I own less Paul's and stuff for years I finally went around and got myself 1 boom got stolen never had anything stolen my life and I figured I'll wait get another 1 just buy another used 1 it took me like another 2 years and kind of making some money up and found another boom and then 1 was gone I only had it for a couple of weeks so a hole's probably thought it was an American model and worth $3000 it was probably the main target of the theft it was just an older Mexican model it was in perfect shape and it was worth everything to me , alpine white with reddish tortoise shell pickguard. Maple neck. Looked ultra sharp. Man I'm cursed. And sadly it's all I had. I got no old lady no help can barely pay Bill's thanks to funky health, being in a shite area. And Brandon's beyitch ars. Pray for me some luck, any budy.

I had an uncle that played bass, when they would practice, he would let me sit on his bass guitar amp. The room is so crowded. That was the only place I could be. I chose to become a bass player. I loved the feel of the instrument. I was heartbroken when I heard about Neil’s passing.
