Geforce RTX 5080 - Before you buy (didnt go to plan)

A quick video to explain som eof the issues I had with my Geforce 5080 and the installation. Also getting the card setup and what to look out for during.

I was looking at getting a 5080, I feel almost fortunate that I couldn't get the card I wanted based on the wider reviews and your experience.

The card still performs extremely well. Drivers (and the nvidia app) still feel a bit clunky and unfinished. But functionally, it all works great and is powerful. Super quiet, super cool and super expensive haha Just a few

I think i might have the same problem as you "when i get the card" of it not fitting properly in the case, only difference is the card ive ordered is a little less wide and i think i might have a slightly bigger case but if it comes to it im just gonna ditch the side panel lol

This is a driver issue. I have 2070 S plugged into triples. The quick fix is to set each monitor refresh rate individually and make sure they are the same in the monitor settings as well as in windows settings.

I'll give this a go tonight, I also found a RTX desktop manager software which will hopefully help. I'll try tonight too. Thanks for the input!

Man, get vertical gpu mount it is like 50$ and will make everything look so much better.

Due to my case and the thickness of the card, it won't be possible. The side panel probably won't go on, and if it does - it'll be hard up against the glass blocking airflow. This card is huge!

based on my experience (upgrading from a rtx 3050) its quite good, gameplay wise, however i do experience the occasional stutters and freezes even on games that i shouldnt have issues with like FC25 and COD.

@undeadchicken1 I have read of instabilities with the new drivers on nvidias forum. It seems different for everyone, even on older cards apparently.

That's a massive jump, make sure your PC components can handle it haha. CPU, psu etc congrats.

I got this card, came up on a site here in Norway. Literally sold out in 1 minute 😂 Must say I am a bit worried now, with issues you explain. I do not have the card yet, it is sent by post service, so should get it this week 💪😎 I upgrade from a 3060 TI, so should be massive upgrades. Got a new 1500W corsair power supply, yeah I know overkill. Got same case as you tho, the power supply has the cable I need as well, so that is good. When they made this card so big, they should have though about what cases people have, and that the power cable to the card would been an issue for most people 🥲 Anyways, great videos, I liked and subscribed, hope more videos on this card soon, from you 👊

Thanks mate, yeah the size is not ideal but it's not the end of the world. The card performs great and from a 3070ti you should be very happy with it. I would still keep in mind a good quality right angle adaptor. The space is quite minimal and from the past stories, not something you want to put stress on. Not saying you have not tried but if you haven't try a driver cleaner,that might sort your monitor issue, or clean install, not saying you have not done it, just idea's!

Thanks mate! Yeah I have ran DDU clean install 3 times from safe mode. Didn't resolve the issues unfortunately

When i went i built my new rig i kept my 3080ti, old intel to amd,and windows 10 to 11. couldn't get 4 screens to work properly anymore either, i think it might have been windows 11 + drivers. Haven't had time to test 4 monitors on my 5080 yet.

What kind of display are you using? audio is not working over DP 1.4 DSC 4k240Hz for me, it was working with RTX 3070.

I'm using 1 x AOC Ag493ucx2 and 3 x AOC cq32gse. none of these run at 240hz. I do suspect driver issues across the board right now. Many strange issues are present unfortunately.

I am facing the same issue, basically will get bsod or just freeze when my oled tv is turned on or off (main monitor is on). Same refresh rate (120), both has gsync.. not sure what caused it, also came from 3080

Do you have the exact same card? Or another brand 5080? I'm still searching for a solution. I have found posts in nvidia forums with no solution, going back many previous series gpus.

My PC intermittently freezes and will black screen like it's continuously searching for a monitor. It does not BSOD, tho.

@aditiyajunus3131 of you have on board graphics on your M/b, make sure that's turned off in your bios. If you have pci gen 5, try down grading it to pci gen 4 or even 3. I have read that can fix some issues.

Hi I got this card today. However I have an issue. The card doess not boost right. Max speed it gives me is 1230MHz :( I google it and seems many has this issue with the 5000 series cards, (different brands not only palid). Was wondering if this happend to you? and if so how you fixsed it? Some says restart pc enough and it might boost correct. Does not seem like a "fix" to me :S I got high-end pc (upgraded half year ago), and like I said in other post, I got a corsair (platinum) 1500W powersupply, with cable that is ment for RTX 4000 and 5000 series. When I tried my friends RTX 4070 SUPER it boosted correctly at 2900+ MHz. I do not know what to do.. I have literally same card as you, but it clearly not working right. People on forums and stuff says it is the Nvidia driver 😭🤷‍♂ please help if you can :(

PCIE 5, yes BIG ISSUE if you have an old am4 like me withe pcie 4 its but 5 causes issues

I have heard some people having this issue. I will test my card and get back to you but fairly sure I'm not having this issue. I would check your pci gen setting as above, turn off any onboard video in bios if you have it (it helped my card) and check your motherboard supplier for a bios update. I just realised I have a motherboard bios update to complete for mine.

@@scorps0326 I will try what @nickmanhota324 said thanks. For now I 'semi fixsed it with useing silent bios mode'. These cards nuts, I overclock it (stable with 375 core clock speed) and + 500 on memory. Temp 50° crazy! (Did not know I have motherbord bios, need check that too).

No offence but you paid £1139 or $1300 us, and you cannot afford a new case nzxt h7 flow 2024, i have the same card as you and i got rid of that small 4000d mid case, cannot believe you said thats large just about fit a 4080 init.

@nickmanhota324 thanks mate, it's not that I can't afford a new case, it's just I don't really care about aesthetics that much. I bought this card for the resale of the cool rgb haha. I will probably update to a large case and vertical mount when I change to AM5. 🤝

​@scorps0326 its an issue i had foreseen while owning the 4000d and a watercooler, top mounts are to close to the motherboard so a water cooler with fans hits the ram, at the front the 4080 was hitting the radiator, its a compact mid size, nzxt h7 flow with the palit 5080 loads of room, and temps are low with oc at 5000mhz ram and core at 3200 mhz its no higher than 55c. Worth the upgrade.

dude, i had a big 4090 in 4000D and no problem, but i bought a new PSU with that cable for gpu. i changed it later for 011d evo rgb but that was because i got a myself 360 aio, otherwise i loved my 4000d.

@medovk 4000D is a great case! The airflow and cooling is top notch. The only reason I would change is vertical mounting the gpu.
