Correction: 10:55 - NVIDIA has let us know that the RTX 5080 does have a double flow through cooler, similar to the RTX 5090, but the Liquid Metal TIM is replaced with phase change TIM, and the 3D Vapor Chamber is replaced with five heat pipes.

the 5080 is incredible! Going to be able to play games for years with AMAZING DLSS 4 and multi frame gen. My 7900xtx is now obsolete. FSR is so bad on performance mode, and looks horrible even on quality. Not going to wait for FSR 4. Sick of waiting. These prices and cards will draw many back to Nvidia. Including me. I want DLSS 4, and path tracing right this second. No waiting for amd.

It’s those 4K textures that does it. If you want all the games textures to be in 4K then you need massive vram to load them in and out. Doesn’t mean those textures will actually look good in game though. That’s just art design and direction. That normally is rushed to meet deadlines

Small bit of feedback regarding the charts. Would it be possible to have the entire row highlighted instead? The little dots are good, but i find it a bit difficult to scan back to the left to see what is being highlighted reliably and fast enough without pausing. If the entire row got a background colour or a border, it would make it lots easier to parse the data I think.

@clinttube
@clinttube 7 күн бұрын
Solution: put the item being highlighted at the end (over the black background). I agree - it's always annoying to have to scan back and forth constantly and it's not arranged in a useful way for something visible for 5 seconds max. If they were to arrange by release date or generation/position their format would make sense, but things are moving up and down too. That's fine if they put the name on the right at the end of the graph (w/ plenty of space since the whole chart shifts leftwards and places the pertinent info closer to the middle of the screen)

LMG is only sustained by Linus as a personality. Therefore, the only way he gets off the treadmill is by getting people comfortable with other presenters. It also means he can be in more videos. The Treadmill is hard when the business is basically you. Consulting has the same issue. You have to get customers comfortable with your team if you ever want to step back and have some time again. This is a strategy to dilute Linus into more videos and gently wean people off him, I think.

His impetuousness will be his downfall, just as with Jensen. He's betting the farm on Jensen's promises, which I would take with a grain of salt. @@JezreMthe difference is the ai is generating extra frames in such a way to where it in many cases can look just bad compared to normal rendering methods. While dlss 4.0 may have improved some of the blurring and smearing issues it didn’t fully get rid of them and some issues still remain. Dlss also does add latency to games and in any competitive shooter or game this is not good or acceptable.

@ ai uses the game and will take pre existing frames to guess what another would look like in order to add more. This almost always results in blurring, jitter in scenes with movement, input lag, and lost detail. These are objectively bad things and having a graphics card that only gains an improvement when using these methods when advertised as more powerful than the last generation is stupid

It's closer to the old gens that the video referenced where Intel dominated the market (especially in enterprise) so they just put out new gens with marginal uplift. Then Ryzen (really Zen 2 in particular) came out and Intel got caught with their pants down cause they had stagnated for so long being at the top. Now they've lost a tremendous amount of market share in almost every segment. Nvidia is in the same position where there is no rival pushing them (and their core business is enterprise so they don't care anyways), so they dump out the same crap with a marginal uplift and it will remain that way until Intel or AMD have a Ryzen moment in GPUs.

Even if tomorrow nivida came out and said all our cards will have 24gb vram at least even on our 300 dollar gpu. Guess what. Every game would start magically "needing" more than 24gb vram to run. One of the things causing GPUs to not improve so much is the growing demand for graphics in games, and the lack of crazy optimization we've had before. Would I really like for the 5080 to have had 20gb ? Sure but I'm sure 16gb will serve me fine for my future 1440p monitor for a good time to come. And if shittily optimized games come out in the near future needing more than that, I ignore them , I have more games to play in my steam library than I will ever have time for. If anything I'll just play them when I upgrade again in 3-4 generations. And as I always have to say because otherwise the keyboard warriors come out of the woodworks, I don't like Nvidia or them having a monopoly. But gamers will always be the most entitled crowd to try to make happy. They want 4k 500fps for 100$ and I guarantee if it was given they would still find something else to rage about within the hour. People only think of in "want want want" instead of "need". Dear Linus and team… I just wanna drop a bit of love. These interdepartmental collab videos are awesome, truly so. Sometimes, Linus isn’t the best messenger for some messages and when it comes to GPUs ( a sector once discussed on WAN show to turn more in to written format than remain on video) you really do need everyone on board fairly and genuinely represent the myriad use cases and consideration for such a piece of technology. What keeps it fresh is that the various speakers bring THEIR expertise, and THEIR passion for that thing they do, in the name of enabling more informed purchases to be made in cool things. Whilst passion comes in spades with Linus, the expertise… doesn’t, at least not always and so some of that passion can ring hollow as a result. He talks outside of school a lot sometimes and that’s not good for anyone. But bringing in the people who live and breathe what they get to work on at LMG, filling the gaps in Linus’ swole brain, really solves that problem. I’m proud of you all. You were right. GPUs do get kinda stale and in terms of “every green” or “useful rather than consumable content” it’s a lot of work for the rewards. But you’ve done good here. You’ve added more flavours of communication, passion and skill set to a video, the kind that REALLY NEEDS to be dense to be useful, and using this new recipe to step forward, firing on all and everyone’s cylinders. I really think you’re setting a new bar in product review videos with the energy and love that are put in to these efforts. World… class.. team.
