Bruno Thompson ok yes, but being a draw because the UFC promotes u more and doesn't hold u back just because of ur look is not earned. They also give Conor and Ronda title shots for getting brutally getting KOED and going 1-1 with the #4 contender in the division. Meanwhile Frankie, Holloway, Ferguson, and Khabib had crazy winning streaks in their division without even getting a titleshot.

The reason he doesn't get paid as much is because his personality isn't that interesting and sometimes he doesn't perform well, it's pretty simple. The only way you can get big money if you are a fighter with an average personality is if your fighting ability is exciting virtually all the time, like Fedor, Mark Hunt, Rumble, Vitor etc. You have to make fans want to tune in for you to get big money, you can use talking to do this also and hype it up. Either by trying to make people love you, or trying to make them hate you and want to see you lose. Conor makes so much money because Conor literally is high level is being able to talk (probably the biggest talker so far) and also being able to perform in spectacular fashion in the fight also. That's why he earns so much money, it isn't rocket science. GSP was someone who earned a lot because people mostly liked him and wanted to see him win, he was the good looking guy who was the class act and gentleman. So millions of people wanted to see him win all the time. Then you have ones like Jon Jones who were very talented but also inadvertently made fans hate him by being so fake and doing stupid things outside of fighting all the time. So he earned a lot of money because many people wanted to see him lose, you would see it on the comments all the time, most people were hoping the new guy going up against him would beat him. The point is, you have to make people interested in some form to a reasonable level. Gegard doesn't fill in enough boxes and that's why he isn't making enough money. He doesn't make enough people love him or hate him. Most people just don't think about him or care that much. His fighting talent is pretty good, but it isn't shockingly epic as in you don't remember it like you remember Anderson school Forrest or KO Vitor etc.

A definite contributing reason Gegard is not making as much as he would like is his english. Honestly it isn't too terrible, and yeah, there are fighters on the roster with worse english than Gegard even, but speaking english more clearly has proven to increase a fighters marketability and when their stock as an individual goes up, obviously, their earnings as an individual will go up also.

It's about selling. I like Gegard but I don't think he's a big draw. Not sure what he makes but I'm sure he's under paid. There has to be a better balance between skills, ranking and star value to decide what a fighter makes. i think heavyweights are paid more because they're a rarer find than fighters in other weight classes due to their size mostly, and the ufc wants to allure ex athletes from other sports (particularly American football who already earn a lot and are big explosive athletes) to become mma fighters, so they need to make a competitive offer to get their interest.
