At one of the Muay Thai gyms I train at here in Thailand, last year there was a group of fighters from Dagestan who trained there. We trained at the same time of the day usually, so, I got to see them train 4-5 days a week for a few months. These guys were in beast mode. They had cardio forever, hit like Mack trucks, and were just scary tough. I'd look at them and wonder sometimes if they were human or not. (I'm half kidding).

Agree and disagree. As Eddie Alvarez said, people were making Nate out to be some monster welterweight. And he’s just not. He’s a tall thin lighweight with good boxing and a lot of losses on his record. You can’t blame mcgregor gassing out so fast in that fight on Nate being a huge guy. To compare, when Nate fought a true welterweight in Rory Macdonald, he literally got thrown on his head three times. Conor does have issues with his cardio, though he improved in the second fight with Nate and is probably still improving right now. But it will not match khabibs pace if the fight makes it into 4 and 5. I also dont agree that it’s always “intangibles” that win fights. I think that’s part of it. But Conor’s KOs in most of his fights illustrate the tangibles that he possesses, which are his ridiculous precision and timing. In terms of intangibles, I think he’s lacking, evidenced by how quickly he tapped against Nate in the first fight. I don’t know who has more of the intangibles in this fight. But I see it as a classic stylistic matchup. The guy that is able to impose his particular style on the other guy will win the fight, IMO. Khabib has been able to impose his will in every single round of every fight against every fighter is been in there with. Striker, wrestler, bjj, it doesn’t seem to matter. He’s just so dominant with his particular skill set. Conor on the other hand has struggled with several styles. Chad Mendez is a small guy, and taking the fight on short notice was still able to take conor down repeatedly, and cut him up with elbows. Khabib is a much bigger stronger guy that chad, and he won’t gas out. Conor also struggled with Nate’s boxing, and was submitted early in his career.

@billyblanco896 жыл бұрын
Another brilliant breakdown by Chael P. The adrenaline dump, the element of surprise, and the experience of the opponent hes facing that have done it many more times than Conor has are all major factors in contributing to the fatigue. Also getting cracked on the chin, this has a different affect on everyone depending on the individual, prepared or unprepared. For instance take a high level wrestler, 3 5 min rounds he could wrestle and grapple and dominate with normal fatigue, or no fatigue. Now factor in getting hit on the chin, the fatigue comes out of left field and the nervous system gets rattled. Like I said depending on the individual. With some its a red light, no go. Others its yellow, proceed with caution, but keep going, others its green they get fired up and its balls to the wall. Going green while very entertaining to the crowd is probably the least intelligent thing to do. These PPL usually don't have a long career.

Khabib could have fought conor and tony in the same night. Maybe even a gaethje in the comercial break. That's why i'm so mad at him for living. It's like a doctor who takes 10 years to reach the top of his knowledge, he becomes the best of his branch, then leaves medicine

At the early stages of his career Pertti Ukkola, a Finnish Greco-Roman wrestling olympic gold medallist, had a training session similar to Khabib's that lasted 120 minutes as a punishment from his coach for having stayed out too late the previous night during the training camp. Ukkola won the gold medal in 1976 in Montreal and reached perhaps his peak in the 1977 European Championships in Gothenburg. He won the gold medal and went to the banquet arranged for the national teams after the Championships. The minute Ukkola stepped into the dinner venue, the whole Russian team stood up and applauded him.

Conor’s endurance was very good in the Mayweather fight. He threw over 400 punches in it. Also, I’m boxing you absorb so many punches to the shoulder/arm muscle which causes further fatigue. And like chael said, the nerves and stress/adrenaline must have been crazy for him making his debut against 49-0 all time great Floyd Mayweather in one of the very biggest combat events ever.

Didn't Dominick Cruz say he doesn't see how someone with Conor's style could fight at a pace like he does at the beginning for 5 rounds?
@BernardoWLopes6 жыл бұрын
that's the big thing people overlook...there's a reason sprinters last for only two handfulls of seconds. Conor's problem is not the fact that he has a sprinter's "body", it's that he has a sprinter's style. No matter how much he builds up his cardio, he can't expect to not gas if he comes out speeding and throwing 100% of himself in almost every shot. You do have guys like Nick that that have a high volume of strikes, or guys like michael bisping, but they generally keep the 100% power shots reserved at the end of their combinations or throw them only when they see an opening.

No disrespect, but the same was said about Eddie and Chad. I have mad respect for both those guys, but it was what it was. I think Khabib' stand up is really really sloppy. This is not a disadvantage you want fighting a guy like Conor. I think Khabib' gets caught early and often. Anyone can win in mma. It just takes that one shot, but I don't see Khabib' doing well on his feet. I think an early beating is gonna put a hurting on his grappling. I got this one going to Conor.

Good job with your channel brother. Its growing rapidly and has become part of the conversation when it comes to MMA podcasts. Top 3 being Ariel, Joe Rogan and yours. Not bad! I remember subbing to the Oregan gangster when he only had 50 subs. And he was as he said, learning the ropes and asking people like Joe Rogan and other pod casters how to make his channel successful and what direction to take it. He's honest, admits when hes wrong and doesn't taking any of the trolling to heart and actually laughs at them.

Conor got tired versus Nate with little contact,he got tired pretty much swinging wild at the air.

Ha, I'm not a new fan at all, typical dumb guy: being wrong. Conor could get controlled in the beginning and drop him late, Conor could throw a triangle up, Khabib could ko him with a headkick, this is why fight fans are fans! You try to sound smart by saying the most simple and likely things that everyone is predicting. Conor doesn't have cardio issues, he misused his energy in a fight against someone about 30 lbs bigger that he wasn't expecting until two weeks out, and gassed somewhat after boxing the best boxer maybe ever for a HALF HOUR in his first bout ever. It's not the same and if you're such an old fan you should know that. You don't even believe what you wrote are the only two possible outcomes, if you do then you'll turn the fight off or stop watching if it goes past 2 rounds
@C.A.D.6 жыл бұрын
Oh and Khabib got tired against Iaquinta with a noticeable slow down after the 3rd
@C.A.D.6 жыл бұрын
Also just because it was a little bit hyperbole and I know you'll just attack that, Nate probably wasn't literally 30 lbs heavier in the cage the first fight, but he probably was about 25

A sincere request to all MMA commentators, please stop calling Conor a 45 pounder when the guy is actually a 55 pounder who would severely dehydrate himself just to fight midgets. Just like how Till should be a middleweight. And Conor started to gas out against Floyd in the 4th round when the rounds are 3 minutes long lol.
@tonytwoplates35476 жыл бұрын
True. Till is a bum. He claims to be the best in the world. Yet, if he wa so good why would he put his body through all that torture to cut weight. If you’re that good you don’t need to cut that much weight just to be bigger.
