Gehl Hay Tools

The tape in the VHS cassette looks to be a bit worn out & the audio had to be adjusted up. So, keep an eye on your volume. There isn't much to be done with the top of the frame being warped. It was tried in a few VCR's with no change.

When I was a kid dad had an 1870 baler and pulled it with a white just like in this video. That was a great set up. Made a lot of hay with that rig.

Never knew Gehl were tied in with Vicon, those triangular discs are vicon, also that small mounted mower is identical to the old icons we had at home.

we always ran gehl round balers pulled a lot easier than most. vicon made those disc mowers for gehl.

When did they get the little square baler? Never seen one with that decal style, but I have seen them with the newer grey Gehl logo.

The Gehl small square was a repainted MF. I don't think any made it out the door with the old logo on them & the new logo came out in '91. You can find the old paint job on the balers in the brochures with the new logo on the brochure header, too. I scanned the slides with some of the artists proofs, saw that & went to look for one on eBay. Yep, they did print a few. As for the tale of the demise of Gehl, I was told it's in the book, Three Generations of Success: Gehl Company. I'd like to put together a video about the history, but that's a future project. My computer time is going to be short from about a week from now until the end of the season & I won't have too much time to get big projects done. I'll be happy enough just keeping up with posting what I have copied so far. Also hope to have another computer by then, as this one could stand to have a retirement. I think 12 years is long enough.

Not sure why, but I feel weird about mentioning my channel on other channels. Probably due to the fact that I've seen people get scolded for doing similar in other comments & chats. Then again, we don't run snobby camera channels. 😂 Are you running an M4 discbine? Wonder if something pertaining to the cutterhead holds the lineage?

@@ikonseesmrno7300 My Kubota is a Kverland (with some Vicon mixed in lol). It has the same three blade cutting system- I believe there is a connection to Gehl in there somewhere 😄

I wonder where Gehl did there promotional video taping. Looks like the area around Allenton which is just about 10 minutes from west bend where the stuff was built.

It's a really good possibility that much of this was filmed locally. If you go through the comments in some of my Gehl videos, there are a few people that pointed out their neighbor's, friend's, family's farm when spotted.

Off topic. But I had a gehl alsport. Twin track,2 seat.had ski's or tires for the front. Also made a 3 wheeler.

That was what was called the Blazer when Allsport made them for Gehl. Very neat little machine & I bet they are a lot of fun. There's one at the tractor show I attend yearly & I hope to get more footage of it running. It wasn't there last year, as the motor blew early in the year at a vintage snowmobile show. here's a short video of it at the beginning of my video list.

Wasn't that baler design bought from Ford? My grampa had a blue Ford round baler. I think Ford made 2 models then sold the patten to gehl

Gehl rebadged Massey Ferguson balers. Don't recall who made the Ford balers.
