This instrument is called Jegog, made from bamboo and originated from the north side of Bali island in Jembrana regency. Often used to accompany buffalo racing events called the Makepung

Wish it was recorded with a better microphone to better capture the lower frequencies, but amazing nonetheless

It would still sound like shit. You would have to experience this in person to get the full effect
@knives_on_static4 жыл бұрын
@@sdjklsdjksdjklf you could make it sound good. You would have to mic up all instruments to individual channels of a mixer, and pan it accordingly. Not the same as in person, but close enough

[...] instruments are played in pairs which are tuned slightly apart so as to produce interference beating. The beating is ideally at a consistent speed for all pairs of notes in all registers. This contributes to the very "agitated" and "shimmering" sound of gamelan ensembles. In the religious ceremonies that contain gamelan, these interference beats are meant to give the listener a feeling of a god's presence or a stepping stone to a meditative state. From wikipedia page on Pelog, the scale used in Gamelan music (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelog)
