I never even played NGS, and the very thing that prevents me from comming back to classic PSO2 is the stupid decision to merge both clients, meaning I now have to download almost 80 GBS of wasted NGS data just to play PSO2 Classic which is less of a fraction of the size. So, I wasn't really paying attention to the vid as I was writing this, but did they really decided to make a crossover with Ruronin Kenshin of all things? Like, this is the WORST possible piece of media to want to make a crossover with. Yeah, nvm. I'm not playing PSO anymore, at least not outside private servers like Ephinea, or in ways that do not support SEGA in any way. Honestly, I'm surprised the manga wasn't just straight up permanently canceled after this, like how can you continue after the original author, the person who created this thing is associated with such nefarious activities? it completely taints the manga's image by association, because whenever I think of Ruronin Kenshin, I think "Oh, yeah, that manga that was created by a pedo". Although how do you feel about consuming older sega content from your childhood, because.... I'm gonna be honest, I'm not sure if I can ever view sega the same way after that.... I mean, sure corporations never gave a shit about morality to begin with, but I never expected them to sink THIS LOW!

i dont play it as much anymore ever since global came out, especially because global really ruined the game for me, with the whole battlepass-like crap as well as making funscratch and ac scratch items to be sg or untradable(unsellable) items. And the whole fact that you cant just play pso2 classic without having to download NGS by force. I might go back on to get the rurouni kenshin stuff, as thats an anime i grew up with and I wanna get that stuff. I do not care about the author nor whatever he has done, I think it's stupid to stop playing the game because of that rather than the crap global introduced to the game, and you should continue to play games that you enjoy for what it is. Separate the art from the artist and all that, you will never know what any developer or publisher has done in their personal life that they got away with, and just because you know that now, doesnt mean it should affect the things you enjoyed.

Nope. I realized that putting hours into a game that is basically a co-op game tied to a server is pointless; putting hours and effort into games where you can lose everything as soon as the server closes is absurd. And to top it off, game's full of noobs, almost all map is empty (of players), and the game end up being more a fashion-simulator than a game.

It is a shame that it could have been a very good single player + co-op game, instead of the cashgrab tied to a server that it is.

I feel sad for the fans of the franchise to be honest. I've never watched the series but I know it is a classic anime which is for all intents and purposes a "must see" among anime fans. But now people who enjoy that content are going to be called CP supporters just for trying to enjoy themselves. As much as you want to condemn the company for not vetting who they're working with, last year marked the release of the remake of the anime. And the franchise itself has been solidified in the hearts and minds of youth culture from the 90s and 2000s. Not to mention that the franchise itself is largely owned by JUMP magazine. While the manga's author, Nobuhiro Watsuki, holds the original rights, licensing deals for such collaborations are generally managed by the publisher or production committee rather than the individual author. Therefore, it's reasonable to conclude that SEGA's collaboration was primarily with Shueisha and the anime's production committee, rather than directly with Nobuhiro Watsuki.

Vetting people you invite to work with you is a huge challenge.... that said, this was an *obvious* NO.

Before NGS it was amazing. I quite after NGS then came back quite came back again and then quit now I'm back again. I stay for the people. As for how they destroyed my force class I still have hatred for what they've done to this beautiful game.

Even without taking into account the drama, Sega killed PSO2, a 10/10 game in favor for NGS so that they can sell us a glorified dress up simulator. Ultimately, nothing wrong with going back and playing the private PSP2 Infinity, PSO Blue Burst, or PSO Universe servers. Ultimately Phantasy Star is a great series ended by Sega in a very sad way.

xDDDDDD "dress-up simulator". Cannot be explained better.
