I love that purple on the nails! My volunteer gig involves scanning bar codes of donated books and often I am guilty of scraping stickers off with my nails. I really need to figure out a better method. I’m constantly reminding the kids not to use teeth as a tool, I need to take my own advice.

Oooh yeah that’s prime opportunity to get peeling at the tips. I’d use either a box cutter or a butter knife for a less accident prone option.

i found you months ago when i found nail wraps and saturated myself with how tos. you were the most informational. a question. i have a lot of nail strips and i change them out once a week or so. i use two or three opi natural nail basecoats. the no cure wrap and two coats no cure gel topcoat. which makes a thick nail. i did like some enough to keep one set on until the nail grew pretty far from the cuticle. it isn't lifting exactly just different heights. i want it to blend. do i just file with a fine grit and then put another coat on so that the transition is seamless and i can keep them on a bit longer? thanks
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit 8 ай бұрын
You can try that, just keep in mind that keeping any brand of nail strip on the nail longer than two weeks total isn’t recommended. The nails need exposure to air and water and so on. So it all depends on how long it’s been total for wear time. Mine look too grown out after 10-12 days, so it’s never an issue for me to stay at 14 days or under

I was waiting. I think you forgot to mention why you don't roughen up your nail beds. You said you were going to revisit talking about that. I was interested to hear.
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit Ай бұрын
My nails are naturally on the thin and dry side, and roughening the nail beds further thins them out. So I don’t do that. I have done that a couple of times for the sake of experimenting and I have to say that doesn’t seem to prolong wear time for me at all. Good brands of stickers last well on me for 10-14 days without roughening up the nail surface. I hope that’s helpful ❤️

Lucy, I love your videos! I have a question... can I use a base coat for just any regular gel nails. I have a Kiara sky base that I used to do my own gel nails. Can I use this as a base coat with the semi cured ahora nails? My semi cured keep popping off, trying to fix that. Just wondering if there is a special base coat or can I use the one I have?
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit 27 күн бұрын
No I wouldn’t. Usually gel base coats need to be cured and putting a sticker on top will likely prevent the base from curing fully, possibly causing allergies. If you want to do a base coat, I would get one meant for the stickers (most brands make something like that) or get something like CND that’s not meant to be cured. Basically base meant for nail polish and not gel. I hope that makes sense.

The hardest thing for ME is to not use my nails as tools. 😂🤣😂 Scraper especially. I try but I get in a hurry and don’t feel like going to find the tool needed. Another is wearing gloves to wash dishes. Never could get used to it. Guess I am a hands on person so will always have short nails except for special occasions

TYSM for doing EVERYTHING without filing roughing out the nail layers when the nails are not that thick, SAME HERE🙋‍♀️. HOWEVER i would like to encourage you to possibly try what has worked for me, i bought the regular Bounty Hunter Hair nail skin supplement with 3000 biotin. Tried this for 30 days along with drinking Grass Fed pure Collagen Daily. I did this specifically for my hair because it was thinin and falling out as if i was pregnant and im not, it may be preMenopause idk but it help to prwfebt from falling in 2 weeks, then i git baby hairs alot, AND REALIZED MY NAILS WERE GROWING TO FAST IN 2 WEEKS VS 1MO WOW!! AND THEY WERE STRONGER THAN EVER... i stoped after 2 months and i could tell thw difference on my skin hair and nail. So im staying on this a bit longer as i love the results and need them. I will suggest that i dis get away from junk and processes food including all sweet drinks too. No empty carbs ❤ make me feel a whole lot better as well with intermittent fasting meaning 2 good meals a day (with in a 8hr period) with maybe a one healthy snack and good amount of water w possibly one electrolyte water from DrBerg brand the best(i quickly notice my hand dryness go away as if i put on lotion, amazing product)🎉

Glad it worked for you! Biotin is only helpful if the person is deficient (I’m not), getting enough protein can certainly be helpful as well. I’ve been really liking kerasal nail treatment to help with some ridging from the topical standpoint.

Great tips. Lucy I need your advice. I got the ohora rainbow french semi cured strips. My natural nails aren't long enough to show the colors properly on the tips. I don't want the hassle of getting solid gel, and forms to create extentions. Esp since those require an e file to remove. Do you think I will be able to "cheat" length by trimming the nail wrap tip the length I want, and then adding builder gel to harden the length to prevent breakage, and will that work? I'm not going to go nuts on the length I just want enough to show the colors. Thanks.
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit Жыл бұрын
I’m not experienced enough with builder gel to tell. It might work, but the under side of the wrap will be sticky if you allow it to go past the length of your natural nail.

Hi Lucy, can you tell us which brand and color name in your opinion sells the best light pink creme (not sheer or semi-sheer, no shimmer) light pink semi-cured gel nail strips? That color and texture is what I wear exclusively, and I would love to know what you think is the best quality brand and color name that fits that description. Thank you!
@kbeautyhobbit

I’m 100% not the right person to ask, because I don’t like pink color and avoid it as much as possible. I would look at ohora and lit gels as they both do semi sheer colors well.

The best hidden tip with the squishlight is that you can flash cure your top coat on each finger so it doesn't slip or slide around before putting your whole hand in the lamp. Personally I use the squishlight for about 10-15 seconds on the strips, then apply top coat and flash cure for 10-15 seconds, and then I do the full cure according to the topcoat (usually 60 seconds) in the lamp since the top coat is crystal clear. I find this technique helps sheer strips from becoming overcured and cracking. I also prefer a no wipe topcoat with SCG strips.
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit Жыл бұрын
Do you just hold the squish light a bit away from the nail when doing flash curing? To avoid smooshing the jelly bit into the top coat?
@neonhol0gram
@neonhol0gram Жыл бұрын
@kbeautyhobbit I actually remove the squishy bit just in case and just hold it a little bit away from the nail. :) Never close enough to touch or smudge anything.

Thank you for your videos! I just tried dashing diva gloss for the first time and had a hard time trimming/filing them down without the sticker getting jagged. Any advice? I tried filing down at an angle like you suggested in your videos but since my nails are on the shorter side it’s hard to do that without hitting skin while filing, if that makes sense
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit Жыл бұрын
How are you trimming them? Clippers? Scissors? I would use manicure scissors for the most precise trim and potentially not file at all. Or maybe let your nails grow out a tad for the next time to make it easier to file a bit.

Hey Lucy...someone online said that she used a UV lamp with strips that didnt require that. She said her edges bubbled. Do you think that would happen with a UV top coat for non cured strips?
@kbeautyhobbit
@kbeautyhobbit Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t happen to me and I do it all the time. However I don’t just use it on stickers that don’t need UV without a top coat. I don’t know why that person would do that, seems a bit strange. With the top coat no issues. Check out any of my dashing diva gloss videos - I show that in those.
