Well, hey, this was so enjoyable to see. Fun experimenting and seeing others do so too. Thanks so much, really enjoyed this.

Interesting. I definitely only want to use water based printing inks for environmental reasons so it's good to see it works well. Thanks for the video

The block printing inks have nice body for clear stamping. All types of stamping from leaves to string, open weave fabric, collograph and the like could come out nicely. Maybe rolling on thin strong paper and writing through from the back onto finished print could give a good result.

Good ideas to try-thanks!

Nice! You can get a similar result with Golden Open acrylics. They are amazing and have the most beautiful pigments but they are expensive.

I love Golden Open acrylics! I’ve got some videos on those too.

thank you for this. i am still having trouble and don’t understand why, maybe you have an idea - when i use these inks (exact same ones you’re using here), they start lifting off the gel plate back onto the brayer as i roll them out. i’ve tried warming them up on a separate sheet of plexiglass, i’ve tried rolling out only minimally, but whatever i do the ink lifts off and i can’t get an even layer on the plate. once it’s lifted back onto the brayer there’s no getting it back onto the plate and i just have to use the ink elsewhere. would really appreciate your thoughts if you or anyone else sees this!

What type of gel plate are you using? Is it new?
@lr00008 ай бұрын
it’s from gelli arts and yes it is! so maybe that’s what’s doing it? i’ve made around ten or so prints with it, so it’s still quite new

@@lr0000 Sometimes the new plates need a bit of "breaking in." You may want to try switching to a different type of ink/paint to test a few times, then return to the block print inks. Make sure the amount of ink on your brayer is light, pretty thin. Also you are using a soft brayer, not a hard one? Have you printed with block inks before, or is this your first experience with them?

Is it still the same easy clean up on the gel plate when using these inks?
@ClareWinslowArtStudio Жыл бұрын
Yes, should be cleanable with dish soap and water, sponge

Are these Speedball water soluble inks? Speedball oil based?
