thanks for making this video. I own a mako 21.5 LTS blue and scratched the side decent. I had a shop quote me, 2k! I think I can do this and will be a good skill to have when owning a fiberglass boat. I sent an email to spectrum color to see if they have the right color. Ill post an update when done.

Awesome! Just take your time and make sure it is sanded flat. If not 100% flat, you may notice it after polishing. But then it is just a bit more light sanding to correct. Good luck! I’m excited to hear your results.

@@iowabuckeye so I call Mako to get the color part #, they gave it to me, I called spectrum, and it didnt match up even through they are the company mako buys it from....then spectrum said they only sell the quart size in the color I need and its not the kit, Id need to buy harder, probably over 500 with shipping. I called a shop that said he could color match for about $700....the kit, like what you got was my solution, Im not sure what I should do. It sounds like id need to mix a few different things up to create the paste, Im not feeling super confident.

Well that is a bummer. I know there are kits out there where you mix to try and match the color yourself. I know I would fail at that.... But if you or someone you know are good at mixing colors, that may be worth a shot? $2k is a hard one to swallow.

@@iowabuckeye 2k is hard to accept, I know this wont be the last time either. I found another guy who said he will charge $700ish, Ill give him a try and he color matches, hoping for the best. Bummer, I was really excited to try your method. Thanks again for posting, if the company has a persons color, its a great fix.

Looks good as new! I scratched my boat up too but very minor. Not sure if it worth going through all that process or just try to buff it out
@iowabuckeye2 ай бұрын
If minor you could try and just sand and buff it out? And if you end up not being happy with the results, you could then got back and rough it up/apply gelcoat.

Unfortunately I discovered it deep enough that I could feel a tip of my pen stuck in it. Looks like I just have to do what you did. Great video by the way
