Another tip, when curing your nails, you should move the bottle of polish away from the lamp as it can accidentally cure the polish in the bottle as well

They turned out soooo beautiful! The colour and finish looks so elegant. I've been doing my nails at home for years but with regular polish and was so fed up with having to do them every 3 days and it taking hours. So fed up I went to the salon and got an expensive gel manicure. I just noted everything they did and the brands they used. I've ordered all the equipment now I am excited to do my own gels at home that will hopefully last weeks!

@@SarahW the only think is I do not want to use the colored lacquer. I finished doing them in clear yesterday. After watching a few videos I think I remember asking if I could use regular lacquer and was told I could as long as I used the gel top coat. We will see on that. In the meantime I did learn one lesson, I need to put on THIN coats. In some places it came out bumpy.

@@SarahW Well, I already did my nails but I didn't put the nail lacquer on. I just put the gel top coat. I was afraid that I would do something wrong. lol. So maybe I will put that lacquer on next week. By that time my nails will have grown out a bit. I suppose I should really put it on over the foundation and not the top coat.

Get a buffer or nail file and buff off the shine of the polish. Soak a cotton ball or lint free wipe in acetone and wrap a piece of foil over your nail. Let soak for a few minutes and then use a wooden stick to remove the polish.

Crinkling and chipping are both signs of a thick application. All layers need to be very thin for the light to cure them thoroughly. When you wipe away the tacky layer from your top coat, make sure to use a rubbing alcohol of 90% or higher for a proper, solid finish.

When doing gel or enhancements on your nails, you are supposed to do them as a dry manicure. Soaking your nails in water makes the product not adhere to the nails.

You have to use a new one so you don't get any transfer into the skin. If you don't remove it properly with a clean pad for each nail then small amounts of chemical gets onto skin and over time leads to nail product allergy. Then you can't use ANY gel polishes or glues anymore if you need surgery later you can be allergic to those glues as well. All because you were to stingy to use a fresh wipe on each nail 🥴

Pushing back cuticles is not a wrong method, the cuticle is not living, it is basically the glue that seals your living tissue to your nail plate to prevent bacteria from entering. Removing excess cuticle is how the gel polish adheres to the nail, and keeps the nail plate in good condition. The nail plate must be clean of all cuticle residue to prevent lifting and bacteria. REMOVING the Hyponychium, the living skin past the cuticle, is entirely different and very harmful to the client.
