Grindelwald had a cause that he believed in. He wanted to save the world, Voldemort wanted to spread hate and only cared about himself. I think Grindelwald is such a beautiful complex villain and i love his character deeply

@Rj-Lamar oh believe me i know that, i just think that hes a cool villain in the harry potter fandom and definitely a lot better than voldemort. i dont like him because he's evil, i like the fact that he plays a major part in the story (obviously) and it's interesting to see how he chooses to preach his beliefs, unlike with voldemort everything is black and white

He only wanted to see his people at the top, etc. When Rosier, etc. was talking about killing all the muggles, Grindelwald was silent. And when they killed the baby, he looked uncomfortable with it, but he knew that he couldn't show a lack of focus to his people or it would influence his position negatively.

@Kakhi Rao Yeah, but they weren't powerful becuase of the wand. That thing only boosted the power of their spells? maybe. But it didn't give you skill, knowledge, experience, etc. Voldemort got the Elder Wand while it was aligned to someone else, so he couldn't use it at all, not even like a normal wand. Was probably like using a damaged, rusty sword.

Voldemort might have been the magically more powerful one, but I believe that Grindelwald was the more skilled, not just magically, but also in terms of how to lead and inspire people without the need of excessive fear and the promise of torture. Gellert Grindelwald almost won his war, one that raged all over Europe, while Voldemort can only brag about a local conflict against the British Ministry of Magic. But on the other hand, I believe that Voldemort was the more dangerous Dark Lord. If not for the prophecy and Harry, etc. Voldemort would have succeeded. His terror would have spread over the mainland continent and eventually all over the world. Voldemort was more monster than human, and immortal. Without Harry being a lucky lad and finding all the Horcruxes, etc. Voldy would have eventually devoured the world. Grindelwald was a human with a vision. Voldemort was a raving mad monster.

The difference is that Voldemort was an idol for sick fucks only, while Grindelwald had enough charisma to lure normal people, too. But at the end of the day, Grindelwald's followers weren't saints either. Remember how he didn't care about one of his captains Killing Cure that bebe?

Analysis: the elder wand is just that. The most powerful wizard's MAY seek it, but only those who could control themselves could "control the wand" I think Grindlewald was himself and Dumbledore was himself. They were "brothers" and therefore COULDN'T be enemies. They did blood magic yes. They also love each other. I think Grindelwald didn't want to escape his prison. I think Dumbledore escaped Hogwarts with a smile and a last look at a good friend. The elder wand is a wand, but what did we all make of that? I hope I see Johnny act again. Shitty movies of his will be my favorite until his joy is freed.

@@tizyman7120 it's all good! When I say shitty movies I mean something different, so I really should've used a different word but I'm not sure of the right one to use in this scenario to be honest. Elaborating a little below: More like, movies that are good and fun to watch but maybe have parts that are outside of my bubble so I don't "get it" in the way musicians get their instruments. Horror for example. I'm not a fan, but only because of my life experiences. I can only enjoy those movies with other people who like them and don't mind talking so I can analyze the film for patterns. I don't watch them alone though. I write, so metaphors and imagery are the tools I use to describe what it is I'm trying to say if there's no direct way of saying the nuances. Edit: I'm high functioning, but really really good at masking. What I watch and read influences me if I'm not consciously aware of that fact. It's like breathing to me, I just take it all in. Consciously I divide real amd fake but the impressions that were made remain.
