Something the LotR movies changed was Eowyn's character arc wasn't about overcoming sexism, but depression, her own inner demons. Part of the problem was the men around her revered her so much, it didn't occur to them that she was struggling so bad from Grima Wormtongue's mental poison. Killing Sauron's greatest warrior was just a stepping stone for her main triumph, her actual character arc culminating simultaneously in the Houses of Healing with Faramrir overcoming similar inner demons, a story beat completely left out of the movies.

I think there's a lot of people who are too eager to discredit this. This looks great. They are telling a story that not often is considered and likely isn't known by most of the complainers before the trailer dropped. I think there are a couple of things that they could be doing way better, but I felt the same way about Lord of the rings too. I think a lot of people forget that Lord of the rings and the Hobbit both changed a bunch of stuff too. As long as the people who care about Lord of the rings keep working on it. It won't be an issue. The young woman they are presenting is the main character I think is a great choice, It gives off a almost mythical tone to the story which is right at home with middle earth. The art style does look a little off however, I am willing to wait and watch the movie to see how it all comes together.

Have you considered that the person who has done the most faithful adaptations of jrr tolkien's work might have a reason to make the story follow this path over the frankly, very small amount that we're actually given about the conflict this is over. Rings of power was ass, But the people who made rings of power didn't understand the source material. The people who are making this have already proven that they understand the source material, sometimes they take larger creative liberties for ease of communicating it in film. One of the massive plot points in both Lord of the rings and Hobbit are overlooked, important characters are removed, different things are added. I'm willing to put Faith into someone who has shown faith in the material over just assuming and dissuading people from trying to be in better faith of the original content than what they have been

well, this is the only remotely interesting thing I've seen out of middle earth since the return of the king. Worth giving it a shot. Also, I know Adaptations can sometimes change the heart of what worked about a story, but the Silmarillion was less of a story and more of a blueprint, just Tolkien's notes on things that happened. I think he would change plenty if he were to write this out as a full story, so treating it as a sacred text is pretty damn silly.

I love that it is a 2d film because we need more 2D films in America, my wishes are these: .It's not with a woman who fights against a man. I like the anime style, but I wish the style was more European-inspired, like the art of the medieval era, but animated. It's important to understand that it's not THAT this trope is happening that it's annoying. Its the frequency in which this trope is happening that is annoying. There are very well beloved badass heroines in movie history. Ripley of Aliens, Sarah Connor of T2; these are badass women that most men totally rocked with. The reason why is they were an anomaly. They stood out as unique and fantastic. Said differently - if every chick is an anomaly badass nowadays - than none are a badass anomaly. The same thing happened in the 80s with muscle men action star VanDamme wannabes. If all are that way, then none are. Today every character has to be cast as gay, trans or girl-boss. It's not that these exist that are annoying. Most people loved "Hollywood" character from Mannequin or the uncle in Mrs. Doubtfire. Because they were anomalies that were not ubiquitous and so gave us something different. If everyone is now a gay,trans,girlboss than no one is gay, trans,girlboss. SO no - to your point, female protag is not automatically woke. But I don't think you can be honest and say that this hasn't been the result of a lot of pandering and virtue-signaling to make this trope so omnipresent in our entertainment in the past 10 years

Listen they changed the story from the original, a lot. I'm worried about this clip too. It looks fantastic but they changed the story of the original. The film is based on a story by J.R.R. Tolkien included in the appendices of “The Lord of the Rings.” But they changed it a lot.

can't they make anything new? why keep remaking old stuff over over and over again? when there's ton's of other fantasy book or comic book series that' hasn't been made into movie or animation yet? lotr are not the only popular fantasy story that exist for the past 20 years?? there are ton's of other popular fantasy book or comic book that could be animated???

Dont like this new computer cel generated animation technique. It makes everything look cheap & unfinished. If they were shooting for an anime style. At least base it off of a good material like Record Of Lodoss War. Which is about as close to Middle Earth as I have seen in an Anime. Although it is quite old now but this just look terrible. Typical Warner Brothers always going for the cheap way out!!
