We’ve been to Switzerland twice in the last few years. Can’t wait to get back soon and your videos are my greatest encouragement to do so. Please keep up the good work and keep them coming! Thanks also for your website details.

What a beautiful hike and family adventure. Thank you for the video. On a more philosophical note: can you imagine a Gelmerbahn in the US? You'd have security windows 6 feet high surrounding the complete tethered vehicle, mandatory seatbelts to strap yourself in, heavy fines for opening the belts during the ascent or descent, a 45 minute safety and compliance "introduction" before setting foot on the premises as well as a mandatory signature on a form waiving all your rights before ever setting foot in the contraption. Plus, there would be signs that tell you you're not allowed to carry weapons, signs you're not allowed to enter without wearing a shirt, plus signs that you must wear appropriate footwear. At the Gelmerbahn there is - nothing. Swiss society just says: your responsible. Act like it. And "magically", everyone does. This funicular nicely exemplifies how culturally far apart the two countries have grown regarding personal freedoms and personal responsibilities. I find it interesting that hardly any expat or immigrant ever mentions, let alone expands, on these massive and very tangible social and cultural differences, or what effects they are having on their respective societies. But I understand that you are just describing a beautiful day out with the family, and that's perfect. It was just a thought for perhaps another video some other time.

Hi! You have to always book a Return / Talwarts on a particular hour ticket in advance right?
@SwissFamilyFun4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's best to book tickets online beforehand because they often sell out. When you book tix, you select a specific time to go up and a specific time to go down. I recommend at least 3hrs at the top. If you miss your down time, you are usually out of luck and will have to walk down. But they might have a couple open spots if you ask.

Short sign posts don't get bent by snow loads. Here I thought you would grill some nice sausages but instead sugar. I'm looking for hikes that can be done on crutches (one leg) I guess this is not one of them..:)
