you probably won’t find a salon that does this because they don’t want to risk clients getting foot fungus on their toenails (which causes them to break off) and blaming them, even gel polish isn’t good for the toes makes ur nails brittle

i feel like it depend on the person because BABBYYY my toe nails are THICKKK and strong asf lol gel polish last very long on the toes and acrylic last super long and both my nails and toe nails grow super fast so after a week i have to get them done again which is annoying but this gel x seems like something super easy i can do on myself ( i do my own nails ) but i spend wayyy too much on my toes

I read an article recently about how a lady lost a toe because she had a gel pedicure and wore closed toed shoes. The nails aren't able to flex properly in your shoes. Only do gel pedicures if you're going to be wearing open toed shoes exclusively. Be careful!

They may not do it at salons cause that’s a sure way to mess up your nail bed if you hit your toe. Even podiatrists recommend keeping your nails short to avoid injuries….

As nail tech I’m gonna say don’t do it , you can injure your toe nails or get infection ( mostly fungus ) . Once you damaged your nails at matrix zone - you are 100% succeed in damage for rest off your life

What is the matrix zone? I did gel on my toenails and didnt take care of them for a long time after, then wore closed shoes for the whole day and next day i woke up with painful 3 toes. I removed the gel and to my surprise the nails were black! 😢

@@sandragirkute6699 if they are black they are damaged and it’s bruise what you have now , no gel colors allow to do on them only regular polish . There big chance that you will lose toe nails if the bruise is more then half of nail bed . For now you have to wait till damaged part will eventually grew out , keep them short all this time . Usually it take between 3- 9 month to recover for toe nails

Lmaooo!!! 😂😂 I feel you. I bought some press on toenails from either off of Temu or Shein (I’m almost sure they came from Shein). It’s a pack of 240 white nail pieces for $1 and some change. I don’t remember any other colors beside white for that many pieces. But, I have had success with those and with the Mega Hold liquid glue by Kiss, they can hold for at least 2-3 weeks and sometimes up to two months. And they have that dot sized ass toenail just for the pinky toe lol

My nail salon will apply acrylic to toenails if needed. 1 of my big toenails is 'deformed' ever since dropping an electric organ on it as a child. Also if you have a broken toenail they can add acrylic to even the length or shape out to look like your other nails. They probably would do acrylics on all 10 - or however many toenails you have - just like they do for fingernails. 😊

I tried these! I like them because of the shape and they last long! With normal press ons they pop off almost immediately so these are a step up. A lot of people that are in the comments talk about being nail techs and how bad it is for your nails but when I was in nail school, we literally learned acrylic overlays on toes. Every nail tech has a different opinion and it gets draining reading all of them. I get they’re just trying to warn people but in school I learned that it was ok so I guess I’m just gonna have to fuck around and find out🤷🏽‍♀️

I wish you well, and please update us. I'm also fresh out of nail school (actually beauty school, because we study for two years and cover everything from head to toe and full body massages to boot) and could give you a killer foot massage but I'm not putting any acrylic or full cover tips on toe nails. After nail prepping, foot filing and the massage, I apply the cuticle oil then a lacquer nail polish and there you go. Anything more, I respectfully refer you to the next salon. Sometimes we know what's best for the client in the long run and it's our duty as beauticians to do what's best for them. Most people only think of the pretty aspect, not the damage that could be done in the long run. And these people on here who are all giving their opinions? Don't begrudge them for wanting others to avoid the same mistakes they did. It's only human

I believe that salons don’t really do this because when you wear closed toed shoes the nail cannot bend and move the way they can without anything on them. I at least come to this conclusion because it is similar to why it’s not recommended to wear closed toed shoes when you have regular gel polish on your toenails due to your nails not being able to move as they normally do. And probably because of cost with little demand, but idk just a guess

Girl, I’ve always used Kiss French Tip fake toenails for summer! They have a 96 count pack that makes it a lot easier to find ones closest to your size. I just file to fit & glue those puppies down. Maybe I need to look into these though 👀

Using nail tips gives you the chance to reshape your cuticle, if you use thebbest fitting one wothout cutting it for your big toe, it will straighten out the cuticle shaping the big toe! Its a process and takes some time, about a year to let the nail completely grow out and have a chance to reshape completely. If you notice some ingrowns take a break get them out and continue keeping the area moist. The moisture allows the skin to correct the way its growing. Its been a process but i have model big toes 😂 i need to figure it out for my smaller toes still. (I wear lumberjack shoes and they fcked me UP)

Your toenails r not meant for gel of any kind. Your toenails are meant to flex. All the drilling and nail damage is getting out of hand. I've been taking alot of clients off gel polish. They have no nails you can't even file them any more. I'm hearing of permanent damage, lost nails, and one woman lost her toe. I'm not willing to take a malpractice suit for your vanity. I'm not only in this business to make u pretty but I'm there to stay educated and to educate you. I know what I'm seeing. Once you completely destroy your toenails then you want acrylic or hard gel on them so you can keep wearing gel polish. Time to get back to regular polish until the industry can figure out a new type of gel that flexes for toes that u do not drill off.

Toenail extensions/enhancements have been a practice of Caribbean woman in the north east of America (NYC -Bronx and Brooklyn) for decades. I remember seeing my first big toenail extension on a woman when I was like maybe 15 years old and that’s about 15 years ago and I actually got a toenail extension for my high school prom that is now accessible for folks to do at home.

I used to do this all the time, it's a great way to get a nice shape in and a professional looking pedicure. But be warned that the uv light will age your feet! The skin on your feet isn't used to that much direct UV light, and before you know it you've aged your feet a ton 😢❤

I actually used acrylics (just powder, no tips) and it stopped my ingrowns. I did a lot of horseback riding and got stepped on enough for it to affect my nail plate. Using the acrylics to "splint/hard cast" my toenails, so they couldn't just do what they wanted, they had to grow and form to their hard cast.

Maybe it's just bc I live in Mississippi and we wear flip flops year round or maybe it's just a southern thing idk, but it's a pretty common here to see people with it done, especially on the big toe. I never saw the need for it personally, but I'm lucky enough to have nice looking toenails. I can def understand why some people would. They do look very nice.
