It's both hauntingly beautiful but full of melancholia... the desperate and depressed feeling you get when you've lost someone in your life... The video made me like this song even more...

my interpretation of the video is that the old woman is alone and in denial of her self awareness she wants to be young and beautiful like a show girl so she basically finds a show girl to come hang out with her and she imitates the girl as if it were herself and they live vicariously through each other and it seems like the woman realizes what she truly is she's no longer "polly" and I feel like the girl falling on the ground and also her running out into the cold kind of shows that she feels like she's dying or losing herself

@@notknown7705 There's no right or wrong. Everyone has their own interpretation. To me, this is about 2 lonely woman hoping for a different lives but real life is cruel. You cannot get back your youth, you can only dream. As for the younger lady, she lived in a world leading to where the older lady was heading but unlike the older lady, she wanted change before it's too late but nothing changes and she choose to not go through what the older woman did.
