If you spread a little bit of power across the entire throttle stick range, you get a LOT of throttle resolution. If the quad is super powerful then every tiny movement of the throttle stick makes a huge power output change. Very little resolution...
@pkvillager5 жыл бұрын
I settled on the 51466 as my main prop earlier this year. It such a great all around prop and very efficient. I agree that the only drawback seems to be really low throttle control. They are especially good in the winter, they don't seem to become anywhere near as brittle as DAL, Azure, Nazgul and S3&4's that I also run regularly. I'll give these a try, seems they might be the answer to the S3 which I like a lot but is surprisingly inefficient. S3&4 seem to be coated in crack though, I fly like a bat out of hell with them for some reason LOL
@CesiumSalami5 жыл бұрын
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Ummagawd 4Plays.
@Kabab5 жыл бұрын
Many props already exist like them. They have a very distinct performance profile. The fourth blade first off provides an absolute HEAP of grip and control. That 'locked in' feeling you get from a good quad feels like it's on steroids and the whole thing is just so much smoother. BUT, you give up an equally large heap of flight time and speed as a result. Probably the most telling comparison is really against the Johnny prop. I would go with a quad blade over the Johnny prop. You get comparable efficiency and speed and a similar smoothing effect with the added benefit of improved control, grip and throttle response. I've done a lot of generalization here but it's based on the observation that most of the previous 5" quadblade props I've tried perform very very similarly with very similar attributes.
@CesiumSalami5 жыл бұрын
KababFPV i have to say i don’t have a ton of experience with many four bladers, but have been shocked by just how little flight time you sacrifice with the 4Plays. the actual blades themselves are very narrow and not too aggressive. i thought it was a more unique 4-bladed prop - but admittedly don’t have a ton of experience with too many others.
@Plur3075 жыл бұрын
@@CesiumSalami I agree 100% with what Kabob said. I have tried a few 4 blade props and they were not bad, but the loss in top speed is very noticeable. But on the flip side tons of grip and control. I prefer 3 and 2 blade. 4 blade isn't "bad", just not the type of flying I like to do.
@tehllama425 жыл бұрын
@@CesiumSalami Then you have a pretty dialed setup you're working off of - which is a very good thing. The older style quadblades are just pure efficiency boat anchors, but the 'extra grip' effect comically huge.
@CesiumSalami5 жыл бұрын
tehllama42 can’t say there’s anything special about the rig - but it is clean. and i couldn’t agree more about 4bladed props in general. which is why i’m curious about people’s experience with these specific HQ HQ Prop Ummagawd 4Play 4.8x3.6x4 4bladed props - not other ones. so they’re not even 5” props. flew a few packs on and hit ~6min with a GP7. So they can’t be boat anchors. Wasn’t insane racing. and there was some definite poking around but also plenty of speedy acro stuff.

What are your thoughts about the Rcinpower GTS V2 2207plus(2207.5) motor? I am thinking of getting these motors but I am not sure if I'll use them for freestyle or racing so wanted to know if 2750kv(actually tested 2800kv on miniquadtestbench) will be ok for freestyle with a prop like 51466 and will I loose any efficiency in normal flying as compared to the 2500kv?
@Kabab5 жыл бұрын
higher kv is only less efficient if you're actually going fast. Otherwise it could actually be a lot more efficient. Motors have a general RPM range where they're most efficient and the kv tweaks the whole system a bit. These props will be great on that motor. The 51466 will be a good bit quicker and more poppy on the throttle.
@yashasranjan84975 жыл бұрын
@@Kabab Actually I have been examining the efficiency difference between mid and high kv motors for a given amount of thrust using the Data Explorer on that site and the results are very confusing. Suppose taking thrust as 600g, for some motors, high kv variant is more efficient, for some it's about the same and for like a bit more, the low kv is more efficient. Interested in trying this on my pushers w 2208s. I tried the s4 and sort of liked the pitch and response but noticed the center most part of the blade doesn't have any pitch to it. This makes sense for a standard setup. Why design a blade to push air into the motor? I love the the gemfan 51466 because it does have strong pitch closer to the hub and works well as a pusher. If this is 5143 has the same blade profile as the 51466, I'm in! Btw, sure you mentioned this in the past...I noticed the 2306 has so much hump of power down low, only a heavier blade flys well.

Heck I just now flew some s5 props and actually like them way more than the s3 haven’t tried s4 yet. But on my arc one with the kinetic aerial side bars on it it adds a lot of weight and I was loosing 30-45 sec a flight on the R42 race prop and the azure 5148’s but I tried the s5 and r38 and gained my flight time back but slowed down a bit. But the gemfan 51466 was feeling the best on the set up but lower durability, with the side plates on the arc but with out the plate the r42 and azure 5148 are the best I’ve found on my setup. Gemfan no thank you. Had a few pack a couple of years ago and well they just kept exploding in the sky. Put the in the packs in the bin and never used the company since.

I've never had a single one explode. I've hards many saying the Johnny prop explodes too. 🤷🏻♂️

I remember those days of Gemfans exploding. Their props were such garbage back then but their quality is 100 times better today.

You are just missing out on good props. Every company has issues once in a while.

you completely ruined all credibility from a viewers standpoint the moment you said you loved all of them equally... thats worse than being biased lmao
