A pioneering test mission rarely discussed. It was hoped to get manned GT3 in orbit by late 1964 but it didn't happened until 1965. This is a rare video report! Thanks for sharing.

Great vid, I appreciate the simulated second stage burn with the audio. Gemini was an important program. Gemini demonstrated American space technology finally catching up with, and surpassing Russian space tech.

I remember watching the manned Gemini launches and splashdowns with my mom in the mid 60s with Walter Cronkite on CBS.

Awesome! Love having the graphs available to read ... this really adds greater depth to watching and listening to the launch. Thanks for including this data. Nice.

That two stage firing is totally new to me…. The 1st stage engine shut down when out of Oxidizer. The Launch Vehicle Oscillation was cured by what amounted to standpipes in the fuel system above the turbopumps

@4:03 seven and a half G, eyeballs in, at SECO!? Sounds pretty hairy!

You have to remember that this booster was built to launch a nuke, not a man. It's gonna have some serious G loading. As long as it's a linear loading and not lateral.

@@andrewbartczak5941 Yes, of course. No thrust reduction to limit acceleration as we might expect today. It's first time I've seen the numbers plotted out, though. What's interesting is the way the curve stays pretty flat from +150 through to around +270, then it goes shooting up. Not far off from tripling the G load in around 60 and a bit seconds. The first stage looks like it would be only slightly less hairy, too!

Sure looks like fun though. I experienced 4.5G once. I'd love to see 7.5

I always marvel at how good comms is now. Back then, the pilots were almost unintelligible to the lay ear and the ground loop, as can be heard here, was not a whole lot better.
