I was leaning a different way and then here comes your review and tutorial. Great review! I didn't get to watch a full presentation on HSN, so I don't know if she explained how to take care of the plates. But on the CC YT channel, she demonstrates how to rotate and flip the plates so that they'll last a lot longer and won't warp as much. I love mine as much as you do.....it was my most expensive splurge this year, but SO worth it! TFS, Heather
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know about the turning and such. I've done it. Plates still warp. I use mine A LOT. All my machines. For example the day of this demo I cut dies for literally about 4 hours straight. I love dies!

Definitely interested to see what all yours does and if it can handle you! Lol Hugs Renee

+Wanna Scrap? The Big Shot Plus cuts up to 8.5 X11 inches which is why I bought it. It seems to be keeping up so far, but I bought backup plates for it as soon as I played with it the first time because I knew I'd need them lol Check Amazon. I don't know how much you want to spend, but right now the Plus is $154 the Big Shot (which is the same as the Big Kick) is $89.

Great video. Thank you!!! Sarah said that you can put a towel under the machine to make it a little quieter if it is too loud for you. Question for you- When you emboss, aren't you supposed to put the frosty plate on top of purple plate? I'm sure you know since you have yours. I'm so excited and can't wait. I'm glad you mentioned to everyone about the thick dies. Sarah mentioned that too on HSN. It will do the thick Anna Griffin folders though. Love the video!!!!

Great review! Glad you're enjoying your new toy after the disappointment from the Cut N Boss. I have the original Ebosser by Craftwell, and I love it. I have nerve damage and needed to use an electronic cutter, so it was perfect, especially since I do wedding, birthday and Quinceanera invites for family and friends (hundreds done with my craftwell). But, when I saw you purchase one at the great clearance price (I paid $170 for the original) I ran and purchased one two for a backup. Here's the odd thing... which I think made the difference in cutting between the original Ebosser vs. the Cut N Boss... the Ebosser came with a 'C' plate and a rubber plate whereas the new one from Joanns didn't and the new one included the metal shim. Plus, the opening on the Ebosser is wider as the 'C' plate is almost as thick as the 'D' plate. Which means the sandwich combos between the machines are completely different. 😕 I wonder why they switched it up when it was working perfectly - try could've added pretty gold stripes without changing the machine, LOL. I saw your CutNBoss review and said to myself 'she's missing plates!' but then I opened the new box and saw they were different. Joanns won't accept returns on it, but at least I have a backup if my Ebosser dies (it has jammed on me once and I almost cried). Someone mentioned going to the Craftwell website and reviewing their 'sandwich guide' for the Cut N Boss because they made updates to it. Before you destash it, might be worth a try! Thanks again for your great video, I love listening to your bubbly enthusiasm and of course seeing your beautiful projects. That fairy die is gorgeous! Twins Rock! ~ Evie 😊
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad it helped They crack me up making "better" (which usually means cheaper for them) versions of products and then the product stinks. I've had nothing but annoyances with the Cut n Boss- I'm destashing it as soon as I can. Tfw :)

Nice! Love that skeleton die and that fairy and the really intricate butterfly are beautiful!!! The Twins Rock!!!!!! Also love the size of those large embossing folders! I can see you are having lots of fun with your new die cutting machine, love how you don't have to crank it. :) As you can see is love ❤️ ❤️ it all except that it won't cut the Bigz dies.
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Yes. Love it. I've already cut out tons!!!!- in less than 24 hours! Its doesn't cut the thick dies, but they don't typically need the extra pressure to cut. Since I have crank machines that will, I don't feel a lack. Woot! Tfw
@cathygregory83127 жыл бұрын
QUESTION? Can you emboss with your die cuts. That's to say no cutting, just embossing as I have with my Cuttlebug, to give paper raised impression If so, what sandwich would I use? Thanks for your time and help. Thought I saw it on one of your video's but can't find it.
@poetspice7 жыл бұрын
Cathy Gregory you can emboss your die but you have to play with your own machine to see exactly how it'll work. The easiest way I've found to emboss without cutting is to actually cut 2 at once. Usually the second layer of an intricate die doesn't cut all the way through.
@SybilB8 жыл бұрын
Hey Jami, I do have a quick question, if you wanted to emboss the diecuts, do you leave everything in place and then add an embossing plate or just what? I love the ease of how it goes through the machine, I would love to see how it cuts felt....thinking of Christmas dies. Oh yes, the Twins Rock. ;)
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Tfw. To emboss you take the magnetic shim out then put the embossing pad on top of the die. It's uber easy. I will try to hunt through the stash for felt and fabric. I want to try fabric.

Hi dear, I am planning to get myself a Gemini machine, but little sceptical... its quite an expensive machine. I want to know can it be repaired if it breaks down? Do u think its durable to last for 3-4 years? I am also a heavy usedlike you. Someone told me that it gets over heated fast, have you faced this issue? Any ideas after how many cuts does it get warm? Apart from this is there any other machine you can suggest? Someone told me about Cutn Boss? Kindly help Thank you

i have another question my friends machine is hard to push the plates through and if you look inside the white roller on the right hand side looks off kilter could you peek inside yours? she has to hold it and kind of push it a lot to feed it yours seems to just glide in thank you so much
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
HI, I will try and do another video for you and look inside. Some tips: 1) make sure the plate combo is correct 2) try running the plates through WITHOUT a die and see if that works
@DonnaJo34527 жыл бұрын
raggedyanna6 Also do not feed your plates in with the die right there at the tea edge of the sandwich, put about an inch or two between the edge of the sandwich and the diet , that way the sandwich going in will only be two plates thick and when the rollers get to the die they just will expand a little bit and go over the die. Hope this helps!

You forgot to mention how QUIET this machine is ! I just got mine, I also have a cut-n-boss machine, which I loved but did not like the button being below the plate window....it got jammed & to unjam you have to hold button down ( which is very hard to do when button is below opening ) it rarely jams, but is a hassle if it does. So I bought Gemini, it is so quiet I can hear my TV, music, when running machine...could not do that with my other machine !!! Now Gemini is my favorite.

Thank you for the review, I would love to see more videos on various materials and other AG dies and embossing folders. I saw the Mix & Match (thick white embossing folders) demoed, but am curious about the Spellbinder thick folders too. Do you think if you used the metal shim, it would solve the problem with the dies that you've been having a hard time with or just that the dies aren't made right. What company is the skeleton die from? Your video had areas where it was hard to hear you. I'm okay with not being able to do the steel rule dies because I do have a Vagabond too, but I like the option of the wider platform, which I was considering the Big Shot Plus, but the Gemini seems to take care of that. Oh.and the Twins Rock!
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped. I plan on doing some other material demos soon. I have a few other embossing folders. I don't have the Anna G thick ones, but I do have the thick Spellbinders though. I think the metal shim will work with some of the other dies, the New Edition dies are just not that great. I will try the shim though.

Hi, a comment or two! I’ve been enjoying your videos. One of the problems with your dies not cutting is not the dies but you cutting too many dies at a time! If you review Sara Davies’ video(s), one in particular explains the concept of the pressure being exerted between the metal rollers. If you place, say, a 1” x 5” die with the 5” side parallel to the rollers, the pressure has to be distributed in more cutting edges than if you place the die perpendicular to the rollers, then all the pressure is directed on a lot less cutting edges. Also she suggested running a die/die cut through using the embossing mat. Sara said sometimes that will cut the remaining spots. And it’s been suggested by others that if you change the position of the die/die cut slightly, the rollers will apply pressure differently and that helps cut the remaining places also. I am not an expert at die cutting, but I watch a lot of videos not just a lot but tons of videos and I have learned so much from others. I’m sure you have learned from others too! I hope some of these suggestion help :-). I am watching through all of your videos!

P. S. I am impressed that Sara Davies, the owner of Crafter’s Companion, reviewed your video!

Yep, I know. It's funny how sometimes no matter how much you put on the plate it will cut fine. However, that is usually with less detailed dies.

how do you get your plates not to bow rotated turned and still bowing
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
The plates are going to bow no matter what. However, you have to rotate as well as turn them over. Also I found that once it's bowed, do some embossing folders. It helps flatten the plate after a few run throughs.

Haven't had time but enjoyed watching you! I will. HSN has something on the 30th. If it's on and cheaper so much for that. Lol
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Oh no. That's not fun! Yes, I will probably watch but I didn't see anything I uber wanted in the sneak peek. I doubt it will be cheaper, demand is too high.

Great review but i wish they will make one that u can use with the thicker dies as u said that was the down part 4 me, the reason why i didn't get it! Hey the twins rock!!! Tfs xx, Kat
@poetspice8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Hope it helped. I got this anyway because I already have a Cuttlebug and a Big Shot Plus, so I don't really need this machine to cut thick dies. Also most thick dies I've seen aren't nearly as intricate as thin dies so they don't need the extra pressure. Tfw! I love this machine!
@Craftlifethrumyeyes078 жыл бұрын
+poetspice I got u girl, just wish 4 one that will do it all & do it well ' cause i don't want to end it up with so many different machines so far i have 3 but after ur review & saw that cuts like butter i may have to get it specially if cuts all the different materials that they show during the sell.

+KME2927 the Cut N Boss does it all but I didn't like it. It was a pain to work with. I'm selling mine. I want to look in my stash for other materials to cut and see if it works.

Hello there, okay question how do u sharpen your die's? Please share Rj
@poetspice7 жыл бұрын
ThriftyCrafterMale you run them through the machine cutting aluminum foil. I would do it with a crank machine vs the Gemini though. Did you buy the Junior? Mine is supposed to arrive today! I got the purple one! I heard you on the HSN show! How to you actually call in to talk to theming the show vs ordering? I'd love to call in and say hi to Sarah! Woot!!
