One thing I never understood about Spirit, Gemini and Toon monsters, is that they all have a specific tag on the card, but still explain their effects in the effect description. I feel like you could easily put those distinctions in the game's rulebook, and explain what those tags mean, while being able to create more types of them, just like how they explain Synchro, Xyz, Link and Fusion monsters. For example, they could make a normal spirit monster with this ruling, making them returning to their hand a game mechanic, instead of an activated effect. This would also let them retroactively change the way these cards work, like letting gemini monsters be normal monsters everywhere as a game mechanic, and having tenyi cards work for them, as it is a game mechanic that they are normal, and not an effect to treat them as such

Lots of earlier yugioh cards actually had that kind of thing in their effect description until erratas erased most of the bloat. I think (and i could be wrong but) early fusion monsters used to explain that they can only be summoned by polymerization until erratas just simplify it to just [material 1]+[material 2] But yeah, introducing specific vocabularies is actually a very straightforward idea, which makes me wonder why they havent implemented it yet considering they acknowledged how bloated the card effects became. Maybe because of how many of these mechanics/rulings/effects only apply to very specific archetypes?

Fun fact, Il Blud was a TCG original monster, which is probably why it was one of the only good ones. Also, the spellcaster level 6 version of Il Blud/Gigaplant that revived Yubel from the graveyard was fun. issue is that you'd just normal the same monster you SS'd. if it was "and if you do, normal summon 1 Gemini monster on the field except the monster special summoned by this effect." it would be better. While this card is face-up on the field, and you control a Gemini monster that has gained its effect(s), apply the following effect: •All face up main deck effect monster(s) on the field, except Gemini monsters, are treated as Normal Monster(s) and lose their effect(s). I actually came up with a Custom Archetype a while back that I keep meaning to do a little more work on where the Monsters all have the Effect that they count as Normal Monsters while face-up on the Field, instead having Effects that went off in the Hand and/or Graveyard, but they were NOT Gemini Monsters! I called them "Wisp"! They could easily work with Justi Break and Champion since a couple were Lv 8, you could also use Thunder End Dragon with them as well! There would be a Lv 4 that you could Summon out and have 2000 ATK; A Lv 3 Tuner that could be Special Summoned if you control a Normal Monster(s); One Lv 8 who could be Tribute Summoned using 1 Normal Monster; And a partner who could be Special Summoned if you control a Lv 8 Normal Monster; Along with other cards who would do stuff for face-up Normal Monsters and/or Monsters Summoned using Normal Monster! Like I say, I need to go back to that at some point, give it some more Monsters, some Archetype Spells/Traps, although if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them! Also, it's "Xyz Material", not "XYZ Material"! It is not even similar!

Soo, I’ve been playing recently, nearly complete with Gemini Summoning 100 Monsters. With the ban of Terraforming, one thing Gemini support can use is a way to search Dimer Synthesis, be an Effect monster to specifically for Dimer Synthesis. And then that effect Monster, ideally a Chemicritter, has a Once Per Turn where it can target 1 Normal Monster that can be Gemini Summoned, and treat it as an Effect monster until the end of turn. Chemicritter need a Rank/Link 2 Chimecritter to assist in treat Gemini monsters in hand as Normal Monsters and or Special Summon them as Effect Monsters. With some kind of decent protection.

Back in the past of Duel Links one of my main decks was Red-Eyes who had some Gemini support such as Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning, I guess for them at least the addition of making them Gemini was to make sure they had support for cards supporting Normals but still give cards effects at the same time. But if I were to give a new support card for the archetype, I would like to see a Gemini only card that acts like Birthright and other cards (perform special summoning) which let's you choose to either make the special summoned card become a Non Effect, a Normal, or an Effect monster to open up whatever path you wanted to do for the deck, such as Summoning out a big beatstick to be a non effect monster which can be helpful with the Tenyi cards.

The downsides to both Cyber Dragon & GAF is in it's effect. With Cyber Dragon, you can't have monsters on your side of the field for the special summon. There's also System Down, which banishes all face up Machine monsters your opponent controls and all in their graveyard. And with GAF it has 0 DEF. Funny, Golknight is now out in the TCG, and was so recently in the set Burst of Destiny.

In Magic: the Gathering, there's a mechanic called Monstrosity, which involves paying an extra cost to buff a creature. And I can safely say that the mechanic is a LOT better than Gemini because it doesn't require waiting another turn to do so. The only issue with the mechanic is that it has no way to indicate its new buffed status and the fact that if it loses its +1/+1 counters, you mostly go back to square one. Which is why Renown and Adapt exist, both serving as more refined versions of monstrosity, the former having a more direct way to level itself up and the latter solving the issue of the +1/+1 counters being removed.

Honestly they should release cards that are similar to Gemini Summoner but they are summoned with their actual effects instead of just being summoned. As well as more cards similar to catalyst field that directly helps Gemini monsters be more impactful and useful. Or even making archetype specific Gemini monsters like Elemental Hero Neos Alius that could have very useful effects for good archetypes that could make Gemini monsters more viable while still being able to contribute to other archetypes in the process.

In theory, Gemini cards could have been good for their generation. The problem is, for some stupid reason, most of them had really subpar/average effects for eating up another summon. They should have been designed to be more extreme. For example, hell, Goggle Golem could have made its effect be a 3000 ATK when double-summoned. It would have made the card solid for its time without being OP.

A lot needs to be done to fix Geminis. (1) We need to free up card text space by removing the need to have the Gemini "effect" plastered on every card. They already have the Gemini subtype, so just let that do the heavy lifting in the rulebook like it does for Tuner. You now have the same amount of space on the card as you would for normal Effect monsters. (2) Make them count as Normal Monsters (and Gemini Monsters) in all locations except when Gemini Summoned. This affords them all Normal Monster support which they sorely need. (3) Make GOOD GEMINI MONSTERS. I cannot stress this enough, there are next to no good Gemini monsters on the field. (4) Make good Gemini support cards. The focus on just getting the effects of Geminis just makes them effect monsters with extra steps. Instead, their support should offer different benefits based on whether they are Normal or Effect monsters, making the true "trick" to Gemini being its versatility by manipulating whether they are Effect monsters or not.

If you cant stop the gemini monster, it gets an absurdly powerful effect that makes it very hard to get rid of, like how A-to-Z Dragon Buster Cannon Tank Lazer Destructor Blaster Whatever is a terrifying boss....limited by how hard it is to summon it. Alternatively, I dont get why Geminis cant have effects on the field, and then get additional effects when normal summoned. Make them effect monster that gain additional effects when re-normal summoned. Like, "once per turn, banish a card from your GY, destroy 1 card on the field, if this card has been gemini summoned, you can instead banish from your opponent's GY as cost" or "once per turn, negate the activation of a spell card, and if you do, if this card has been gemini summoned, destroy 1 card on the field."

The problem with Gemini is that Konami treats it as an archetype instead of a mechanic and all the support that they get continues to do so, which is why they need to make it so underwhelming just to prevent some obscure potential combo it does. There is a reason why Neos Alius, Gigaplant and Il Blud are the standout examples of good Gemini monsters, it's because they worked within their decks instead of being part of Gemini.dek. Old, weaker mechanics CAN see a revival in decks that are made to be good and just incidentally use the mechanic. Say, Shaddoll - people don't consider it a "Flip Monster Deck" but they have really strong Flip Effect Monsters. Imagine if you tried to rebalance the Shaddoll deck and changed all the instances in the effects where they support "Shaddoll" into supporting Flip effects as a whole - you'd end up with cards that would be made awful out of necessity since they'd be looking at the entire pool of cards instead of just what their own deck does. To "fix" Gemini requires not saying, "Oh we need to find support that makes King Pyron not awful" and more "let's forget all of that and just make a deck that uses Gemini as a gimmick."

They should honestly be treated as Normal Monsters in Hand and in Deck so that they can get so many support cards

Konami just needs to add a rule mecanic that if the card is a gemini it counts as a Effect Monster and a Normal Monster at the same time in the hand or Deck.

My first deck was actually gemini. My play style was more like a syncro deck, which I revive tune magician a lot to do syncro monster. It was actually pretty decent at first cause the meta wasn't fast. But it falled off hard after about a year.

Question can summoning a Gemini monster the first time be considered summoning a normal monster for pricing the darkness

In duel duel links are they releasing the card packs in the same oder as they did in real life or are they doing their own thing?

What if all Gemini monsters where treated as normal monsters in the hand as well? How good would that make them?

It seems like Konami has a habit of introducing interesting mechanics, but not giving them useful enough effects to justify their cost. I wonder what yugioh would be like if unions and geminis were given good effects and caught on as a mechanic...

My brain: Vola-Chemicritter Methydraco? Oh, I get it, like volatile chemical, and the methyl group, which is related to a lot of combustible materials and readily reacts with oxygen. Oh, and it's a fire attribute too! Also my brain: did Konami not see the problem with putting the words "chem" and "meth" in a card for a game that targets children?

They are pretty good in duel links. Was dueling some guy and if it wasn't for the fact I was using red eyes he would have won from how much of my field he was popping

The tenyi archtype does help gemini cards, i have tested it,

The fact that geminis are not normal in the hand or deck makes them completely unplayable. If you need to either normal summon or dump them in in gy to utilise that, it just means you are absolutely always gonna see them where u dont need them

I guess spirit monsters are the only main deck monsters mechanics that good

This reminds me of a deck I tried to build with zombie world and il blud. That was at the height of the synchro age and I tried cheesing out majestic stardust dragon. I think it worked literally once, worst deck of all time. It was fun though.

Geminis would be so strong if their field spell makes it so opponents have to normal summon again all of their monsters to make them have their effects while you wouldnt have to lol.

Chenicritters are actually pretty good, though mostly just due to the field spell. If not for catalyst field, they'd be complete trash. Though while it's fun to play, I wouldn't take it into competitive.

Konami: New Gemini Monsters! No? Damn... Konami: New Support for Gemini! No? Damn... Konami: New Gemini Field Spell and Archetype! No? Damn... Damn, Konami REALLY seem to want Gemini monsters to be good, but are afraid of making them broken to ever make them good enough to hold up
@ffjj39642 жыл бұрын
Here an Idea to fix the mechanic. Instead: “This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the GY. While this card is a Normal Monster on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.” Why not: “This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the GY. If this card was Normal Summoned to the field it become an Effect Monster with this effect.” It similar with what they did with Ritual Monster.

Most Geminis wouldn't be good even if they didn't require two summons. That's how tame their effects are. 🎻♊

Would adding rule that once per turn you have a single free "Gemini summon" (turn genemi into effect)? Similarly how once per turn we have pendulum summon once per turn

I wish Geminis were better (and that some of the newer Geminis weren't made in a way where they don't work with Supervise)

if gemini monsters functioned the same way as dragon spirit of white or simorgh, they would be way better. they still wouldnt be very good, but theyd be better
