Nice video again! I been away a while and catching back up now 😁 2 small and personal points on this type of rig. I always put a bead between the SRT spring and crimp because I have found that the spring sometimes runs over and wedges itself on the crimp. If your crimp has a slight larger OD than the springs ID then it's not an issue. Secondly, you can always make a slightly longer 3 hook clip down and keep it in reserve, so that in the rare event of when the fish are hitting hard, you can switch up and catch more 😁 Hope you and everyone else on the channel are keeping well 😊🎣👍

All very valid points and I had considered them all. The beauty with mailing your own rigs is you can tailor them to exactly what you have planned. I went for a 2 hook clipped specifically for the session I had planned. You say you have been away, anywhere nice? 👍🏻

Brilliant Mark! I took a few of your tips and made an up & over rig recently with a 6ft snood and an SRT spring for tension. It worked really well, but the total catch for that session was one cheeky Spider Crab! Loads of them about down here - same night one of the lads reeled one in estimated at 5Lbs! I've always been dubious about crimps but tried the Breakaway adjustable ones with success. I like the fact that the neoprene sleeve protects the line, and you can crimp them to be as tight or adjustable as needed. Way behind with KZbin videos. Now it is summer, there is so much needs doing, and some channels are putting up some really long videos, and I just don't have as much time to watch. Keep up the good work - stay safe & well. 👍👍

Well what can i say mark that rig works a treat, put some together with some 1/0 on (also 3/0 but didn't use today) and it was deadly. First cast and boom a nice whiting and a lovely 2lb flounder on it, happy day's. Then a few tiny little whiting. I also had a nice 5lb conga on my normal 3ft pulley 3/0. But everyone i was fishing with was what is that 2 hook rig can you make me some!!! I directed them to your vid so they could make for them selves. Brilliant rig loves it and will be a regular on my fishing trips from now on with all sorts of different size hooks on. 🎉🎉🎉

Good news and love the feedback. You can now vary the hooks as you mention but it also allows you to edge your bets by using 2 different baits and then adjust to what ever works best. A grip lead will allow you to anchor in the tide but a rolling lead will seek out undulations where fish might hold, a flat plain lead will hold but allow you to seek from distance to close with the occasional wind of the reel. Mixing your 2 rods to cover more aspects/species is a good way of avoiding the blank. Have you tried a loop rig?

@seaangling not yet but I plan on trying it out soon it's the next rig on my list of what rigs I want to learn to make so I will be looking at your vid for it soon. Tight lines mark

I have tried fixing the bottom crimp approx 3-4 inches above the weight so it creates a drop down bottom snood. It still clips up ok.

Like it mark, I've been wanting to change my 2 or 3 hook flapper rigs to get them out further so I will be getting some cascade swivels and srt springs and once made and uses I will let you know how it went. Tight lines fella

I hope this video helps but a couple of things to add. You only need the SRT spring for the top set, the other 2 can go between “loose” beads. Breakaway and Cox & Rawle do very nice cascades. I would be doing a beefed up version of this rig soon. As a general rule I use breakaway for light and the heavier C&G for the beefed up version.

Thought the video was great and one of the best I’ve seen, going to follow this and make my own. One question, I assume it would be easy to add a rotten bottom to this? Would be good to see how you would measure this up?
@seaangling
@seaangling 10 ай бұрын
A rotten bottom with its attached weak link would be clipped up and attached. The easy way to set any rig that has set length snoods is to hang it upside down before setting in place. Unless you use power gum stop knots which take longer but allow adjustment.

Great video. how does bait fit on hook though when the hook is clipped in the release clip ?
@seaangling
@seaangling 3 ай бұрын
By ensuring the hook point is always proud it also ensures the clipped in aspect works faultlessly.

Great video - thanks - just a question - why dont you put a crimp at the top of the rig between the last bead and the top swivel? Is this so that the snood can move up and down the line at that point?
@seaangling
@seaangling Жыл бұрын
It wouldn’t serve a purpose and would just be an extra piece to add

on that knot can you trim the tag end right up against the knot so a bead can sit nicely against the knot, or is it likely to slip if there is no tag end showing ?
@seaangling
@seaangling 3 ай бұрын
One thing you can do is to “blob” any mono knot. This is where you heat the tag end and press it into a blob. No chance of that slipping through a knot.

Hi Mark, just using your video to make a 3 hook clip down rig “ ting rig “ lol , don’t know if you managed to find away to stop wastage in making stop nots yet, but I don’t cut the power gum off the real until I have tide the stop not, that way you only get waste from one side , hope that helps , love the other videos too , great helpful stuff , thanks. Jon

Very helpful Jon and I appreciate your feed back. I did try that but struggled a little. I have ended up resigned to the wastage for ease although I do keep trying.

Very informative mark cheers Looking at crimps never used before but anyhow what size crimp would you suggest for 0.80 dia 109lb shock leader please Cheers John
@seaangling
@seaangling 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the crimp and most will state what they are suitable for or have a line diameter size chart. I would expect double barrel crimps of 1.0-1.2mm depending on the brand. I would steer towards the 1.0 and only ever crimp in the centre and not at the edge of the crimp. 👍🏻

I'm a new angler and new youtuber but i was wondering when you put the bottom snood on it looks to be taking the weight of the lead doesn't that mean that your snood is taking the casting strain? on second viewing no i don't think it is... i was just wondering, the rig looks good, i like clip downs and will be tieing some myself next week have you or anyone else ever tried a 3 hook clip down with shorter snoods?

There is a 3 hook clipped using adjustable snoods on the channel. 👍🏻
