We drove through San Ignacio a couple of months after you guys were here. Melchor de Mencos is where we crossed into Belize from Guatemala last June. Belize is a really interesting place.

Between Black Rock and the "teak forest" is a trail that goes up. Take it about an hour, and you will get to a fantastic cave full of ancient Mayan pottery... and bats. Entrada de Flores Cave. Ask at the stables just before the teak forest... they will guide show you the trailhead. Well worth it. Bring headlamps and good hiking boots.
