Gen 1 Raptor Front Fox Shock Rebuild

In this video I walk you through how to rebuild the front shocks on your 2010-2014 Gen 1 Ford SVT Raptor. The project isn't as scary as it seems and I hope this video gives you the confidence to tackle it on your own.

How deep did you set the IFP? Bottom out? Top out? Damper filled with oil, no air gap? Thanks for the video!

Super informative video, thanks for taking the time. I've just purchased a 2014 Raptor here in Australia, which is obviously very rare as they were never sold here and it's super expensive ($53k) to put the steering wheel on the other side. Anyway, it's done 63k miles (107k kms) and 95% highway, so it's right on time for it's first rebuild. There is nobody here that does them so I'm on my own except for blokes like you who are helping from afar even when you dont realize it. So a couple of things maybe you can link me too. I located Forged off road, but they dont have that bullet with the taper that you used to insert the top gear onto the shaft nicely without damaging the seals. Also, the pin pliers to remove the top car that you slipped that big pipe over? What are they called and where can you get them? BTW, I'm hoping that big pipe ddnt fall against the vehicle the way you left it standing up like that! And last but not least. The specs on the shock fluid. I'll have to find a local supplier for that as I wont be able to ship oil to Australia with USPS. Thanks again for your efforts.

If I were you, I would get in touch with schmidty racing, I believe I put a link to them in another comment. They can get you all set up with tools and might be able to get you the fluid too. Otherwise, see if anyone around you sells Fox shocks and they can get you the fluid. It's also on Amazon, but I'm not sure if they'd ship to you there.

Great video! What spring compressors are you using here? I've seen other videos where the compressors look about ready to snap but these seem to handle it no problem.

Specialty Products 40260 Universal Spring Compressor a.co/d/cyVSids Those are what I used and they are amazing. I never felt scared using them like I have with other ones.

Great video. By the way. Did you clean the grease that is under the bypass piston? If you did clean it. Did you put new grease?

I did not use grease anywhere on these during the rebuild. I'm about to do it again though and can let you know if that answer changes.

I also email Forged Off-road and this was their reply “Hey, So those should have some grease on them so when they go in it's not dry which can roll the oring. All that excess can be removed. Super Lube 41160 or lucas Red n tacky is good.” Thank you again.

Forged seems to have gone out of business so you'll have to find another company to get the parts from. ☹️ If I remember right it was around $100 for everything, but with inflation it's probably more now. 🤣
