I bought a vacuum pump for $90.00 and sucked out the fluid at $26,000k Didn’t spill a drop laying on my back. I drove it up on 4 ramps to get extra room. Time consuming so a rainy day is best. Easy really, it showed quite a bit of metallic particles. Once cleaned up and installed new filter it shifted far smoother. I just bought the 2024 F150, will change the fluid after the winter once I’ve used the different traction options, I’m hoping to change it around 20,000k the new vehicle needs a break in. My next change will likely be every 40,000 after that.

I found it easier to unbolt the trans mount from the crossmember, only 2 nuts then lift it up.

Maybe you can get away with the deep pan if you buy an aftermarket skid plate? The stock one scoops up close to the pan though

The Supercab does not have enough flex in the exhaust because of the shorter distance so the downpipes of the exhaust need to be disconnected at the the turbos. This will allow the exhaust to drop enough for clearance of the PPE pan.

Any reason why you couldn't loosen the 2 trans mount studs connecting it to the crossmember to lift the T case/trans up for clearance instead of removing the saddle bolts? I've got the B&M pan for my Gen 3... not finding much in terms of replacing it for the gen2/3 Raptors... definitely have yet to see anyone using the B&M pan. I also picked up the dipstick, but having second thoughts about using it after watching your videos. New subscriber by the way! Appreciate the time you put into this.

@@ChristianGrest I should have tried that. Looking at it again yesterday the exhaust cross section is actually removable with a flange on the resonator/muffler side and a clamp on the cat side…should be able to unbolt the flange with 13mm socket and loosen the clamp with a 15mm and pop it off the resonator before sliding off the cat. Haven’t tried it though and didn’t look at the hangers. I’d still give that a shot before dropping the cross member, just so I don’t have to worry about lining it back up.

@@ruffwrenchn2235 I just looked again and it might be that the exhaust is partially connected to the saddle mount, that's why you disconnect the saddle mount from the transmission. Disconnecting the exhaust might be a better option. I've seen where folk have an aftermarket downpipes making it easier. The other issue I'm worried about is clearance to the factory skid plate with the new pan. I was going to have one of my local Ford dealers do it and they quoted me $600 in just labor. On my 2019 when I had the job done it was like $180 labor. These 10 speed with all the complaints make me nervous. The ford dealer overfilled my 2019 on 2 separate occasions causing me issues.

So is the real problem the exhaust being the the way? Ifbthats the case wouldn't it be faster to take the exhaust off?
@ruffwrenchn2235
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, supporting the trans, dropping the cross member entirely and removing the exhaust could be faster. I just didn't expect to run into any issues. I also haven't even paid too much attention to my exhaust connections to see how difficult that is, if new gaskets would be required, or where I could a jack in to support the trans.

You added a trans dipstick or is that OEfactory? (I thought Ford deleted them-pricks) And... since I was 16 all I was able to do was work off the ground with cardboard... now 66 a lift would be nice.

I have 4 ramps, place them in front of all tires, shift to 4x4 and drive up. Far nicer, oh also try to take everything you’ll need under the truck.

I have the deep PPE 10R80 transmission pan on order right now for my Roush F150. Have you noticed any cooler transmission temps with the PPE pan? Mine gets as hot as 210 degrees with just normal, non-towing driving, so I’m hoping the PPE pan will keep my temps down below 200 degrees at least. Great video, by the way.
@ruffwrenchn2235
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
I haven't seen a change in temps. I usually sit under 180. If your having those issues then maybe upgrade the transmission cooler also. I was considering doing this at the same time, but when I saw how difficult it was to get my temps up and since I don't tow often I decided to wait. www.vividracing.com/-p-153084599.html

See you then when it's time to change the trans filter, now you'll have the same tricky process as the V8 version of f150 for that year! Conclusion: It definitely doesn't worth it (320+ Dollars) More fluid and extra labor for the next maintenances. Thanks and sorry

@@aaronjmv I definitely just did a drain and fill last week just over 60k miles. I laid under the truck for a few minutes and decided I didn’t want the hassle of removing the pan. I am now eyeing aftermarket downpipes with removable center section. I often end up spending more money fixing my “upgrades” than I do on the “upgrades” themselves

Thanks for this video, waiting on my pan. Do you think I would have any issue getting the slim version of this pan in without jacking up trans?
@ruffwrenchn2235
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
Is there a slim version now? I couldn't find it on their website. I installed the normal depth one and I've seen the deep version, but I wasn't sure if it would work with skid plates so I stuck with standard depth.

With the pan being a little thicker, did you have any clearance issues between the exhaust and the pan once everything was installed again?

Do all secound gen raptors have the dib stick and fill hole in the engine bay?
@ruffwrenchn2235
@ruffwrenchn2235 Жыл бұрын
Nope, they have the short dip stick under the cap on the transmission next to the passenger side catalytic converter. I installed an aftermarket B&M dipstick in an attempt to make the transmission services easier, but I do not recommend it. I ended up having to remove the dipstick and use the stock dipstick to measure the level appropriately. I recommend just using a fluid pump to pump in new fluid to the transmission.
