One pokémon I wish had better offensive stats was Electabuzz. Pretty good 105 speed, STAB Thunderbolt for Skarmory and non-Swampert bulky waters, access to both Ice Punch and HP Grass for Swampert and the Dragons, and Cross Chop for Ttar and Blissey, it would make it for an amazing mixed attacker if it just had a bit more offensive capability. It's not like it would be broken or anything with Dugtrio around.

So the Electivire issue. It can do shit, it just lack POWER.
@primosdesegundograu120411 ай бұрын
@@warcriminalyes Electivire also has an additional problem: it’s actually slower than Electabuzz and loses out the 100 benchmark. 105 was an amazing speed tier back in Gen 3, and back then the power creep for offensive stats wasn’t insane like it is today, so just a bit of improvement to Buzz’s offensive stats would go a long way in making it a more credible threat.

I think Medi is one of those Pokemon which really shows all the parts of Gen 3 that make it such a diverse and interesting Metagame, odd ability with even odder stats but clearly shows potential when people who dont understand it fully would think it has none. It has alot of depth to it and shows the addition of abilities and the positives and negatives of the EV and Nature systems to make diverse sets and teams.

Words can't express how much I love using medicham in any teir it's legal in due two being able to McFucking destroy any defensive mon ever, especially in Gen 9 ND OU as it is easily able to murder stall as most stall teams in the metagame run mon weak to it's Stab, for example, blissy, ferrothorn, toxapex, Chansey and gliscor with ice punch all just DIE because of of Pure Power. Against offense fake out and bullet punch allow for Mega medacham to revenge kill threats like iron val, mega lopunny and low health tusk and ogerpon. Mega medicham's ability to crush stall and annoy the hell out of offense is brilliant and allows it to be useful in many matchups in just one set, but this isn't the only set it can run as medicham's expansive movepool allows it to specialise in certain matchups that it might struggle with, such as running taunt + thunder punch to beat dondozo and corvinknight, or running sub to avoid status from mon like rotom. Due to gholdengo's somewhat recent ban from National Dex OU Mega medicham has been able to more reliable as one of it's biggest roadblocks have been removed and really most meta shifts and bans have helped Medicham, for example, dragapult was one of the biggest threats to Medicham on offense but it got banned a while back, sneasler which with a defender boost from grassy seed or electric seed could live fake out and kill Medicham with dire claw or with psychic terrain not dealing with priority to begin with, Even gambit a mon with no business switching in and threatening Medicham still can because sucker punch does a ton and Medicham was glad to not have another priority mon that can revenge kill it. I could keep going on about how much I love Medicham in ND OU but it seriously is one of the mon which just feel so fun to play with, I might edit this later but I might as will make a report on Smogon forums about Mega Medicham. (And after all that still BL)

Something I've heard before that'd be interesting is that Pure Power should be converted into Doubling Sp.Atk, given to some mons thar need it, and Medicham gets both Huge Power and Pure Power!
@FaeFlan10 ай бұрын
People who wish for this have very poor appreciation of Pokemon's strategic design. Pokemon battles are interesting because the counterplay for physical attackers and special attackers do not overlap. Physical attackers are dealt with intimidate and burns, while special attackers are dealt with snarl and assault vest. If there is a special intimidate or a status that lowers SpA instead, the battles will feel a lot more same-y and boring. (side note, this is also why almost all priority attacks are physical, because the intimidate switch in counterplay is possible). Asymmetry creates the difference and the difference is what makes it interesting.
@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions10 ай бұрын
@@FaeFlan Well just because the battle system works well asymmetrically doesn't necessarily mean *absolutely everything* has to be asymmetrical, people want a special Huge Power equivalent not to mirror Hugh Power but as a genuine buff to a known list of pokemon~ Gigalith, Probopass, and a few others have a lot of Special moves they'd like to take advantage of and have dex entry/lore reasons that'd have such an ability make sense on them! Medicham would also appreciate the set variety of having both versions of the ability and it'd makes sense for it to have both!
@FaeFlan10 ай бұрын
@@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions You have to keep in mind that special attackers are inherently stronger than physical attackers, because it's more difficult to debuff them. That's why we have seen Pokemon giving buffs to special attackers via sheer force or adaptability rather than an outright huge power (lower multiplier). Also, "making sense" is what leads to broken stuff, a lot of casuals wanted moves like rising voltage and expanding force on the Tapus because it "made sense" but Pokemon very smartly didn't give them those synergies. Having missed opportunities and redundant stats is part of how they balance the game (they are not always successful but we can see the intention behind it).
@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions10 ай бұрын
@@FaeFlan Perhaps a weaker version within a 1.5-1.75 ranged stat boost to Sp.Atk? The attacks are asymmetrically balanced with physical having more spammable strong attacks and great utility in weaker attacks all with more counterplay making physical attacking more dynamic, while special attacks have stronger mid power attacks (85-95 vs 75-85) and usually more coverage all with less but still common counterplay making special attacking more consistent. But Huge Power/Pure Power is just such big niche to otherwise weak mons that it's basically unfair for there not being a special equivalent, worst of all there is even an item equivalent of such a big stat boost in the Cubone line's Thich Club!
@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions10 ай бұрын
@@FaeFlan Plus you say making sense leads to broken mons but come on, look at the potential mons I've mentioned. Gigalith and Probopass? How bad could they be with a Sp.Atk doubling ability, especially with the power creep that is your namesake?
