Kids get exposed to the internet now and they have to worry about being groomed. Back in 2012, the things you had to worry about was traumatizing yourself and not being able to sleep for a week, getting scammed, groomed, or all three
@TheSlipperyNUwUdle3 жыл бұрын
Early internet up until like, 2010 was FULL of grooming. I’m only 26 and a lot of people a little older than me can recall at least once a time when an adult was creepy with them online. Hell, I would argue it’s much safer now. It’s just that we talk about it openly now.

The "Run the Gauntlet" one is the worst of this all probably, it messed me up a little bit and I'm in my 20s. To eliminate the curiosity so y'all don't look for it I'll just tell you what it is: A lot of it is very gross stuff like maggots in people's skin or a woman eating uh..let's just say a very old buildup of dirtiness on a dudes private parts, or people even cutting off their own private parts. The other half of what it is is just very depressing things because it's actually people dying. The worst one, which I think was also the last level, was a filmed torture/murder of an elderly man by these two teenage boys. So while I know people are probably curious, trust me you don't want to see. Thankfully also these boys got life in prison. Curiosity for shock videos will never go away from the internet and I myself will probably still be curious about certain scary things and end up searching them. However, trust me when I say this particular thing will only make you feel very sad and angry. Be better than me and don't seek these things. I was surprised to see this one in this video because it's not just a creepy kid's show episode or something, it feels like it doesn't fit here 😅. Plus the "I don't care how tough you think you are" may encourage people to get curious about what it is and seek it out... don't. It ruined my day pretty much.

Child's Play caused me such trauma to the extent that it led me to develop an intense fear of semi realistic dolls. I was like 2 when I was watching it with my parents and one of my aunts, I as a child would curse and threaten to kill my parents so my aunt took me to another room at put the movie on before locking the bedroom door where my parents and her would watch the movie. I couldn't move from the couch she set me on and I was petrified, about a year later we moved into an apartment building and in front of that building there was a store (if I remember correctly, it was reallyyyyy big). One day as we were going home I looked at the store's window and I saw a boxed chucky doll, it was around the same size as how chicky was portrayed in the movie and after that I would have constant panic attacks whenever we walked by the store. I remember not seeing it one day and going manic and it got even worse when I saw a family in front of us with one of the dolls. Even know I still can't be around semi realistic dolls but I got over my fear of chucky when I was 14 and watched a couple of movies and enjoyed them. But good lord that fear led me to having constant nightmares of being groped and clawed by chucky up until I was 6.

For anyone looking for context to the "I'm not Tommy/I'm not Stu" thing, it was from an episode of Rugrats called "In the Dreamland" which involves Chucky having dreams and then being unable to distinguish dreams from reality. The Tommy one was from earlier in the episode where Chucky has a dream that ends with The Tommy, and the Stu one is at the end where Chaz finds Stu in his house. He wakes up shortly after. As for "I'm not Patrick", it's obvious from the low quality that it was a fake inspired by the "I'm not Tommy/I'm not Stu" thing.

The thing that really scared me when I was a kid were "cd freezes" and "cassette freezings". Adding the fact that i was half asleep then, it was just nerve wracking!

At my old elementary school, we would play Just Dance in gym, class, basically everywhere. In class we would find recordings of dances on youtube, while our gym teachers actually had a wii. I remember in 1st grade doing a fan made FNAF Just Dance to the living tombstone song. It was pretty low quality and didn't seem to be alike to the style of Just Dance. We would never want to do it because there was a jumpscare at the end. Every time we did it, we got the jumpscare, and we would all scream and be scared out of our minds. Also, me and my best friends in 4th grade were trying to find ghosts. One of my best friends could apparently see ghosts, while I thought I could smell them. A ghost we "found" was one of my dead hermit crabs.

Funnily enough, a lot of those scary KZbin videos, like the dance one, Michael Jackson ghost one, and ones like it were shown to me by my parents, who routinely got a kick out of pranking their kids with believable looking YT videos. The dance one specifically was the last one they showed me and my siblings before we snapped at them, having a big fight when I was only like 10 years old. Videos like those might actually be why I’m weak against jumpscares. Also as a bonus, my cousin taught me how to play the Maze Game, and guided me up until the end. A few of my own additions that literally nobody asked for: Bloody Gir. In retrospect, the story behind this one is actually really funny. At the time though, it really freaked me out watching the show and knowing that he could be hidden in any frame. God knows why that got to me but Dark Harvest didn’t. Talking Angela. Not the game itself, but the urban legend surrounding it. I vividly remember trying to interrogate Angela and get the person behind her to fess up. Chain letters/comments. I was always skeptical of them, and so I never actually shared any with my friends. Regardless, I would get extremely anxious after scrolling past them. I remember being like 10 and not being able to sleep because supposedly a little girl with black eyes was going to show up at midnight and kill me. Several parts of the Harry Potter series. I most vividly remember being afraid of the screaming book in Sorcerer’s Stone, and when Bathilda turned into a snake in Deathly Hallows. Candy Wife in The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. Everything about that show was horrifying but I remember HATING Candy Wife. Everything about the 2012 “end of the world” thing. I never fully bought into it but I remember being on edge the whole day it was supposed to happen, and like the week or so leading up to it. And finally, That one time in Spongebob when Squidward’s toenail got ripped off. Just....... what the fuck man

The "Cell absorbs people" thing is likely referring to the actual DBZ scene where Cell absorbs someone. Animals doing stuff that don’t seem really…natural? I don’t know how to explain this, but imagine an animal you would normally see walk on all 4s (like a dog) and then let’s say that animal gets up and walks on it’s back legs like it’s natural for that animal. And especially since dogs don’t really show a lot of emotion through their faces, it just makes it scarier.

You can say whatever you will about M. Night Shamaylan, in fact I’m not biggest fan of the guy as well but Signs definitely got under my skin as a kid, especially the birthday party scene. Rigbys story in the first Terror Tales of The Park from Regular Show also got me good as a kid. I also remember my older brothers pulling a Herobrine prank on me, good times

I’m so glad screamers have died out early on, I hated clicking a cool looking video that piqued my interest just to see a scary or ugly image followed by blood curdling screams, I had gotten over screamers pretty quickly after seeing them so much but man I’m telling you, no video was safe from as screamer

Run the gauntlet was huge in middle school for me. I’m in high school right now and people are still doing it. I remember one video where the cartel beheaded someone by putting a bunch of nails in his neck until they pulled them all out and then just simply pulled his head off. Run the Gauntlet is by far the most disturbing one on this list and if anyone is considering it, don’t watch it. It doesn’t matter how tough you think you are.

Something that scared me as a child was when they would test the emergency alert system on the radio and TV. I'm not sure if the noise differs from state to state but as a Kentuckian I would cry every time the noise started playing. The low audio quality of that guys voice stating it was just a test didn't help either. I've only actually heard the noise in an emergency when I was about 10. It was just a thunderstorm, not even a bad one. It was 11pm and I was already crying because of something that happened at school. Not fun.

just to say, like most people watching this is all my childhood. however, having trauma isn’t something anyone should want. yes, you can embrace what happened and learn/grow from it. but that is very different from normalising and or romanticising trauma. you should not be grateful or glad of your trauma. if you don’t have any trauma that is a very good thing. trust me, you don’t want it. trauma isn’t a cool thing to have, even though people nowadays are bonding over similar disturbing experiences; but it’s not “trendy”. and you definitely don’t want to get it. and for the people who act like people who aren’t traumatised are inferior - please don’t ever do that. it’s not healthy and you shouldn’t discourage people having good mental/emotional health. if you do this you need some serious help, and i’m saying this out of concern, not malice.
