Getting a job rn is so hard. I only just got a job after months of searching and applying. Another thing I thought I'd mentions is that so many jobs just treat people like shit and barely pay anything. I worked as a host at a small restaurant once and it was a breakfast place. My main job was talking to people and seating them. I got so sick the day before that I couldn't speak or breathe and my entire body was weak. I sent my manager (also the owner of the restaurant) a text basically saying like "hey I'm really sorry but I physically am unable to come in tomorrow morning. I'm so sick I won't be able to do my job and I can barely get out of bed". Also keep in mind, I worked in food service around customers, rolling the silverware they would use, cleaning and touching the menus they'll hold, going back to the kitchen to grab clean dishes that the customers will use, occasionally running food that they will be eating. It would have been so bad if I went into work I could've gotten people sick. And this was just at the tail end of COVID. She ignores my text. Then after that day I missed I was able to speak and figured I was well enough to function, even if only at the bare minimum level possible, and I would be able to not spread it. I show up and got told off for not showing up. She acknowledged my text showing that she clearly read it and chose not to answer, and then after that shift she refused to schedule me for 2 weeks. Turns out she was trying to get me to quit instead of firing me. After the 2 weeks I was so pissed that I messaged her asking why I wasnt being scheduled. She got mad AGAIN basically blaming all of the restaurants issues on the day I was absent on me when I was absolutely not the reason for every one of those things. Then she cut my hours but still kept me hired. I quit not long after that

Ok, I watched this and I can give proof about the jobs for I am gen z and had an "amazing" time on the job. I started at 18 working for a plumbing company and so the interview went smooth and I thought the job was going to be a great fit for me. (For context: I have worked hands on with jobs, but this job is my first time being a plumber. My first 2 was me going around seeing how people do jobs and help a little. The other was a saftey meeting that only taught me about electrical. Also the coworkers in the field were amazing. Also none of this is complaining about the work.) On the 3rd day I was ready to actually get on the job. Only problem I wasn't assigned to go with anybody yet and I wasn't taught what to do in that scenario, so I ask my supervisor what I should do. He instantly turned around and started yelling at me saying I should know what to do and told me to go outside and wait for someone to pick me up.(by the way I made it there all days atleast an hour before my boss and coworkers did even though I was given a specific time to be there.) once I was picked up I was fine and the rest of the week was ok besides one main issue. Before I was working I was told "a 8-5 shift is all you need to get more than your 40 hours. My fist week I got 38.5 hours when I was out 8-5 on 3 days and 7am-11pm-12pm. The next week my hours were worse since I worked 8am-up to 2am, while one day being a 8-5 that I got 4 hours for. This is all because the way you get a job is you go to an online board and hope you get one before someone else does and one guy will do the work while his partner stays on the board to claim any oncoming jobs. They had 40 hours in by Wednesday and they didn't stop there. Ask how they got that many hours and I could not tell you how stupid the hours system works. All plumber has to do is show ip and complete easy jobs in even a minute to count as an hour. But that doesn't even compare to what happened to me on Friday and that up and coming Monday. At 5 there were more more jobs listed on the board. My partner and I were an hour out from the shop and I didn't drive that day. I saw from life360 my brother was in the area and I asked if I could be dropped off. Since of how far away we were my partner said just let my supervisor know and if he gives the ok then he will. My supervisor says it is fine. Coming in on Monday I was told to stay in the office and just wait for about an hour. Then 4 hours go by for them finally to come to me in the office just for them to tell me I am fired because I would rather get off early than do my job and I just constantly hear them rant about how if I am willing to do that I am probably terrible on the job and that "the only thing I am good for is pushing a button." This after they complained to me on how my body looks. I just sit there just accepting it while thinking of what I have done while working for them in just the past week. I had to carwl underneath a flooded house with water veins that bursted in the ceiling. I had to dig a 24ft/7.3m. Fish a showerhead out of a bathtubs drain, work on a house for an entire day just to find out the sewer lines collapsed and even flooded into to the underground electrical by about 20ft/6.1m up. Then go to fix 5 different dog washing stations the closest being 15 minutes out and farthest being 2 hours out. So yes gen z has great work experiences.

@r68547 ай бұрын
Dude, you are in the perfect position to get a job! Seriously. Make an appointment to see the director, preferably the executive director. Those people are literally knocking on every businesses door to raise money and most of the people sitting on the board are very well off. In short you do volunteer work for someone who knows everyone in your town from mayor to restaurant owner. Make an appointment, tell him/her, 'Thank you for seeing me. I really enjoy my volunteer work here at the food bank. I was hoping to get career advice. Can you give me advice on how I can use the skills and experienced I have learned here to get a paying job?' Put it in your own words, but the gist of it is that you are asking them to help you find a job. There is only really one rule, ask for advice, not help. There is an old saying, 'if you want money ask for advice, if you want advice ask for money.' Asking for advice is much less of a burden to the person you are asking. They want their advice to work. Soon, they will have an action plan for you, and they actually know the decision makers at every company in town. Step 2: No matter what job they find for you, you have to at least show up and talk to the interviewer/manager. If it is not a good fit you send a note, not an email, an actual note thanking the interviewer for their time. Before email, twitter, etc. this is what us old timers called networking. Good Luck!

We say lazy because we are in the same boat as you, getting paid same as you, but have to do more work because of you. Gen Z "Does the job they were hired for" or "The bare minimum". That doesn't cut it in the real world. I wish managers were more strict than what they are today. I had it so good in the early 2000's working because nobody was allowed to slack. Skip forward almost 30 years and people for the most part slack off at work and think they can just take time off when ever. You schedule your activities around work.

IDK about the aging, but I do know, as a Millennial, that if we're a little tough on the whole work thing, it's because most of us got our asses blasted when we were starting out in the work force... But, honestly, this happens every generational transition. We didn't like boomers or gen X, after all. Shit, no one really does. They had it easy. LOL!

Any new employee in any organization should be putting in a strong effort if they’re serious about the job they were hired to do. Employees are people but a job is a job. Being an effective employee sometimes require going above and beyond the original scope of work. However, if needed for a meeting with a day’s notice, the company should be flexible on the employee’s response. You can’t expect people to drop their lives on short notice.

As the youngest version of a gen z, I am told I look way older I have even been told I look like my mothers sister, then again my mother can pass for a teen but still. Also it’s not only gen z struggling with millennials, it’s also millennials struggling with gen x. So I feel like this a generational thing, I’ve always thought that I would want to get a job that pays me well and sticks with my schedule, and this is why I’ll struggle to get one because, based off of parents and friends experience, they don’t always do that. I can’t tell you how much thought I’ve put into this and how much me and my friends talk about this because it’s ridiculous.

7:39 I do, So there is this person (one of my coworkers) who recently transitioned from male to female. I live in a rural area which is quite conservative on that topic generally but everybody despite their opinions on it is as nice and respectful about it as they should be required to be, however there is now the issue of some weird ego thing going on with them. A good example is some poor old lady customer used the wrong pronoun. God forbid she ever do that because she was then lectured for 12 minutes by them while we had plenty of work that still needed done back in our department. Another example one of my co workers who is very religious struggles to accept it and although he tried he sometimes doesn't use the right pronouns because he's simply not comfortable with it. I think he used their real name and not their new name. So that happened some girl tattled on him to the transgendered individual and while we had plenty of work that needed done that's always on a time constraint the girl and them BOTH went back to go tell a manager and were gone for some time leaving me and someone else with a task that they didn't complete. It causes problems. I'm 18 by the way and I think that SOME of my generation is very difficult to work with. Gen z-ers tend to talk back, be lazy, argue, complain about having to do their fucking job! It's such a damn pain.

(I would have been fine being short) The onlt caffeine I really want is the occasional tea or hot chocolate. All the rest of the drinks I have are either water, milk, or whatever juice is in the fridge. (And I have no plans to smoke in any way. I would rather not ruin my bad lungs even more. My lungs aren't bad because of anything I did, it's just because I was born with what I think is Exercise Induced Asthma.)

Multiple people have thought I was married, have kids, and am in my late 20's. I'm 18. Idk if this is a good thing or not. My mom, in other people's perception, has been everything from my sister to my wife. My little brother (2 years younger than me) was thought to be my son once. Having watched further in the video I wish to say that I have never even tried a vape or a cigarette. I've had a sip of like 4 drinks total under my parent's supervision and drink caffeine rarely (like a soda once or twice a week) as I don't react crazy well to it.

I'm 35, and Gen Z'ers seem to commonly assume that I'm 21-23. I've never really seen it as a compliment, but people keep suggesting that I should 😅 One thing I've noticed is that they care a lot more than my generation did about clout and being recognized by others. Social media was still in it's infancy when I was in my late teens, so we never had the same dependence on it. I imagine my generation would've been super stoked to have something like Instagram available to us when we were 15-25, but I also get the impression that Gen Z cause themselves a lot of stress and anxiety from their obsession with being recognized by others through doing whatever they can to make it seem as if they live perfect lives that are up to the lofty expectations that they've set for themselves. Supposedly, depression has never been higher than it is in the younger generations these days, and I suspect that's also tied to this relationship to social media. I've noticed that my colleagues who are in their early 20s occasionally go out of their way to fool their Instagram followers into thinking that they're somehow wealthy and glamorous, and maybe I'm old for seeing it this way, but I can't imagine that kind of perspective on life is good for one's mental health.

Is Jesus cared he wouldn’t demand me give him 10% of my income in his name. And if he didn’t support paying the church then why doesn’t he punish those that demand you pay to be apart of the church? I think a lot of the Gen Z looking older thing has a lot to do with their choices in fashion. (Not saying this in a judgemental way, just an observation). I'm very late Gen X but culturally more of a millennial. A lot of how Gen Z dresses is how old people dressed in the 90s. Especially the choices in glasses frames. Like I would have never dressed that way back in the day much less now. It really ages you. The woman in the TikTok you showed is a primary example. Especially with the heavy make-up. Definitely looks like how someone would have dressed in the 90s if they were 40+. I'm old af but work as a Software Engineer, so I work with a lot of people younger than me. Aside from my greying hair they can look close my age sometimes simply by dressing in like early to mid 90s 40+ adult style.

They always check my ID and double take when they see my age. She’s always like this is bullshit! I’m younger than you. I’m in my 30’s now and I definitely look older than 21 but yeah I think I have good genes. I like looking younger than I am because it’s like I’m a witch or a shapeshifter people get so confused.
