Yes and the start of the Fall season of 1965, American prime-time TV shows went color... though very few had a color TV then. Still we have these shows and others with many recorded on film over videotape and many TV shows then look HD.

Bobby's mom sat right behind him. Aside from singing live in front of millions, he suffered stage fright. When he tells Andy how their name, you can hear him gasping for breath. His cold was a bother as well. Despite all that, he made the best recording ever. No other singer even comes close. RIP Bobby.

Bobby Hatfield had a very rare voice for a man called a countertenor. It's equivalent to a high soprano. He had a 4.5 to 5 octave range. He'd probably still be alive if not for a cocaine induced heart attack in his sleep in 2003.

Yes. Unfortunately he had an undiagnosed coronary blockage of 95%. The coroner had stated that the amount of cocaine in his system wouldn’t have been enough to trigger a heart attack if he had been otherwise healthy.

Both brothers sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the Ed Sullivan Variety Hour TV show and in that short live clip you can hear how different their voices are but they blend together incredibly. They were on the Shindig TV show for 2 years so there's many videos of them but 1st off hear them sing "You Lost That Loving Feeling" on that show. Bobby again does a solo on Shindig "Summertime" and Bill Medley solos on "Georgia On My Mind". I enjoyed your reaction.

Bill and Bobby had an agreement, each would do a solo or 2 on their albums. Bobby's "Unchained Melody" was a gig hit in the "60s. Bobby's studio version of the song was used as background music for a love scene in the 1990 movie "Ghost." The audiences loved it and it once again became a hit. Same song, same artist, recorded 26 years earlier and a hit for the second time. In a recentish interview Bill Medley said the album containing the song was rereleased and collected a "boxful of platinum records." One for every COUNTRY where it sold more than a million copies. Try Bobby's solo version of "Summer Time," its awesome!

Both men had amazing voices and the more you discover you'll see that there weren't enough piano keys for what Bobby Hatfield was able to do with songs like "Summertime". Yes, they were just as funny as they were talented singers. They would bring the house down on Shindig every week with their No Holds Barred R&B live performances back in the mid 60s. The black & white Shindig videos are the real gems. Their vocals are mind blowing and the pranks are delightful. Bill Medley uses his height to play keep away with the mic in "Ko Ko Joe" and "Justine".

Actually it was Bill (the deeper voice of the duo) and. Neither of them thought it would be a hit! It was intended to be Bobby's solo on the album they were working on ( they each did a solo on their albums) . Phil Spector, their producer needed a B side song and he thought so little of Unchained Melody that he put it on the other side of the song he was producing ( Bill Medley produced Unchained Melody for Bobby. Bobby had been singing Unchained Melody for years with his old band the Variations before he met Bill Bobby brought the song to the recording session and as Bobby said, it was a song he always liked and he recorded "Real easy because he had that one in his pocket. There wasn't a coin toss.

Patrick's character sam inhabits whoopi's body so he can dance one last time with demi's character(.obvs she has her eyes closed)this song is used for that scene. Thank you for reacting to Bobby singing Unchained Melody. What an amazing artist he was too. Bill was no slouch either. As you didn't know who the third man was, well he was Andy Williams, who was also a big star on TV in the 1960s and for decades afterwards. As he said, he started out in music singing with his actual brothers before setting out on a highly successful solo career, producing lots of hit records and became a staple on American TV throuout the 1960 . His shows were also widely seen in the UK and other countries. My favourite song from Andy Williams was Moon River, which I believe was orioginally sung by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Breakfast At Tiffanys in 1961. Sadly Andy Williams and Bobby are no longer with us, but Bill is still going strong. Long may that continue.

The title of this wonderful song comes from the prison break movie, "Unchained". The song itself had no title. It was sung by one of the guys in prison who as accompanying himself on a guitar, and it was written for the film. The Righteous Brothers took that quiet little ditty and exploded it into this amazing ballad. (Most people these days know the song from its featuring in the movie "Ghost", with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.)

Unchained Melody: Bobby Hatfield live performance. {The Andy Williams Show}- Episode #4.5 Episode aired: Monday, Oct 25, 1965: Robert Lee Hatfield (August 10, 1940 - November 5, 2003) Bobby Hatfield, who had a higher countertenor voice ( in this performance his range is an incredible: D3 to G5 sharp) to Bill Medley’s, William Thomas Medley (born September 19, 1940) baritone, sang lead on this track. It was his idea to record it, since Medley and Hatfield each sang a song as a solo vocalist on their albums. As Medley tells it, Hatfield knew the song well, and was a big fan of the Roy Hamilton and Al Hibbler versions of the song. Sadly, on Nov. 5, 2003 Hatfield died of a heart attack in a Michigan hotel room just prior to a Righteous Brothers performance, apparently in his sleep at age 63. The Righteous Brothers version was , oddly enough a huge hit because it was recorded merely as a filler song for their fourth album, not for release as a single. Philles Records owner/producer Phil Spector considered it album filler and released it as a B-side. The single had "Unchained Melody," with no producer credit on the label, as the flip B-side to writers Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "Hung on You," but many DJs preferred "Unchained Melody" and played that one instead. This infuriated Spector, who subsequently left no doubt (actually calling DJs telling them to play “Hung On You” not “Unchained Melody “) as to which side of his Philles single was the A-side. The famous climax of this song where Bobby Hatfield sings the high "I need your love" line wasn't how the song was written. In an interview with Bill Medley, he explained that Hatfield did two takes of the song, then left. He would often reconsider his performance and come back later to change it, and that's what he did on this track, returning to ask Medley to make an edit. This was no easy task, since with a maximum of four tracks to work with, you had to record over part of the original take, but Medley accommodated and Hatfield delivered that soaring vocal line. Said Medley: "I punched that in and before he left he said, 'No, I can do it better. ’And I said, 'No, you can't!’ [Medley Laughs] And I think it's a big part of that song." This was released on Philles Records, Phil Spector's label. Spector, known for his "Wall Of Sound" technique, did not produce this - Bill Medley did! In a 2007 statement to the Forgotten Hits newsletter, Medley said: "You have to remember that I was producing our stuff before Phil Spector... I mean I produced 'Little Latin Lupe Lu,' 'My Babe' and all that stuff. Then when we went with Phil, Phil asked me if I would produce the albums because it was too time consuming for him to produce the entire albums. So he was going to do the singles and I would do the album. And so that's how that happened and that's how I produced 'Unchained Melody,' which Phil Spector apparently now takes credit for. He can have the credit. And I'm not a producer. I know how to produce. But it's obviously not a Spector production. 'Unchained Melody' was never intended to be the single... it was produced to be on the album. It was put on the B-side of a Phil Spector single 'Hung On You' but the minute it was released 'Unchained Melody' just went through the roof." Hatfield’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” although not the original, is the ‘gold standard’. Also: Bobby Hatfield live performance of “Unchained Melody “ on the TV show “Shindig” kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnqsp4uPpJp8hNEsi=OmBVdie7xz-GPuIh

The Righteous Brothers were in the pilot on the Shindig television show in July 1964. They opened for The Beatles in August and September 1964 as you described, and left that tour to be regulars on Shindig. Phil Spector signed a record deal with them in October 1964, released "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" in November 1964, it became #1 in February 1965, and according to BMI was the most-played song of the 20th century. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. They were regulars on the great Shindig, with many wonderful performances available on KZbin. Bobby Hatfield's performance of "Unchained Melody" to me here on the Andy Williams Show is soulful/spiritual/romantic and his performance of this on Shindig is soulful/sexual. 💜❤️

The guy in the middle is Andy Williams, and yes, he was a singer, too - a great singer. You should check him out, too. Bill and Bobby actually flipped a coin to decide who would record this as a solo. Bobby won.

The coin flip was a joke which became a rumor. Bobby Hatfield sang this song with his original group The Variations, and said in an interview "I had that one in my pocket".

The whole “wasn’t gonna be a hit” was a joke. The duo always did a few solo efforts on records. The two actually flipped a coin to see who would sing this song. Both would have done a great job. However thank god Bobby won that coin flip!!!

Please present someone from your own culture so Americans can learn something new. There got to be at least two or three people from your culture who is worthy of us listening to.
