I'm surprised significant numbers of gen x didn't figure this out decades ago. Most jobs haven't paid enough to live on in a long time.

I'm a gen X and i figured this in 1997 and from that moment,i refused to work for anyone( i begun to make small bussineses only for me)For this reason my family disowned me and made me homeless.I paid for freedom with my life.

@Elavator66 do you already have a plan? Only asking because it took years to even have an idea of what I wanna do in life. Honestly imo those are just the easier than working a 9-5 although I can't blame you for not wanting to do it, I study enough to make a college kid worried.

@@samuraitadpole5459 Sadly I don't, I have talents for sure but I'm pretty sure they aren't "making a living" worthy. I don't even wanna live a extroverted over-the-top lifestyle, I just wanna live alone in MY own place, I've been considering trying to chase off-grid self-sufficient living but I won't have enough money to TRAVEL TO DIFFERENT STATES AND LOOK AT AND/OR BUY LAND. I'm literally terrified of owningand driving a car, one of my big dreams is I've wanted to own stuff from my hobbies but probably won't ever have a place to keep it all.

I do have a job but its 7-4 I used to do 4-7 Nightshifts because it was much more manageable (initially) but overtime i saw my mental health detoriate from having to constantly feel half asleep because it's still pitch black outside. I dont think there's easy way out of not working especially when the prices in stores and accomodation are skyrocketing. Edit: i don't 'toletate' working but i have no choice i am in 'work or starve' type of situation because cov have ruined my entire carrier paths.
@benstandardАй бұрын
If they keep skyrocketing without the wages going up it's not even gonna be worth working. No point working all day for one meal a day and nothing left for rent or anything else.

22:50 lol what a stupid thing to say, so he bought a property for 90k in 2018 and it's "worth" over double that? great, your little buddy just went abroad and made another hole in someone else's bucket, the underlying problem here is not with work and studying for a degree but with people's greed and mentality, that property bought for 90k didn't get any more rooms, it just expected people to pay more for it for some stupid reason, then everyone does the same thing, college prices skyrocket, employers pay peanuts, property owners expect you to pay ridiculous scam prices for a property they bought for a fraction of the price, in other words things don't work because everyone out there wants to steal from you, the real problem behind it all is human behavior because literally everyone in this planet earth could be living a good decent life if things were actually done in a proper un-corrupt manner.

With the current economy, Id honestly recommend have both a car and a bike. If you can bike somewhere, dont drive to save money on gas. For the vehicle go used, sure it will need repairs, but people tend to forget, replacing an engine is only about 5k if you have to pay someone else to do it for you, or around 2k plus $500 in tools to do it yourself. In our modern global extration economy, the only way to get ahead is to start establishing the side economy and network with any currently existing side economy businesses. Side economy is your local businesses, craftsmen, etc that when you buy something that money stays within your local community and doesnt get funneled to investors through transaction fees from credit cards, loans, etc.

Trust me working during days before Christmas is no easy fucking task. I swear because while the bosses are good to me and managers it still fucking sucks. I work as a package handler in FedEx. I don't mind the physical labor, I am not under time constraints and be there now for a year since Novemeber of last year. Usually after Peek season its easy going, move packages and downtime to talk to co-workers who by the fucking grace of God are not normies so conversation is good. I want to stream, and I plan to after news years as I already planned this. I still will work for FedEx but will let my streaming eventually gain way to where I could stay at home doing it but won't make the mistake of quitting to then fail or let streaming be slow. My parents see me as someone who encourage my streaming but want to make sure I still have job on the side. So for now its hard but it will be over after New Years

If they wanted to fix large swaths of the problems facing the country they would find ways to make affordable housing units en mass and then prioritize getting them filled with young working adults who can afford to live there because they're so cheap and still have a 3rd of their salary after all there monthly expenses are paid.A community needs to retain its young people they're it's future tax payers and residents. If a city loses all of its young people eventually the tax revenue dries up the small businesses shrivel up and die the municipalities grocery stores and gas stations leave too, as well as the hospitals and schools, they all shut down and the place becomes a ghost town where no one wants to live with this decline so goes the property values until you can't even give them away for a dollar. This is happening in parts of Italy right now. And I suspect in small towns across the country. If it gets bad enough that it's happening to small cities...think about it.
