Sadly,the original tv series only lasted two seasons 1964-66. Which is also how long competing show,The Munsters,lasted. The Munsters also aired entirely in black and white.

Fun facts: Jackie Coogan (uncle Fester) got his start working with Charlie Chaplin. -After Jackie's parents spent all his money the government enacted a law that protects the income of child actors called "the Jackie Coogan law". -Originally Lurch didn't speck but during the original TV pilot, Ted Cassidy improvised the line "You rang?" It got such a laugh that they had to start writing lines for him. Sad fact: John Ashton (Gomez) is the only surviving member of the original cast.

One thing I like about Wednesday, is the mixture of using styles of the Original Comic (Luis looks more like the comic then any of the other actors, but still expertly brings the love he has for Morticia and his family to Raul Julia levels and still made it his own version), Original Show (Angelica & Catherine mimicked Carolyn Jones often), Hanna-Barbera Cartoon Version (Luis' wardrobe was inspired by the cartoon, more boxy and stiff looking) and the movies (yes, even the Tim Curry as Gomez was included, being more out in the world around them helped inspire the animated movies and helped with Fester's kookiness in Wednesday), the musical as well the animated movies in a formation of their life and how Wednesday went from a happy child version to a more deadpan teen version. An do like the fan theory why Thing has stitches and scars is Thing and Cousin It are the reason(s) for the Animated Addams Family movies and Wednesday punished Thing, and reasons why Things is left to be a goffer for her.

I remember when i was 12 i was at my cousin's house for Thanksgiving break and like the next day they had The Adoms family marathon and i loved it i had so much fun watching it. The Adoms family very different from The Monsters. I'm a 80's baby & everything from back in the day i watched when i was a kid so when they showed the marathon on the Adoms family my mom told me that she use to whatch the Adoms family too. The concept of the original Addams Family show was to be a contrast to other family shows on TV at the time. Other shows made drama or comedy out of dysfunction in the family so the idea behind The Addams Family was to show a family that consisted of strange and scary characters but the family dynamic was that of a normal loving well-functioning family.

I enjoyed Jenna Ortega's performance, but I feel that making her so antagonistic toward her family was a big mistake. She could have gone to that school and had adventures or whatever, without being emotionally distant from her own family, too. The Adamses are supposed to be ALL about family! Especially when Gomez and Morticia were being passionate: that's a GOOD thing; that's the role model parenting "how to be a good spouse: love your partner with every fiber of your being, all the time." Wednesday should have appreciated her parents' affection for each other- even defended it against outsiders- not herself being "nauseous and not in a good way." Just a missed opportunity in that show; I feel they let the family legacy down on that point.

Oh, and I have the same criticism with the musical. The musical also pits Wednesday against her family in an antagonistic way, and it bothers me, because they're supposed to be so close.
